There are many answers for this, but looking at the dictionary we get: at: In or near the area occupied by; in or near the location of. in: Within the limits, bounds, or area of. People are usually using in to note a general location and at for a more specific location. I'm in the building, at the front desk. I'm in New York, at the conference Also, I'm not sure if the OP is too interested in what Shakespeare wrote. The OP asked whether "I will" and "we will" are correct, and the answer to this is a resounding yes. But this doesn't imply that "I shall" and "we shall" are incorrect; they are certainly both still used today, and are completely interchangeable with "I will" and "we will". We are all is much more frequent than we all are in both the Corpus of Contemporary American English and in the British National Corpus. There are, however, some contexts where we all are would be used. The answer to the question Who is responsible? might be We all are, and not We are all. It is better used when you are referring to something within the document itself, for example, in a long tenancy contract you might say at the start, 'We, company X, herein the "Landlord" and you Joe Bloggs, the "Tenant" blah blah. Then later on, instead of having to restate, 'We company X,' the contract can just refer to the "Landlord". So if we consider "look forward to" to mean "anxiously await", then we can rewrite the phrase as: "I anxiously await your visit", vs "I am Anxiously awaiting your visit". So in this case, "look" and "await" are the verb, and "forward" and "anxiously" are the adverbs. So it's sort of a active/passive thing. "I am" versus "I". We could say we had our copy replaced five years ago, and today it looks worn out. We could say we just have had our copy replaced, and the book is as good as new. To use grammar labels, "I have had the book replaced" is the Causative in the Perfect Aspect, in the Present; "I had the book replaced" is the Causative in the Simple Aspect, in the ... I and my partners we are interested in investing in your product. I figured it was wrong, so I suggested: I and my partners are interested in investing in your product. This looks grammatical to me but sounds strange. Also, I have seen a lot of people writing this: Me and my partners we are interested in investing in your product. When I hear "I'm well" all the time I feel like saying, "we're not all in a hospital here inquiring about everybody's health everyday", the greeting "How are you?" means "how are things going in general" and the response "I'm well" brings the subject back to "personal health matters". What people mean to say is: "Things are going well." @tchrist: Well, we're both perfectly competent speakers, so I'm certainly not trying to say that you should alter your own concept of what is or is not "grammatical" (whatever that means). What I mean is I do not accept/require the same limitations you place on constructions involving request. And as my link shows, nor do lots of others. we see that today, he had experience of being kidnapped before 1980. we see that in 1980, he had had experience of being kidnapped before 1980. Both sentence structures convey the same message, but differs in when the observation was made about his having acquired the experience.

2024.11.27 10:00 Uni-Logic Is it unfair to paint Nietzsche as a fierce individualist who were opposed to selflessness?
I don't have sufficient knowledge of Nietzsche and his work but hope people who has more knowledge can help me out on this question.
When I scroll this sub I often get the impression that the morality that Nietzsche somehow advocated through his work was some fierce form of individualism. Where "rising above the sheep" seems to be a popular way to talk.
So with individualism here I mean something that seems to oppose collectivism and in one sense empathy with the masses.
It seems incompatible to me with the obvious intuitive view of perfection for me which is an amalgamation of selfishness and selflessness in one person, where both aspects have reached its apex powers through a process of suffering.
It seems to me that the ubermensch concept as understood in this sub is catering towards something that leans towards the individualist egocentric view.
I have a hard time believing that Nietzsche really was this narrowminded about the ideal. It seems obvious as that the sky is blue that the ideal person represents what the individualist and the collectivist worship in their autistic frenzy.
As you can see I come with prejudices here that colors my language. I call people who disagree with my intuitive notion "narrow minded" and autistic, which could be seen as bigoted by me. Maybe I am an idiot?
My question is whether my understanding of this sub's general view of Nietzsche's position is warranted or am I myself victim to misunderstanding? What did Nietzsche actually believe (for those who are well read) in terms of the individualis impulse vs the collectivist?
