So about two days ago my sister came to visit me and she was telling me how my dad scolded her fiancé since they were being so touchey infront of my parents (we come from strict Arab household where it’s disrespectful to be touchy with you s/o). I jokingly said to my husband in-front of my sister that you need to be also scolded by my dad and he said that’s not funny so I was joking and told him go cry about it and immediately he switched and become upset with me. After my sister left mind you we have three kids together he starts yelling at me and calling me garbage and disrespectful because I made those jokes he kept going on and on how that’s not funny and how he’s grown man why would I joke for my dad to yell at him. It’s been two days and I am so upset I have given him the silent treatment and then he starts texting me that I need to apologize for hurting his feelings and making jokes like that but he never apologizes for calling me names and yelling at me infront of our kids. He basically said im not proud of it but that I brought upon myself and he’s trying to teach me a lesson so I wouldn’t joke like this again. I don’t know what to do honestly I am so turned off by him I can’t even look at him without remembering what he did. I feel like I am going crazy because is what I did that bad? Did I bruise he’s ego? I didn’t tell anyone because I am so embarrassed of what happened.

Recently had my first day, and I had high hopes going into it. This isn’t my first job, I’ve had three previous jobs, two of which required me to work in a kitchen setting. Within 2 mins I was thrown into the line and told to just observe. No prior training, no modules watched. Nothing. The person who was actually teaching me I would say did a decent job. Only learned how to make two things and that was it. Besides that no one talked to me unless to tell me I did something wrong. (My cooking skills were a little rusty, I will admit to that) I had to wash the dishes no biggie , it’s something I was required to do at my previous jobs. I got home and instantly my hands started cramping and hurting and the only thing I could connect to it was the dishes. The pain was unimaginable, and I had never had an experience like that prior to my first shift. The pay is really good, and was basically told a lot of good things, about getting weekends off. A bunch of promises basically. Having doubts about showing up to my next shifts, as this whole being left to basically fend/learn for myself has left a bad experience, and question the management. Interested to hear about anyone else’s first day experiences.

2024.11.27 10:25 WelshPebble Wales - Scottish Power hasn’t upgraded our smart meter so we are getting gas for free, any chance it will blow back onto us?
Long story short a few months ago our smart meter stopped connecting to the gas meter, someone came out but to fix the problem he would also need to change the electric meter which unfortunately he couldn’t do.
He changed the gas meter from PAYG to something else temporarily until Scottish Power came out and upgraded it all, he said they usually get it done in about 2 weeks. The problem is my Father hasn’t been able to contact them, he works roughly 8-5 Monday - Friday so there’s not much opportunity for him to call and the times he did manage to call they actually hung up on him.
A few weeks ago Scottish Power actually called him to see if he would be interested in switching to them, he explained he was already with them and they needed to come out and fix something but the guy calling pretty much said it’s not his department and hung up, so could we get in trouble for not paying for gas even though we are trying to sort it out? Also unfortunately it has to be the account holder that calls, I’ve tried myself but they won’t let me.
Also side question but would this be a good enough reason for him to break contract and switch providers without getting in trouble? I know some companies allow you to switch with no repercussions if things aren’t working as they should.

for the first time had to switch my search engine from google to find stuff that i know exists. When i searched on google it just served me up a bunch of blatant scam sites. Didn't even try bing, just went straight to duckduckgo and it was the first result!
Granted it was spicy content but it wasn't that spicy that google needed hide it. (yes safe search is off. )

After being a happy TalkTalk customer for years, I decided to make the switch to Yayzi after my most recent contract ended. 5 days in and I’m massively regretting the decision as I’m still not online.
Installation was simple (apart from the CityFibre engineer not knowing how to set the router up) as I already had CityFibre installed from TalkTalk. Friday evening (7 hours after installation) I was told CityFibre were having issues with activations and go-lives, Saturday morning I was told the issue was expected to be fixed that day, Saturday evening I was told the expected fix date was now Monday, Monday morning I was told it was still on track to be fixed, Tuesday morning the issue was raised with the network team again and now it’s Wednesday morning with still no fix in sight.
I can’t fault Yayzi customer service as they are very quick to respond and even way after hours, but this is getting so frustrating now. If this is a CityFibre fault then this is the second time I have had problems with activation, the first time I was getting 90mb/s with TalkTalk (not the stated 944mb/s) after they installed a wrong ONT and it took multiple engineer visits to figure out the problem after 2 months.

Hello all, I have been going through the Nobel Eightfold Path on and off for quite a few years. The one I find myself most challenged with is speech, particularly when it comes to consciousness. Something my therapist and I talked about was that probably about 98% of what I say just flys out of my mouth. I always have good intentions, but what comes out particularly is harmful to my own healing. For example: saying or offering help and support when it may in fact not be my task to take on, adding to my plate of what is already a full one. As an eldest daughter and natural caretaker, I've done this my whole life. A cycle I am working to witness and pay closer attention to.
All this said, are there good resources you've found on speech and consciousness? Moving closer to simply slowly down speech and witnessing?
