2024.11.27 13:00 bonjurkes Deciding NAS drive size
I am a newbie that is planning to build a NAS and use it with RAID 5 or similar, and I am aware RAID is not a backup. My plan is building a custom NAS, and saving valuable documents and photos and files etc. Right now I don't have any archive per se. I have a Plex library but I will store it separately and not make it part of RAID.
I checked the prices and see that WD Red Plus drives got a bit of discount, but I can't decide what size NAS drive should I buy. I will use 4 drives and going with Raid 5, the total size of the array can be 3 times of the disks in it (correct me if I am wrong) and ideally all disks should be same type and size. I think Unraid and Synology allows mix and match thou.
As I don't have any archive, what would be the correct way of deciding disk size? Is it purely money? Or is bigger the better approach works here? As I am in EU, TB / Euro prices are not good as in US.
I am stuck between getting either 8 TB or 12 TB WD Red Plus disks, I believe 4 TB disks would be too small and not future proof. I am interested in 12 TB because they are helium disks and works quieter compared to 8 TB disks (according to my googling experience). But would it be an overkill to start NAS with zero archive and 36 TB size of storage?
Speaking for WD Red Plus disks: 8 TB = 26 Euro / TB, 12 TB = 23 Euro / TB. I know they are not great prices and Segate Exos drives are also on discount but I read that they are louder compared to WD Red Plus.
Also I read that 8 TB disks has air in it and 12 TB disks has helium, which makes them quieter and lower operating temps.

I have the actual year in T3 ( now 2024 )
In column A (21) have the last day of December ( 2024-12-31 ), A22 is ( 2025-01-31 ) and so on. In F21 I will insert the payment I did for December(2024) In F22 I will put in the payment for January(2025) etc.
How I can calculat the sum of the current year? Means: if I pay in December 300euro , it should show 300euro. In January (2025) it should show 0 euro then and calculate the sum of all payments in 2025

First of all I play tank M+ I don't leave unless someone does. Sometimes I do, I run 8-9 currently. Frankly I stay quiet in group focus on content. But f this wth I didn't know this was a rule literally had to read the news post yesterday after the fact. I tried appealing but so far automated response of you knew the rule. Originally I made the ticket without knowing the reason literally the email shown here was sent like 45 minutes prior to putting ticket after seeing ban on login. I think I might quit I am not even someone who played classic or has this huge attachment it it happened to my ironman osrs I be more pissed. Anyway this is my first wow season where I have pushed this high 18-19 in the old scale.
