2024.11.27 12:17 Dry-Pea-4713 [S2 SPOILERS] I UNDERSTAND IT NOW AND I HAVE COME AT PEACE WITH THE ENDING AND HERE IS WHY
Ah, well, here I am again.
Since the drop of season 2 Act 3, I have been on Reddit, posting shit, replying, discussing, and arguing about the ending.
It led me to search for why we feel about the ending as we do, and I thought I had found it. See this post.

Most of what I said in the post mentioned above is true.
But with the reactions to the post, your comments, and reading other posts, I found another and the final piece of the puzzle, an angle that at least I missed.
//So the post explains what Arcane was about, and in my opinion (backed with evidence), it was always about Vi and Jinx and how their actions, decisions, mistakes, and personal connections shape everything in both Piltover and Zaun. Then, I explained why this affected our reaction and understanding of the show's end. Since Vi and Jinx's actions have no consequences in the show's final act and the final battle, they play no role in the end.//
BUT
I have been led to reconsider and change my views, which makes the ending fulfilling. While subtle flaws and specific problems remain, understanding this aspect of the story makes the ending a million times better.
Now, simply evolving the narrative that Jinx and Vi shaped the events of Piltover and Zaun, they did, but it was only Jinx who did it while Vi was present in almost all of them; she was just a catalyst or a guide for Jinx, whose actions shaped it.
Now, I will not write a long, detailed essay about it as my previous post covers it all; if you look at it with the new narrative in mind, you will see it.
But I want to discuss one scene in particular, which, as I explained in my previous post, shapes almost every event leading into the story of Arcane.
'THE JOB'
Vi takes them to the Job, but Powder finds the Hexcrystals and drops one to cause the explosion. This ultimately causes the chain reaction that leads to the Hex core and so on.
Now, Vi is only there to take them to the job, while it's Powder who caused the incident.
This ultimately means she causes all the events to branch off from this scene. Vi is just a catalyst to her actions, which shape up the events, eventually leading to Powder blowing everyone up and Silco adopting her.
Understanding the dynamic of this complex story helps us understand the characters' motivations and reasoning for their actions.
Everything Vi does until the last scene is to protect her family, and Jinx's actions reflect this; Jinx tries to be like Vi and wants to protect her relationship with her. Jinx tries to come back to Vi multiple times in the story when Vi knowingly or unknowingly leaves her.
Both sisters want to return to each other and re-establish their previous relationship. But in every interaction, Vi does something that invokes Jinx and leads her to do something crazy, hurting both Piltover and Zaun.
Looking closely enough, you will find that every act has this point and relationship dynamic at its core, which shapes every event. We start with both sisters trying to find each other each other and ultimately end with them finding each other each other. Then, something Vi does sparks reactions from Jinx that lead to bad events or events directly related to Piltover and Zaun's fate.
But in season 2, another person added to this two-way relationship, Caitlyn.
Her presence with Vi has sparked multiple reactions, leading to deadly consequences from Jinx. But going into season 2, Cait starts to influence Vi's decisions heavily; only due to Cait's influence does Vi, for the first time, believe that her sister is GONE. But the moment her influence is removed, she is back with Jinx, trying to fix her relationship with her.
Act 3 of Season 2 is all about breaking this dynamic, this complex relationship that has unknowingly caused everything around them.
This also makes Episode 7 of Act 3, season 2, much more complex and sad, giving it more meaning.
Because this is the only universe where Vi dies, and doing so removes her as an influence on Powder's decisions.
This does not make Vi evil; this makes it sadder because all she is trying to do is protect the family, and in doing so, she unknowingly pushes Jinx to do all those things.
Talking of Episode 7, I want to mention Ekko as well. He is 'The Boy Saviour,' but he also plays a significant role in the events leading up to the end.
- He is the one who gave Vi the tip for the Job.
- And since almost everything has branched off of that job so, he is involved, but
On the other hand, Jinx finally realizes that this cycle of both sisters wanting to reunite is what causes everything. She asks Vi, "You are never going to give up on me, are you?" and then says she will end the cycle, ultimately removing herself from the equation as she realizes one of them has to go so that chain of events can finally stop.
While Vi's reaction to this information or action might seem soulless or unlike Vi, I think this was sound symbolism; Vi finally stops running after a relationship she cannot fix (it doesn't matter if she knows that this is what has caused all the problems, she just stops), and finally wholly embraces the relationship in front of her.
Now we come to Jinx, who now, after the harsh realization, is trying to kill herself, but Ekko comes, after multiple tries, convinces her not to kill herself (he has time travel, so he also saw her off herself like 5 times, by the way)
no, we dont know much about what happened between this scene and the final battle; the only thing we have is the Jinx Fixes Everything game in League of Legends.
[Mind you, I am not trying to say that the whole of season 2 was perfect; I am just trying to say that after we finally understand the things that are missing from the show, the actual buildup, then the ending is perfect, as every character gets the end they deserve, their journey is completed, and their actions' consequences on the cities are also resolved.]
In the final battle, it might seem like Vi has no role in the ending, but she has never been directly connected to the events. Her influence on Jinx always caused Jinx to commit acts that led to the events in the show.
Ekko and Jinx enter, and Ekko goes to Viktor and ends what he ultimately started by giving that tip.
While Jinx goes to her part of the story, and finally, after many complications, both sisters fight together and ironically against their father, Vander.
Now, towards the end, after Ekko ends Viktor's transformation, everyone's stories conclude. But Vi and Jinx, Vi and Warwick (Vander) end up on the same ledge, which is falling apart, and Jinx lands a little higher on another ledge; in this moment, Vi's protective instincts towards her family awake again, and considering she saw the vander in Warwick a few days ago her reaction to try and see if he is still there makes kind off sense. and then I think if you see closely, there are multiple parallels from episode 1 that come full circle here. Still, at this moment, Jinx switches roles, and for once, instead of being protected, she becomes the protector and takes down Warwick after he tries to attack Vi. Her knowing that as long as she is in Vi's life, Vi will not focus on her life and everything around will keep going to shit, she sacrifices herself and removes herself from Vi's life.
(a sacrifice, in my opinion, symbolic of Isha's sacrifice as both try to take down Warwick in attempting to kill him with themselves and trying to save their sister and motherly figure.)
Now, it's been proven that Jinx is still alive. This still makes the sacrifice worth it, as the goal was to remove herself from Vi's life, which ultimately removed her from Piltover and Zaun's events.
The ending initially had me fuming as it left a hole in me, but ever since I realized this aspect of the story, I no longer have that fire burning in me. Sure, there are problems with the pacing, and they skipped over many things, which made it harder for us to understand the ending. With only one more episode, this ending would have been much better received and understood by everyone, as the buildup would flesh out everything.
I hope understanding this brought you at peace with the ending as it did to me. I am honestly, without a lie, feeling so much fun and better ever since I thought of this angle, and I just wanted to share this as even if this helps one more person, I'll be happy.

Why I try to go to Ledger Academy (https://www.ledger.com/academy), I don't see it's contents; I see the following:

Why is this? It is extremely annoying for multiple reasons.
- I am not in the UK, my current IP address is. (Something I have no control over.)
- Why are people from the UK prevented from seeing this very useful information?
- I try to help others here by posting links to Ledger's website/articles, but I am not even able to see the contents. So I am not even sure if the information that the other user needs is on that page, need to check it on my phone first to know for sure.
To be honest, I am not even really interested in the why. I am sure there is a good reason for it when it was implemented. I am more interested what the answer is to my question: can this be removed? If the answer is "no", then I am interested in the backstory...
