I (21F) started this job last week at a deli and called in sick for a migraine 1.5 hrs before the store opens and my manager wasn’t impressed and said he was looking for someone resilient.
This migraine was so painful, I could barely move to taken medication. It’s really annoying as to how lightly migraines are taken and my manager just wanting me to push through it because he just sees it as a “bad headache”. And i’m even annoyed about the fact that I picked up an extra shift he asked for me to do yesterday which could’ve been a possible trigger for my migraine.
I don’t even know what to say back and so upset that this has happened because I really needed this job to help me out whilst I’m at university.

2024.11.27 15:40 SSCC88 Is it really necessary to have your samples on an external hd?
Hello! I just upgraded to the new m4 Mac mini with 32GB RAM, and 1TB SSD.
I have about 500GB worth of sample libraries, and I'm wondering if it's really necessary to have them on an external hard drive, vs just having them on my internal hd space?
The reason I ask is, right now I do have an external hd for all my Pro Tools sessions, and another one for my sample libraries. But I am noticing some lagging, and occasional color wheel spinning moments. Something I was not expecting with a brand new computer.
So I'm wondering, is it really necessary? Could my external HDs be the problem? They are older g-drives, and use FireWire 400. Not that fast, compared to the newer thunderbolt/ssd drives out there. Would having my samples run natively be smoother? Or will it use up more CPU.
Any thoughts appreciated!! Thanks
p.s. my sessions are typically on the smaller side. 10-20 tracks maybe

I'm going to be on my own tomorrow (Thanksgiving) evening and am looking for good spots to go in the 30-45 minute radius of Spring Valley/Matawan. Ideally, I need somewhere to be from 3pm to 9pm to eat and hang out so suggestions for several places to fill my time are welcome. For dinner, they don't have to be serving Thanksgiving food. It could be something like burgers or pizza, though I'm not opposed to a turkey dinner.

I’m a FTM, my baby just turned 4 months and is sick with cough and colds and i can’t stop crying, I feel like it’s my fault that he caught it when we went outside and it’s so cold. My emotional mama heart is all over the place. We already gave him Tylenol, saline drops on his nose and not cutting his daytime naps for now. I just can’t stop crying especially everytime he’s looking at me and seeking comfort, i wish my hugs are enough🥺. Any tips to let it pass? We’re going to skip Thanksgiving family dinner as well tomorrow.

2024.11.27 15:40 nato1943 ¿Que opinan de las alternativas a X/Twitter que aparecieron? Bluesky, Threads, Mastodon (esta ultima es mas vieja)
Había dejado Twitter hacia rato, y, cuando volví a usarla este ultimo tiempo, me pareció que estaba peor que antes. Ya no existe el verificado como tal, sino que se paga y eso te posiciona por sobre otros. Osea el "tick azul" es un badge de VIP. Pero es que lejos de alejar los bots, ahora debe haber, fácil, el doble y con el tick azul. Y si buen uso el feed de mis seguidos, el algoritmo del "para ti" siento que solo te intenta mostrar lo mas relevante en el país, no tanto mis gustos.
Ya conocía Mastodon pero no me llama la atencion su funcionamiento.
Threads, le competencia de Meta, esta bien. Pero me rompe bastante que este integrado con Instagram y Facebook.
Y vi que esta Bluesky, que es de uno de los creadores de Twitter. La verdad que no la probe, pero si lei que algunas empresas dejaron X por esta ultima ¿tiene algo de especial?
¿Ustedes usan alguna de las alternativas?

I'm quite happy to say I have several cups of dal in the pressure cooker now. I soaked the urad overnight of course, and when rinsing it before putting it in the cooker I noticed that instead of the previous dark black, it's not somewhat green looking. Just wanted to make sure that's typical. The package is definitely urad, I don't remember the name but it's one of the big names from my local trusted desi market, it's not like I'm buying my beans from a guy in a truck at a corner :)

 | Beating a dead horse with this one seeing all the ban posts. This isn't specifically about the false perma-bans but more about how willy nilly they hand out limited matchmaking bans. I just got slapped with one this morning, right at the start of double XP weekend (an unemployed mf's worst nightmare) and it feels extremely frustrating, especially knowing it can take up to 2 weeks to get unbanned. You guys think getting in the unemployment SBMM lobbies is bad? Try playing with 85% God sweats and 15% hackers. These servers are extremely limited too, meaning you'll be matching up with 200+ ping servers, essentially making being competitive unviable. how many innocents being caught in the crossfire is too many? Do you think limited Matchmaking lobbies is a good thing for the game? If so; why? Do you think the system is too strict/quick to hand out bans? Should innocent players be compensated in some way when found that they are innocent?
