2024.11.27 16:37 dr_kilowatt Advice on moving forward after small business

I got involved with a small business of a family friend right out of college, he ended up in a more owner absentee type of role there and basically turned the entirety of operations over to me.
Eventually he gave me some equity in the project due to my position there and things grew from there over the next 12 years.
Late last year we sold the business and the property we acquired alongside it, now I’m looking for work. I’ve worn many hats in my time there, I ran all operations, all payroll, all logistics, all sales, hiring, training, banking, etc. I’ve had my resume done and redone again, and am getting absolutely destroyed in this job market.
I know it’s rough out there, but some of these interviews I’ve been getting for “entry level” work are absolutely baffling.
I’ve been keeping a log of my applications so far this year, I just crossed the 1000 mark, using keywords, custom cover letters, chat gpt then rewriting them in a more human voice.
What is the answer here? Get certs? Get my masters? I’ve networked, called all our old vendors and business partners, friends and family, reached out to classmates, I’m attached to head hunters and recruiters, worked through our professional channels and spoken to just about everyone I can think of regarding this.
Im stuck right in that (not so) sweet spot of under qualified and overqualified it seems. I’m getting tired of being passed over or told “you’d get bored here”
I’m just looking for some practical advice, feel like I’m losing it

2024.11.27 16:37 atmaca35 Just a Guy with $1: A Pepe, a Dream, and the Power of Simplicity

In the bustling intersection of memes and cryptocurrency, where fortunes rise and fall faster than you can say “to the moon,” one figure stands out—not for his grandeur, but for his simplicity. Meet “Just a Guy with $1”, a humble Pepe clutching a single dollar bill, embodying the essence of relatability, humor, and the belief that even the smallest gestures can create waves.
The Spirit of $1
What’s the story behind this lone dollar? It’s not about wealth or status—it’s about the vibe. “Just a Guy with $1” reminds us that the crypto world isn’t just for whales or high rollers; it’s a space for everyone, even the guy with just a buck to his name. He’s a testament to the idea that greatness often starts small and that dreams aren’t measured by the size of your wallet, but by the size of your vision.
Why $1 Matters

  1. Simplicity at Its Finest: In a sea of over-complicated projects and high-entry barriers, “Just a Guy with $1” is a breath of fresh air. No gimmicks—just Pepe, a dollar, and a dream.
  2. Relatable to All: Whether you’re a seasoned degen or new to the crypto space, the message is universal: sometimes, it’s not about the destination, but the journey.
  3. Community Vibes: At its core, this project isn’t just about holding a token. It’s about being part of a movement that celebrates humor, humility, and the collective power of small actions.
The Call to Action
Whether you’re here for the laughs, the sense of belonging, or the slim chance of making history, “Just a Guy with $1” invites you to join in. The mission is simple: be the guy, hold the dollar, and enjoy the ride.
In a world where crypto often takes itself too seriously, this project is a reminder that the greatest revolutions sometimes start with the smallest sparks. So, what are you waiting for? Pepe’s already holding his dollar—now it’s your turn.
Join the journey. Embrace the vibe.

2024.11.27 16:37 avodoggo6 Shank Slightly Thinner After Resize and Repair

Shank Slightly Thinner After Resize and Repair In the past year, I had to get my wedding band repaired once and also had rings resized. After the repair, the shank was a bit thinner than before. While resizing, the jeweler added a bit more metal to “bring it closer to its original width.” It’s definitely better, but there’s still the smallest gap between the rings on my palm side.
As an overthinker, and cannot stop looking at this. I love my rings and don’t want this to be my focus. I guess I’m just looking for reassurance that this is normal/okay.

2024.11.27 16:37 Throwawaygang1224 Bored Almost 80% of the time at work

Just like the title says I'm bored most of the time at work. I recently just got this job about 5 months ago and am still bored as hell at work. I'm coming from a job that I was busy 7 out of the 8 hours I was at work. I'm usually only busy during month end or maybe mid month with random reports or projects.
My boss doesn't have much to give me and he knows I'm not super busy, but he does give me the occasional project here and there which keeps me busy for maybe half a day.
My question is am I stagnating my career staying here? Although this job allows wfh 2x-3x a week and has been a godsend for my WLB. As I'm 27 and was hoping that this job would teach me a lot more and challenge me career wise.
Any advice?

2024.11.27 16:37 Designer-Presence731 AIO: Husband loves getting off on NSFW pages and messaging women. Heartbroken.

My husband(33M) loves to sit on the toilet and just be on the phone in the mornings, likes to scroll and scroll and he’s shown me some communities he follows relating to cars, dogs, our state etc. Anywho, while he was in the shower I had an urge to look through his phone so I can check his Reddit app, his search history was for mostly NSFW communities porn basically so then I checked messages and he started a conversation with a 19 yr old girl who loves to post porn of herself it seems… he said things like having an incredible ass and wanting to eat it etc and proceeded to send a d*ck pic to her, he only replied a one word answer. I’m sure she gets DMs all the time. Point is I’m confused and basically probably want to leave him for it. We’ve been married for under a year now. Feeling disgusted and extremely disappointed. I found a similar message on Instagram a few months ago to a woman only fans looking with similar content and confronted him about it but said that it “didn’t mean anything it’s only to get off” I almost left him then but now he’s done it again and I feel like this is it for me. I have not confronted him yet about the Reddit message I found because of Thanksgiving weekend and not wanting to ruining it for everyone, I’m taking it in by myself for now but I’m spiraling at this point. This makes me feel very insecure about myself and ask myself why is he even with me? Am I married to a pervert? Perhaps.

2024.11.27 16:37 6KRYPT6KEEP6 Graduate Studies Research Survey - Advertising to Japanese Youths and Young Adults

Hello,
My name is Rob, and I'm a graduate student at Kyoto University looking into values and trends that are associated to advertising in Japan, particularly to youth's and young adults, 12 - 25 Y.O. This is just a short 6 question survey, that shouldn't take more than 15 minutes to fill out. My preferred sample is natural born Japanese citizens, but any current Japanese residents will work as well. It would be much appreciated if I could get a couple responses to include in final presentation, Thank You!
What beverage brands do you associate most with youth culture in Japan?
How important are values like individuality, freedom and inclusivity in your culture?
What values do you most associate with Japanese culture?
Which advertising mediums (e.g., social media, TV, billboards) are most common in Japan today?
How do you feel about brands using local cultural elements (e.g., anime, J-Pop) in advertisements?
Would celebrity endorsements by Japanese influencers or international stars appeal more to you?

2024.11.27 16:37 TraditionalBee2439 Offer to interview at Accounting firm

Hello,
So to start with I had an interview recently at a firm, I had a salary range provided by a recruiter, however, after travelling (a reasonable distance) to the interview, impressing the interviewers and already building some rapport with them, I was low balled to the bottom end of the salary range which put me off.
However, another firm has offered me an interview, and this job post does not display any salary at all (yes, potential red flag) I am debating being slightly abrupt and asking them to provide a salary range before attending any interview, again, the firm is almost 50 miles away so I don't want the same/similar issue again. Has anybody asked a potential employer to provide this even when not advertised?
