I hear so often jokes about bald men (bald MEN not bald in general) that are socially acceptable that rub me the wrong way. I try to speak out against it but it’s actually shocking the number of people who are comfortable making those comments in a derogatory way. So many of these people are folks I try to get along with and are otherwise nice. I just can’t help but think of the reactions to someone making a disrespectful joke about a bald woman or a fat woman. It would be taken a whole lot more seriously. I feel the same way about people making fun of short men or small dick jokes. These are all genetic factors! Unlike being a fat person, you cannot control these things! The political correctness around being fat is also quite surprising given how other people with shortcomings are treated. Being fat is something you actually can control.

Hi - I am looking for some advice. I have been in a 750-1000 cal deficit since July 1st 2023 ( it’s now November 27th 2024 at the time of writing). I have lost 7 stone (98lb) since the start of my weight loss journey. The past 6 weeks my weightloss has stalled and I’m finding myself getting more and more hungry. I am still 2 stone away from my goal weight however I was wondering if a diet break of eating at maintenance would help reset my body and metabolism?? To note, I do have a diagnosis of an eating disorder (I suffered in my early teens, I’m now 26) so upping my cals to maintenance feels really scary but seems necessary at this point. Any advice would be muchly appreciated :)

2024.11.27 18:49 ConsistentOlive3426 Thermostat Wire Issue - Recommendations please!
Background: I moved into a rental house early this year. It is a 2 story house, recently built in 2022. From the day I moved in, I was unable to get the downstairs heat to turn on, but upstairs worked fine. I was able to turn the Fan/Cool modes on just fine. I notified the Property manager and they sent out an HVAC technician. After looking at it for over an hour, he said the issue was caused by a short in my thermostat wiring for the Fan/HeatePower wires. I don't remember the exact details as it's been 6 months , but I believe he said the Heater wire was disconnected on the furnace, and that when he reconnected it, one of the fuses blew. He said something like the fan wire had some voltage regulation that didn't cause the fuse issue, which is why the fan still worked. Didn't fully make sense to me, but he ended up disconnecting the fan and heater wires from the thermostat/furnace, and said it needs a new thermostat wire. Because this is a newly built home, my Landlord wants the Builder to resolve the issue, however it's been 6 months and they don't seem to be moving very fast on it after I sent a few emails/texts. I imagine the previous tenant would have had the same issue, so my thinking is they are just going to drag their feet.
I'm now trying to see if I can work around this issue somehow. My initial thought would be that I could re-use the "Cool" wire as my "Heat" wire, and just have to wire it back in the Summer. However, when I tried this, the Heater still did not turn on. All I did was move the "yellow" wire from Y1->W1 terminal on the thermostat, and then moved the same "yellow" wire from Cool->Heat on the furnace controller board. I also did a similar experiment using the "Fan" connections, and that seems to work fine.
Does anyone have any tips/suggestions on what to check/try? My next idea was going to be to hard-wire the Zone1/Zone2 Heat wires together so that both would run at the same time. Not sure if this is allowed or not. Any other suggestions/ideas?

I have just tested positive for covid three days ago and now have extreme dryness ( already had bad but was improving) - also lost sense of smell. As I've had turb reduction and excessive dryness since then should I be concerned -will this get better? The smell ? Also anything coming out of my nose ( if anything at all ) is blood now. Anyone have any idea what might be happening? Also sorry wasn't sure of best place to post this as it crosses into two areas - but figure other ens sufferes are best placed to help.

Hi! Okay so I filed for PFL the day after my SDI ended (11/7) and still haven't received a status update on my claim or payment. I went to the EDD office in San Jose this morning (11/27) to ask what my status was and the lady said that she isn't able to view my status, just that my claim is processing so she's going to email PFL and they will give me a call....
Wondering if anyone has had the same experience and if so, how long did it take you to get approved/paid? When did they call you? Any advice would be great!
