36 with a Bachelor's and Master's. Neither degree has ever been of use to me. Job now isn't shit but it isn't special. The main reason I am considering putting myself through the hell of losing all the weight (I need a goal and I am within inches of using this as my goal) I would need to lose is for the insurance and the help with student loan reimbursement. I am not considering AD because I have 2 young children and one of them is autistic. I don't want to be unable to help with that for the extended time of a deployment. The time for basic and tech school wouldn't be all that unmanageable. I 100% regret not considering joining up when I was graduating high school, but in my defense, it was beat into me go to college get good job and the number of times I heard hey idiot we are at war in 2 different countries right now why would you risk it was enough to just follow the path.
Am I being dumb? Something I haven't found information about is how does your respective AFSC get used when in the reserve vs AD? Obviously you do it full time when AD but for reserve is there certain jobs you simply can't have? From looking at them it seems some wouldn't make sense for someone only doing the 1 weekend a month thing.

2024.11.28 04:40 ohkpues Call Forwarding Against My Will, I Desperately Need Help

I am dealing with an incredibly difficult situation. This started happening about four months ago and it drove me insane; it slowed down for a short period and within the last two weeks it’s happening so much more and now I can’t shut it off at times.
Basically, I will get word from friends and coworkers that my phone is not accepting calls, after looking into it and going to the call forwarding option in settings, I see that my calls were forwarded to a number (+685 5) as shown in the video below.
When I don’t get word that my calls are forwarded, I can sometimes tell that it’s forwarded by the lagginess and just off-beat performance of my phone. It is definitely a weird one. Also, there is a notification/symbol for the call, forwarding on the top left of the iPhone - which only shows sometimes when the calls are forwarded.
Quality purposes, I have never forwarded my phone number or messed with the option in my entire life and until discovering this. I have performed a factory reset. I am using an eSIM provided by T-Mobile and have been for around four years now. My iPhone is always updated to the current iOS.
As you can see in the video, when I go to delete the number, it does not delete itself. I cannot turn it off of call forwarding sometimes, also shown in video. In frustration and desperation, I changed the call forwarding to my phone number. (I am not redacting my phone number from the example video because I want to show entirely what is going on.)
Many of my friends and coworkers say that during phone calls weird things happen and I sound different sometimes - some people say that they hear a “tapping sound, sort of like a metronome” during my calls with them, but this last fact I do not humor as it is too far-fetched and can make one sound crazy. However, while definitely being a little creepy, the situation is incredibly frustrating and I need to find a fix.
Posting here in iOS as I am too busy to get to the Genius Bar or the T-Mobile store in my current day-to-day, I hope you guys can help me - thank you!

2024.11.28 04:40 hazeandgraze AITAH for expecting my fiance to move into a mobile home while I live in our new house?

Writing for a friend who doesn't have Reddit.
My Fiance (29M) and I (27F) have recently purchased a new home and we were very excited especially since it would be ready to move into before Christmas.
My ex husband (32M) who I share two children with (5,6) has always made things difficult for me since I left our abusive marriage 2 years ago, especially once I started seeing my fiance, and even more so once I had his child (4months). This has resulted in my ex taking out a restraining order with false allegations against my fiance, which we are contesting but the hearing isn't until early Jan, so in the interim we have to abide by the terms of the order which state that my fiance cannot be within 20m of the shared children or 50m of their home address even if they're not there. My fiance had to move in with my dad the night he was served.
I also took a RO against my ex (before he took one out on me) for harrassment and abuse, and due to his recent actions and comments have been withholding the children under legal advice and DCP advice because he's genuinely a danger in his current state.
Because of this we can't move into the new home all together, either I move in with the 3 children or my fiance does.
There is a mobile home available on my mum's property, but it doesnt have plumbing so all showering, toileting etc has to be done inside the main house, as does any cooking/kitchen stuff.
My fiance thinks he should move into the house whilst me and the 3 children move into the mobile home, and his reasoning is that I can't afford the home by myself, he wants to set up the cameras and other security measures, his parents helped us with the deposit for the home, it will only be temporary until the contest hearing in January, and also that because of the RO he wouldn't be able to live in his new house even if the children weren't present.
My stance is why would 4 of us live in a mobile home when there is a full house available, especially as there's no plumbing, and if it's not going to be for long anyway why wouldn't he financially pay for his share of the mortgage as if he was living there since that's what will happen after the hearing anyway.
The whole home process hes been acting like it's his home only when we're both on the deed and both financially contributing, and the only reason I contribute less is because I'm still on maternity leave from having HIS CHILD.

Hi,
I have a single-stage furnace (installed around 2011) and had an HVAC technician about 8 months ago adjust the settings as best as he could to try to improve heating balance across my home, especially in the basement. They also recommended running the fan 24/7, which has helped create more even temperatures. However, with winter in full swing, I’ve noticed strange behavior, and I’m not sure what’s causing it.
I’m using a Nest thermostat and have disabled the "Auto-Schedule" and "Away" modes, relying solely on my preset schedule. For example, I set the temperature to 22.5°C (72.5°F) at 4 PM and should go till 11:30pm, but by 7 PM, the temperature in the bonus room remains stuck at 18°C (64.4°F). Finally, around 9 PM, it begins to warm up, reaching 19.5°C (67.1°F) and keeps going up with it now at 20.5°C (68.9°F).
At 7pm when I noticed it just kept at the same temperature I tried to raise it even higher to 23.5°C (74.3°F) but still no change until magically at 9pm it decided to kick in and start to warm.
I have thermostats all around my house to monitor, I got one even by the NEST to see what it could be reading as I do have a register near the NEST (seem to be bad placement, but I am not HVAC person so maybe it is fine) and that thermostat was only reading at 7pm around 20°C (68°F) and I had the NEST set to 22.5°C (72.5°F) so I don't think it is because the NEST thinks it reached the right temperature.
It seems like the furnace is taking hours to begin blowing warm air. This has happened a few times, one was when I got up and noticed the house was cold and confirmed with all my thermostats that sometime in the early morning all the temperatures plummeted.
It took hours till all suddenly it just suddenly started to blow hot air, even registers that are very close to the furnace and usually blow very warm air were not. Then it was great and no problems for like a week and now two days in a row, fine when I got up to go to work nice and toasty, and then when I came home in the evening bad and taking hours till heat up even though like I said I can see the NEST is set at the right temperature I want it to be 22.5°C (72.5°F).
First time I thought it was because I had MERV 13 filter in there and thought maybe it overheated or something. I changed it to MERV 8 what people recommend more and that is now like 1 or 2 weeks old max.
Like I said, it was serviced 8 months ago and no problems found and was told in good condition.
Do I just not understand how the furnaces work, or is something more going on? I am not sure if I should call in the HVAC guy again.

I don’t exactly know how to ask the question I really wanted to ask, so I’ll provide an explanation.
Many of us grow up learning some interesting things about the world. If someone didn’t know the difference between a mammal and a reptile, or if they don’t understand the water cycle, they would be considered ignorant. But we learn so much about this stuff when we are young. And I suspect that a lot of this knowledge can be forgotten easily if you aren’t regularly engaging with it. What should we remember and how should we go about remembering it? What more should we know? What is essential knowledge? You can’t know everything, and you only have so much time to learn when you are an adult.
Some things I thought of is this. Reading, writing, interpersonal communication, workplace communication, arithmetic. Those are things I think many people would agree with. But at the end of the day, that isn’t a lot. I just think there has to be more?
