hey all I am a newish player, played about 5 games only with friends tho
There is a local game store thay i have been lurking around for a bit. And they have a summer league.
i really want to play more games, but i'm pretty anxious about joining a league.
of course i am aware that many stores have different cultures and vibes, but in general are summer leagues casual and newbie friendly.
I know the rules and my army pretty well at this point, and have watched far too many battle reports, but should my first game with other people than friends be in a league ?

me (18f) and my boyfriend (20m) have been dealing with a demonic granddaughter of our landlady.
for context, she is a stocky drama queen who will blatantly make passes at my boyfriend in front of her fiancé (poor guy). and about 4 years ago she threw herself at my boyfriend till they slept together and he called it quits the next day.
my boyfriend has told me to refrain from kicking her out of our space because she will “make a scene” (idgaf)
she has called him “her soulmate” and done a whole bunch of other things to make me uncomfortable and my foot is PUT DOWN.
she’s so miserable i need at least four drinks to be around her and i hate alcohol.
tomorrow is thanksgiving. i smell troubled waters. my boyfriend is being a pansy about it and yes i’ve confronted him. none of his girlfriends have liked her and she thinks it’s some bragging right and has concocted a story about me where she thinks i was crazy about her man who looks like a smushed claymation character.
do i clap back or be resilient? this could cause trouble with her gma which is our landlady.
i’m also thoroughly unimpressed with how my man has handled this.

This relates more so to Harvard’s Statement of Perspective but I suppose it could still be relevant for diversity statements.
Would I be correct in thinking that this statement does not have to DIRECTLY incorporate law and my reasons for law school? Like could it be as simple as this experience gave me a valuable trait/worldview and it will help me in law school?
I’m not an exceptionally diverse person (white, straight male, middle class, etc.) so I was considering writing about my statement about how my parents fled a war in their home country and came here with basically nothing. My dad did a lot of manual, tiring labor and he always told me to do well in school so I could have more opportunities than he did. This helped me develop a deep appreciation for education and motivated me to work hard to seize the opportunities I have. I was also considering mentioning how I saw many of cousins, whose parents came to this country under similar circumstances as my parents, drop out of school or not apply themselves and thus end up doing the same jobs their dads did. But, I’m not sure whether to include this cause it sounds like I’m taking a shot at my cousins.
I know this is a lot, but any advice would be very helpful. Thank you.
