Hey all! So I'm currently doing research on two fairly obscure gods mentioned in various Greek myth compendiums: Beroë and Golgos, the only daughter and son of Aphrodite by Adonis. Beroë has been tricky but not impossible- she has nearly 3 books out of the Dionysiaca (Nonnus) dedicated to her birth story and love triangle with Dionysus and Poseidon. But so many dictionaries, websites, etc. mention that she had a brother named Golgos, who was the supposed founder of the ancient city of Golgi in Cyprus. At first I thought it was a faked god made up online since the Wikipedia sources led to almost nothing, but I recently got my hands on Robert Graves' 'The Greek Myths' (written 1950s if I recall) that mentions his name and the city he founded as well. Which surprised me! But it didn't give me anything more about him or what myths mention him, and the edition I bought didn't cite any sources at the end. Further digging through ToposText led me to 'Ethnica' by Stephanus of Byzantium (6th century AD), which, lo and behold, said all the same only briefly except for the addition that he 'led the Sikyonians to Golgoi (Golgi) in Cyprus'...which never led me to much else about him either. And THEN I found the city mentioned in 'Dictionary of Greek and Roman Biography and Mythology' by William Smith in 1870...again, no new info.
I know it's strange, but I am sorta fascinated by this character lol. If he's mentioned in virtually all of these good Greek myth encyclopedias, why do none of them have info about him? I'm just wondering if anyone could possibly name a source for any of these findings. Thanks so much guys!

2024.11.28 05:30 Few-Lingonberry6813 I made several mistakes at work yesterday and I am anxious over them

Yesterday at work, I offered to help my coworker count the money in her register at the end of her shift. She had done so about 30 minutes- 1 hour previously, but since it was a busy day, she had to do it again. I made several stupid mistakes on the calculator, (mainly by pressing the wrong button, causing us to restart the process) and she got angry with me, saying I “owed her” for this. I apologized and even offered to count it so she could leave, since it was the end of her shift, but she insisted. I work with her alone on Friday for several hours, so I am worried about things being awkward, or her still being pissed at me. Did I handle this correctly, and how should I handle things on Friday? I would appreciate y’all’s advice.

2024.11.28 05:30 Imaginary_Ad_365 Movie recap channel idea: need some opinions

So, recently I had the idea to create an YouTube movie recap channel. I know people probably are used to the archetype of recap channel where the narrator (usually an AI robotic voice) just states what's happening and basically that's it. Plus there are some people that literally just takes the movie synopyse on internet and ask GPT to rewrite it, or ask for it to create a synopyse itself straightfoward. Althought the effort is little, the chance of success is little as well. That's why I came up with something else: instead of just narrate what's going on, I will actually 'analyze' the film in the sense of trying to beat it. Since in horror movies in general (in which I'll focus) protagonists are that dumb, I think it'd be a nice idea to analyze their errors and what they could've done differently to survive/beat the enemy. I'll also hire a professional editor (because I'm not good at it), however my key distinction will be the fact that I'll hire a professional voice actoactress for each video. I've never seen anyone doing it. What do you guys think? Any tips/advices?

I’m not even sure if I’m searching at all. All I know is there is this ever present gaping void in my soul. Was it always like this? Is it supposed to be this way? It’s not lusting or love or even desire. Those are just the temporary stuffings I tend to shovel inside when the daunting vacancy becomes too obvious.
It’s perplexing that most people who die and come back never speak about how difficult it is to pursue life once again. That deep seated knowing is forever present and the longer you go, the more years that past by, the bigger the “something” grows.
I trick myself into believing you would have the answer to any of these questions. Truth is you couldn’t hang on either. Maybe that’s the whole gimmick? Maybe the ones who take it upon themselves are really the only ones who get out? Maybe they just know or better said remember something we have all forgotten?
I miss your soul. Is that what’s missing? Is it missing at all or has it been absorbed and transformed? Beckoning my own forward….

This is my first foray into what audible calls lit RPG. I just binged the complete series in three weeks and can’t wait for February 11th. Re-listening already to prep for the release and to catch what I may have missed. Discovered the series through recommendations from Bobiverse sub.
I love how often they run through their stats. Donut at xx Charisma and xx Intelligence plus this buff from this item. Carl’s pugilist skill adds this bonus to that attack and etc.
It satisfies some ADHD part of my brain I think. Is this typical of the genre?
