2024.11.28 09:40 WeirdoAndPen [s2 spoilers] Why I believe season 2 of arcane is not good, and pales in comparison to season 1. Please take the time to read this, as I would love to hear your thoughts.

(This post contains spoilers) Many of us are quite unhappy and disappointed with season two. I still don't understand why more people aren't talking about it, but mind you I am NOT hating on y'all. Like what you like :). Nevertheless, below are the main reasons I think that is the case. They will go from most impactful to least impactful.
Before I do, for the record, I think season one of arcane is one of the most cinematically amazing pieces of media ever. And, i think that episodes 2, 3, 4 and 7 of s2 are all good, ESPECIALLY 7.

  1. There's too much going on. I think this is the main flaw. The 8 different plots don't all need to exist, and sad scenes often aren't as sad because we haven't had proper time to connect with the characters. For example, I feel that Isha's death, while sad as a concept, was not as sad as it should have been because of the fact that all the time we could have had to properly develop her character was used on the other plot lines. I think, personally, Isha should have died in act 3, so that we had more time to connect with her and have cooler experiences.
  2. God damn Warwick. Completely unnecessary use of act 2 that could have instead been used to expand the perfectly good setup established in episode 4. I don't get it, they made this rly promising concept of jinx being the rebellion symbol of zaun with sevika and isha at her side, and gave us some rly lovely interactions with her and isha, and then just introduced warwick and completely ditched that setup and sevika along with it. Then, they kill off (essentially) warwick/vander two episodes later. I think we gain very little in reality from act two because of this, and it's rly only a reason for jinx to go insane again.
I have more problems with warwick, like the fact that it just doesn't sit right with me that they added Vander being conscious sometimes. His death was so meaningful and sad in season 1, so kind of bringing him back just doesn't rly sit right with me. And yes, I know it's lore, but that doesn't mean they had to add it. Overall, I just think act two should have been used differently.
  1. Pacing. Things just happen too fast, and some things happen way too slow. For example, in episode 4, which I have mentioned before I actually rly liked, I feel like Jinx's little crisis with the voices in her head was wayyyyy too fast and rushed. And don't even get me started on act 3. If you thought they could successfully wrap up 8 different plots in three episodes, kudos to u honestly.
It's also episode spacing. I honestly think episode 7 (which is btw arguably the greatest episode in the season maybe even the whole series, I'll get to it later) should have been episode 5 and episode 6 should have been some more development for Jinx, Isha and Sevika, along with Cait (cause I feel like they made her a dictator but didn't rly show us how). Then act 3 should have instead been some good, fleshed out finale where we actually feel more sad for the characters dying, and not just cause it's sad, but because we had time to connect emotionally with them.
  1. Black rose. Listen, I get that they are trying to set up a new series. But if they want to do that, they should either give it a bigger role in the season, or establish it in another series. I honestly wish they had just cut this from arcane and focused on what was already there. The amount of times i had to consult the internet as to what the hell black rose wanted and what they had to do with ambessa is not ok. I completely forgot about them because they only gave them one or two scenes in acts 1 and 2, and then just crammed everything into act 3. Mel being a mage, btw, rly not what I wanted to see from her this season. I was hoping she'd be her usual, politically smart self, trying to outwit her mother. But yeah, just a rly big waste of time that could have been used better.
  2. Viktor. On paper, I really like the idea of Viktor becoming this complex villain that wants to help everyone but is damning them in the process. But act 3 made it so complicated. Every sentence that came out of his mouth felt like a riddle, and I didn't know what he wanted half the time. I also don't know why ambessa thought she'd be free from his grip but I digress.
This one isn't as big, but I still wish it was done better. Viktors ending with jayce and the stone has so many plot holes and the whole idea of Viktor giving jayce a rune as a child just leaves so many questions. Could have been fleshed out better.
  1. Episode 7. Holy sh*t, this episode is amazing. It gave me so much hope for the season, because the music, concept, animation, voice acting, everything is so emotional and gripping. You really feel for every character, and Ekko and Powders relationship is just so beautifully written. My issue with it is that we didn't see enough of it.
Once again, this was crammed into act 3 after a wasted act 2. I do think the alternate universe should have stuck to one episode still, but Ekko's behaviour and interactions with Jinx afterwards should have been WAYYY more developed and meaningful. Again, this one isn't big, but I just would have liked to see more of this rather than warwick and black rose.
  1. "maybe some part of my sister is still in there". This one isn't massive, it just kind of irks me. I love that we see more emotional scenes from jinx and isha and vi, but idk season one's finale showed that she chose jinx, a monumental moment. So if you come in with season 2 and warwick (again sry i rly dont like warwick) and say that maybe there's some part of powder left, it kinda makes you think "so what was the point of season one then". But I'm not saying it shouldn't exist, I'm just saying maybe they could have done it through isha more instead of warwick and way more slowly. Again, could have made a better finale.
  2. Shield guy. This one is pretty small, I just don't understand why they introduced this super cool character in episode one, then totally forgot about him, giving him only a few more lines and some small action. He could have been an amazing character had they given him a bigger role, and if he barely does anything, why make him a character in the first place? this one could just be me, but yeah.
There could be some stuff I missed out but these are the main points. Please please please let me know if you agree with something, or if you disagree. Again, I'm not hating on anyone's opinion, I just wanted to express why I think s2 is disappointing. Thanks!

Another set of secondhand puzzles in perfect condition. The Lion King one still has the plastic blister on!
I just could not resist but I will stay of Vinted for now cause it’s dangerous for my bank account!
Yes there are thrifted and I try to stay within a budget for them (at least half the retail price, shipping included) but compared to the hauls I see here, mostly North American’s, the prices of secondhand in France is still more expensive.
And because my puzzle corner can get a bit dark at night, when I mostly do puzzles, I got a small clip-on wireless lamp to add to my table and it’s perfect! It’s ajustable, has 3 warmth’s of colors and rechargeable. Highly recommend for small spaces!

Serious question: What is going on with this game's mechanics? The input delay is beyond frustrating. It feels like the game cannot keep up. Today, while playing online, my character kept flying upward even though I was not pressing anything close to that command.
This is not just a one-time issue. The input lag makes basic gameplay feel unresponsive, and the controls often fail to work correctly. This is especially noticeable in competitive matches where timing is critical. The delay completely disrupts the flow and makes precise combat nearly impossible, which is a huge issue in a skill-based game.
I am wondering if others are having similar problems or if there is any solution for this, because it feels like the game is fundamentally broken. Are the developers even addressing this?

Extremely turbulent relationship here. Looking back there were definitely all of the signs that I did not know existed. The splitting, the love bombing and so on. We are 20 years into our relationship and have been wedded for 17 years. I truly hope I make it out of this alive. Because right now I feel so broken in every way. We are both in our mid 40s.
We’ve been having significant relationship and money problems for the past two years. She’s been in therapy for 10 years, I’ve been in therapy for five and we’ve been in couples therapy for a year and a half.
We came home from work on Halloween and she told me that she was moving out for a trial separation. Very little discussion was had on this matter beforehand and all that she told her two children that she was moving out. She did tell me afterward that it is supposed to be to try to repair our relationship
Less than a week later, we are switching places because she does not feel safe there . So now I am moved out of our house. Within another week, I receive divorce papers, along with an alimony request. Another week after that and she tells me she has a new crush.
So within the timeframe of 3 1/2 weeks, we go from moving out to repair our relationship to opening ourselves up to crushes and additional love and validation. My head is just spinning. She has now accused me of rape, financial abuse, and verbal abuse. I just don’t know what to do.
I long for her in every way, and it hurts to be apart from her. I am sitting here in tears after being woken by a panic attack. This is my first time posting and I feel so lost and alone.

My radiators are currently disconnected due to building work going on and UK weather is freezing at the moment.
My old gas fire basket has been completely disconnected from the gas and pipes removed etc. It is broken but could I light a real fire in it using wood? It's in a real brick fireplace with an open chimney so smoke would leave via the chimney so I'm wondering would this be safe?
