2024.11.28 14:50 heyyyjoo I analyzed the 25 most recommended dash cams on reddit
 | I’m doing some analysis on reddit data and looked at the most recommended dash cams in the past year. Thought I’d share the results here. Its part of a side project of mine to play with Reddit data and LLMs. The goal was to create something useful for the community while learning and improving my development skills. Hopefully it’ll be helpful / interesting to some. The idea is that it can paint a picture of which are the most well reviewed ones, which can be a useful data point for someone trying to make sense of the massive amount of fragmented information out there. Methodology: For extraction and sentiment analysis, I used the Reddit API to scour reddit for discussions on dash cams across all subreddits (limited to threads within one year for freshness). I sampled 276 relevant threads and used LLMs to analyze, extract, and categorize opinions from the comments. I also extracted info about the dash cams being referred to and used that info to lookup the models on Amazon. Unfortunately for now the list only shows models available on Amazon (for simplicity’s sake). For ranking, I calculated the normalized difference and ratio between the no. of positive and negative user sentiments, and used that to determine the final score for ranking. Caveat: Handling and merging different descriptions, model numbers, abbreviations etc, and associating them with the right variation is non trivial, so its not 100% accurate. Since the original releases in the 90s-00s I have put OKC on the S tier and treated Kid A as the lesser LP but listening to both of them again now, I think I have changed my mind. Ive build a few PC`s in the past but busy life etc i decided to get PC Specialist to build my current one and in fairness the build quality is top class but i seem to be an old BIOS version for my ASUS PRIME X670-P-CSM motherboard.
There seems to be no less than 11 new BIOS releases since then so it got me thinking if i should update?
I do recall the doing so with PCS builds can void your warranty if anything goes wrong.
