Hi, im a highschool student graduating this year and i really spontaneously decided i actually want to apply for an art degree and i am looking into photography at kabk. Even though i do art through many mediums in my free time, i never actually thought about studying it as i was always determined to be a biologist and spend the rest of my life going into academics and maybe eventually teaching. Now i realised that maybe i do actually want to dedicate some part of my life to arts as i thrive in highly creative fields. I now have like 3,5 months to come up with a portfolio and i am lowkey really lost. As i said before, i do spend some time drawing, painting and taking photos, but it really isn't enough to develop my skills to a sufficient technical level, as compared to the works my friends who are taking arts as a subject have for their portfolios, because i dont have much free time(im an IB student). I am kinda scared that my lack of like an actual arts education will make it impossible or extremely hard for me to get in, but ig i am going to try anyway. That said, due to insufficient experience in this field , i would really aprecieate if anyone, firstly, had some advice, other than on whats on the website, regarding the portfolio and secondly, if anyone could maybe share theirs as an example because i really dont know what to do🙏🙏

2024.11.28 17:33 Donniedolphin DAO keeps crashing for me. Help a Warden out?
I've started a playthrough using the "Just a Humble Warden" modlist through Wabbajack and it ran perfectly fine, but now I can't get past the main menu without it crashing. I've patched the .exe file and turned my graphics down to low, and nothing helps. Any advice on what I can do to get back to playing?

2024.11.28 17:33 kitney Houston’s animal shelters are at the breaking point, temporary fosters urgently needed to save dogs/cats from euthanasia.
I just wanted to share that almost every shelter in the Houston area is at its breaking point - the euthanasia lists are longer and dogs and cats are not getting a fair chance at finding homes. Often dogs come in and are placed on the list right away due to space. If the dog is timid, or has any issues it’s placed almost immediately on the list. There are rescues that can pull these dogs from the shelters but without fosters -both short term and long term they cannot.
Mamas and their babies are on these lists daily, seniors who are only there because their owners died, street dogs who never had a chance. They all deserve a chance at a happy life.
If you can open your home for a dog or cat for just a few days or weeks it means you can save a life.
Please think about it.

For context we are due to go on holiday tomorrow morning at 6am until Monday night and my best friend phoned me not too long ago to say that her granda has taken a turn and she has been asked to come home by her parents (she lives away from home)
We booked and paid for this holiday ages ago and it’s money we cannot afford to lose. I phoned the holiday company and they said we would need to provide a death certificate if we wanted a refund/to move it to a different date. But this isn’t one of our family members so that wouldn’t be possible. I’m so torn on what to do.

Hi there! I was thinking about learning a language that is very far away from the languages I know and wondered if it would be easier to only learn by listening and maybe speaking. Especially other writing systems can be tough and There are languages I'm interested in without the wish to read and write with them.
On the other hand, I would guess it could be more difficult to understand the grammar of said languages.
What is your experience and/or advice?

I know Bluesky is open source, meaning a buyout like what happened to Twitter will be not as easy. So I'm then left wondering if the success of Bluesky will lead to jealous billionaires (namely Zuckerberg and Musk) trying to get the platform shut down, and if so, how can people fight back against that?

Gunna be getting a new set of Summer tyres for my C Class Estate, 1510 kg / 272 PS / 350 Nm. (I’ll have a separate set of winter tyres).
Currently has Conti Sport Contact 5 all round, they’re great. I’ve previously had Michelin Pilot Sports, also great.
Before I pull the trigger on a set of one of these (they’re a similar price), is there anything else in the same ball park worth considering?
