Hey everyone,
I wanted to share a disturbing experience I had with Zepto recently, and I feel it's important for others to be aware.
I ordered two packs of cigarettes, which should have cost ₹680 as per the MRP. But when I got the bill, the total came to ₹697.28 for the items alone. They charged an extra ₹17.28 over the MRP! Which they say as gst on delivery charges of 27 rupees.. Bc it's mehenga bhi nahi hua Hai gst
On top of that, even though I'm a Zepto Pass member (which is supposed to give me free delivery on orders above ₹199), they still charged me a delivery fee of ₹27. And here's the kicker—the GST on this delivery fee was ₹17.28. How does that make sense? GST on ₹27 shouldn't be that high.
I feel completely cheated. It's not just about a few extra rupees; it's about trust and honesty. If a company is willing to overcharge and sneak in extra fees, what else are they doing behind the scenes?
I reached out to customer service, but they weren't helpful. This isn't the kind of service I expected, especially from a company that prides itself on convenience and customer satisfaction.
I'm sharing this to warn others:
Check your bills carefully. Don't assume the charges are correct.
Speak up if something seems off. Companies need to know we won't tolerate being overcharged.
Also to mention they have committed a crime
Has anyone else experienced this with Zepto or other delivery apps? Let's hold them accountable.

2024.11.28 19:50 JurassicP0rk Elderly parents keep setting off fire alarm. It's stressing our dog out.
I live with my elderly parents. They keep burning food in the kitchen, setting off the smoke detector, and stressing out the family dog.
They're unable to accept that they're losing the capability to cook and take care of themselves.
I do my best to cook for them, but they refuse my help, and get really agitated at the implication that they may need help.
I don't know how to deal with this, and it happens when I'm at work, so I can't just take the dog outside.
Is there a type of smart home system that will allow me to manually stop smoke detectors once they're beeping, while still being able to alter the fire department when they go off?

I know there are books targeting how to design good APIs in C++ using modern software practices, but what about books/blogs that talk about designing specifically a HAL? Some topics I'm interested in learning:
- Creating interfaces for mock hardware for testing/validation purposes.
- Designing test harnesses that uses a mix of mock hardware and real hardware.
- Good modern C++ API design patterns for hardware abstraction. Specifically, making sure HAL is adaptable enough to swap underlying hardware without disrupting the high level application too much (or at all).
- How to identify most commonly used features and abstract away the rest, while still remaining extendible.
- How to ensure a seamless cross-talk between the HAL C++ layer and the low-level C layer?
- Some real life examples of dos and donts.

Howdy neighbors. This is the third time our main line has backed up and we are thinking it’s a city issue. Is anyone else living around Donaghey by corner pantry having issues with their plumbing backing up? The first two times we managed to catch it but this time it flooded half of our house, including getting into all three bedrooms 😭😭
How do we go about figuring out if it’s a city thing? Do we contact Conway corp? City hall?
We aren’t requesting plummers at this time so please don’t offer recommendations, we have a home warranty and we also know someone we may use if we don’t go the home warranty route. The point of this post is to see if others are dealing with similar things, and if anyone knows how to go about bringing this to the city’s attention 😭 thank you for reading!

It's not too late for me (29M) to turn it around and find a good office job as I'm only NEET since 07/2023. I held corporate office jobs in the past and I'm college educated. If I desired to fit in with the normies I still can. I'm above average in looks so if I really want I can get a girlfriend or perhaps a family.
I applied to some jobs and wrote on my CV a lie that I was trading the financial markets, since 07/2023 when I got fired from my last job. Although I did not held my jobs down for a long time, I still have work experience and references to build upon.
Nowadays I live on disability income which is €1320/month in my country. I won't lose the benefits in the first year of working. I have a vulnerability to psychosis so high stress jobs and careermaxxing is not for me.
I could take home a total net compensation of about €2400/month if I would find a similar office job as what I did in the past.
With the extra money, I could for instance travel or eat out or buy nice things for myself as I live rent free in a studio appartment which is property of my family. I think I have less urges to travel and am less materialistic than normies, hence why I was comfortable being NEET with my disability income.
Would you turn it around if you could or stay NEET?

This is going to be ranty. A short intro. I'm on the deeper end of the autistic spectrum but people don't generally notice because I can talk and such. I'm pretty socially inept, though, and pretty introvert. I've mostly kept to myself and I think I was a good kid. As in, no booze, no drugs, no smoking, no weird friends (my mother would disagree, she never liked my secondary school buddies although what we did was basically an introverts' book club, again, no booze etc., just maybe too much coffee). I guess that this basically led my parents to want me at home and at hand because as a kid, I just was and I somehow failed to get outta there. Anyhow. I'm 40+ and I moved back to parents' because I needed help with my kid. I did not really want said child but I miscarried and they made sad faces and just everyone made sad faces. Boyfriend graciously left me because he wanted to have more fun in life. Parents promised there and back how they would help me, how I'm always welcome, how they'll respect my parenting decisions, yadda yadda yadda. Also, I live in Big Town, my parents live in a Small Town some 250 km away where I relocated but I sometimes go to Big Town to do my stuff.
Now... I've never got too well with my mother in the last two decades or so but she seems to developed into an excellent malignant narcissist who loves to build her ego by stomping on mine. My father used to show some empathy but lately, his universal reaction is that I'm not trying enough and that mother has so much on her plate and I'm just lazying around and doing nothing. Both agree that I'm a shitty mother and use it against me while pretending genuine care. The last drop was when my mother got a hissy fit about dust on the piano and I was on a receiving end of a long rant about how I wanted a piano so she took a loan and bought it and it took her five years to repay the loan and how I never thanked her and I never thanked her for all the clothes, shoes, holidays, skiing trips, how she got me out of all the troubles I caused and at the end she called me a leech, cheater, liar, thief and an ingrate miscreant. For a clarification, my parents bought that piano when I was around seven and no, I didn't hold them at gunpoint. I don't remember whether they signed me up at the music school when I was five because I asked them to or whether they saw that I was interested in music and thought it a good idea. However, at that age of mine, it was entirely up to them. And yes, I didn't dust said piano, I am somewhat messy and awfully tired and there are more important things than goddamn dusting. When I have the time and energy, I try to do some writing. When I don't have the energy, I sleep. But according to my mother, I am not depressed, I'm faking it for attention and I'm also not trying hard to get better. Also, I apparently never do anything right. I'm on parental leave but I still got a part-time job. When I go to work, it's baaad because I'm not at home. The other day, I came back earlier and my father kept ranting that I'm home too early, that's not what he'd call work, I'm just slacking. (There was nothing to do so why should I loiter around in the office.) When I do something around the house, I should have done something else, I should have done it differently or it's done so badly that it's just a waste of time. When I do nothing because I'm tired in general and in particular from that constant nagging, I'm lazy. When I want to hang with my own child, my parents don't let me. I need to be supervised because I'm sick in my head and what if I did something to the child. At the same time, I'm faking the depression, right?
Now, would I be the asshole if I just packed my shit and moved away and left my parents and the kid? I just want to live my life, finish my Ph. D., have a job and do all the normal things without being told off constantly.

 | Let me know if you have ANY leads on this one, even guesses: North Carolina, USA Nov. 3 2024 Substrate: dead tree in mixed conifehardwood forest. Couldn’t ID tree because right where this picture cuts off the tree was cut off too. I don’t know trees like that to ID off of bark alone. No branches or leaves to look at either. Desc: Wood decay bracket fungus. Top of fruiting body ranging from tan to light brown to off white with clear zones of differentiating colors. Bodies ranging from 3-12 cm and are rather thin and crispy. GILLS PRESENT! Gills close to crowded, very thin and dark brown in every present specimen. NO pores present near the base of fungus, even in the smaller specimens, so I’m not sure if they’re true gills or elongated pores, which is the main issue here. I can’t find any bracket fungi with gills that are close other than Lenzites betulinus but I know that’s not it because 1. I collected L. betulinus at the same time as this at the same place and it’s way different and 2. my mycology prof agrees, this one is hard for us to ID. KOH is dark brown on surface. I was unable to get a spore print so it’s fair to assume this is an older specimen. Haven’t looked under the scope yet but willing and able.
