for Thanksgiving and Christmas in my family we do a turkey based spaghetti sauce. Great Grandma's recipe, it's my favorite family tradition. anyone else's family do the same or similar? I've brought it up few times with friends and they all think it's nutty lol

2024.11.28 18:30 Able-Leader7736 Help - First time on doxy and weird new bump appeared.

I’ve been struggling with a “rash” for over a year on my temple. My derm first thought it was sebhorric dermatitis and after using ketoconzcale, it made the rash much worse and so he then said it was PD. I’ve been on tacrolimus for a month and a half with no real progress (I.e. one day it looks slightly better, the next day it’s much worse, and repeat). He gave me a prescription to doxycycline if the tacrolimus wasn’t effective enough, so I just started doxycycline 4 days ago. I definitely noticed that the rash was improving, but now all of a sudden I have this large red bump on my cheek. At first I thought it was a pimple and put a pimple patch on it, but it did nothing. 2024.11.28 18:30 cerzi Google Guaranteed - fraudster company?

Moved into new house yesterday and when we got there discovered (among other fun surprises) the conservatory roof was leaking, with water dripping down on to the floor. In the chaos and stress of it all I googled for local tradesmen and saw one with 5 stars, plenty of reviews and this big green "Google Guaranteed" tick. Normally I'd go through checkatrader or whatever but in the rush I saw these things and called up.
They were round pretty quick, got a bit of a weird vibe from them but agreed to the job, they said they would send more info over and be back to do the work next morning. Later I decide I should trust my instincts and probably call it off but in the chaos of everything it slips my mind.
Next morning they appear and get to work, friendly enough but maybe a bit shifty. They spend 30 mins or so doing something, mostly trying to upsell us on work that would be 10x the cost. I declined and asked they just finished the agreed work - got a few more sales pitches but they mostly seemed to be finishing up.
At the end they asked for payment in cash and I said can't they do bank transfer, to which they said we had agreed cash the day prior. They wanted to take us to a nearby cashpoint so we could withdraw it all but I declined saying I'd be much happier with an invoice and bank transfer (partly because I wanted to see the breakdown of costs as I was already a bit concerned they hadn't done the work we had agreed on). Immediately they turn aggro and act like I was trying to screw them, I repeat that I'm happy to pay but it needs to be bank transfer. One of them even attempts to get my credit card number during this exchange as some kind of bizarre compromise.
Eventually they say they will go down to "the office" to get an invoice printed out, but later on I'm getting calls from them demanding cash, and I'm repeating my position that I'm happy to pay, just give me those bank details. At this point I even agree to pay 20% more as they said the previous price wasn't including VAT. Again they switch back to a reluctant reasonableness and say they'll get an invoice and guarantee written up.
Later on my phone starts getting spammed by a private number. I answer and it's a "colleague" of these guys outraged at me, asking me why I didn't think they did a good enough job, why I haven't paid, etc. I repeated that I'm happy to pay, just send me the bank details, and yet again he appeared to act like that was reasonable. But still no bank details were sent. He seemed more intimidating than the others I had previously spoken to.
Now we're sat here worried about what's going to happen next. Clearly they aren't going to send us any bank details - either they don't have any or they don't want to identify themselves. I ended up notifying the police because it was starting to feel like extortion and my gf in particular was getting extremely anxious.
Anyone ever experienced something like this? I have a feeling we're dealing with travellers perhaps, but don't want to make any assumptions. They clearly seem to be operating on a system of intimidation, perhaps extortion, hoping that people cave to them and pay in cash. But yeah, it's kind of a nightmare first few days in new property considering this is on top of a bunch of normal house stuff failing (least of all is the leaky conservatory!).

This is the Wavia bag from Oleada, and it converts into a backpack but I prefer to wear it top handle with the straps removed for events. I am so so sad they discontinued this color in the original size, but they have a bigger version now. Wear it daily, in the rain, the snow, every NYC season imaginable, and I love it more now than I did when I first got it.
