I received a check from my employer on Tuesday. Deposited it. Next morning it looked like it cleared. Except I couldnt use my card. So I went into a branch. There I was informed that the account had been deemed fradulent and they were closing it. No way to pull out money.
The branch manager referred me to the fraud team. The fraud team referred me back to the branch manager. For two days I've been going rounds with them. Mind you, absolutely NO ONE has been able to tell me WHY this is happening. No, all they can tell me that once they make the 'final decision' on if they are closing my account of not (in 2-3 weeks), they will mail any remaining balance to my home address (after another 4-5 weeks).
In the meantime, that's literally all my money. It was my rent money, and my car payment money. It was the money to go out and see my in-laws for Christmas. It was my cat food and human food money. Ugh. And no one will even tell me what is going on. This is a level of incompetence that far surpasses anything I've ever encountered.

How dumb do you have to be to rent a house from your subordinate at work then talk crap behind his back?
I had been working at a small town AutoZone for four years and never talked about my finances. I worked at the store for socialization and that pathetic little discount. Store manager needed a new place to rent and I obliged ( I own two small houses in this town).
A year into the lease agreement, customers started coming into the store, harassing me about my financial situation and I did some digging asking fellow employees the tall tales that this SM was telling about me. I get to hear stuff like my bosses at my other job actually own the place he was renting from me.
I resign and two months later I talked to him on the phone telling him I thought he had the worst moral character I had ever seen in a person, and I’m getting ready to write his notice to vacate paperwork.
Him and his wife fled town within 10 days and he transfered to another store in a more expensive town.
I don’t mean for stealth wealth to be a power-play, but sometimes the results are hilarious. Seems like autozone tries to protect its 12 year idiot managers.

Wenn man zu Beginn der Assistenzzeit die 5-jährige Weiterbildung zum Facharzt für Innere Medizin anstrebt, aber nach 2 Jahren feststellt, dass man sich doch eher für die 6-jährige Weiterbildung Innere Medizin + Kardiologie interessiert – ist ein Wechsel möglich?
Und wie sieht es andersherum aus? Wenn man nach 2 Jahren Weiterbildung in Innere Medizin + Kardiologie merkt, dass man doch lieber Facharzt für Innere Medizin werden möchte, kann man dann wechseln?
Mir ist klar, dass ein Wechsel nach z.B. 4 Jahren wenig Sinn macht. Es geht mir eher darum, ob nach ca. 2 Jahren ein Wechsel noch möglich ist, falls man plötzlich eine „Erleuchtung“ hat.

What a great book! Naturally, I finished the book and had to stare in the middle distance as I tried to figure out what I had just finished.
It's interesting, when I finished Acceptance, I didn't think that Area X was malicious. It felt like an accident, a process that was happening without an end goal, and without all of the pieces. However, Absolution makes Area X seem much more sinister. I felt like the themes of anticolonialism were a lot more present.
The transition from Old Jim to Lowry was quite jarring, in my opinion. I didn't really like Lowry but I really liked Old Jim. I still have a thousand questions that I know will never get answered, but it was so good! So worth it! I wish I could read the whole series again without any of my memories of it.
