I think you've got it about right. I would think in terms of the duties of the US President. Tradition requires him to do the annual Easter Egg Roll, to pardon a turkey at Thanksgiving, to give speeches all the time, etc. In contrast, Thanksgiving (the U.S. holiday) does not fall on this or that day of the week. It is on the third Thursday of November and falls on a different calendar day every year. So, for commemorative days with a set date, we say: X day is on [date: May 10th] and this year that falls on a Saturday. It's generally seen in stores only around Thanksgiving and is principally decorative, as all that husbandry has produced a much sweeter and more tender vegetable. However, even the particolored corn differs from the original, which was smaller, because of pre-Columbian agriculture. The rest of many sentences may make clear as to whether you are referring to a past or future activity, but not always. Consider this Thanksgiving (in US, late November) dinner conversation. Can someone please help me to understand how a "backup" team is not a "RIT/RIC"? According to A.3.3.7 of NFPA 470, the backup team has to be in the same PPE, be in close proximity and "possess any equipment necessary to support safe and effective removal operations for a member in PPE/CPC [rescue dragging device, explosion-proof (XP) hand lights, spare SCBA cylinder with buddy hose, suit cutter, etc.]."
If the backup team has all the equipment to rescue the entry team, is dressed, and has all the equipment, why are they not the RIT team? If they are not the RIT, why possess all the rescue equipment?
It would take an enormous amount of resources to make a single entry on even a simple incident. However, I wouldn't think a backup team would need to be "ready to go" as quickly as a RIT team. Most of the time, if a backup team has to go to work, an exchange of information is necessary before they go in, e.g., what the initial team did and what work still needs to be done etc. And I can't imagine ever having the team just stand around breathing air but not in the "hot zone." It would unnecessarily expose additional members and waste air. Just doesn't make sense to me.
Here is the excerpt from NFPA 470 (2022 ed)
A.3.3.7 Backup Team.
The size of a backup team can be increased based on the number of members in the entry team or if the risk assessment indicates the need for additional technicians. The backup team should wear the same class PPE/CPC as the entry team unless approved by the Incident Commander based on a risk assessment for the specific hazard and documented in the incident action plan. Structural firefighter protective clothing, NFPA 1994 Class 5 gear, NFPA 2112, or other ensembles not designed for chemical protection should only be used for flammable environments where the chemical is not toxic via skin exposure (see NFPA 1891 for specific guidance on selection of protective ensembles for Hazmat/CBRN environments). The protective ensembles meet the requirements of NFPA 1994, incorporated in the 2022 edition of NFPA 1990.
Based on the hazard-specific risk assessment the backup team might need to be on air and in close proximity to the entry team, but not within the hazardous area of the hot zone, whenever the backup team is physically a long distance from where the entry team is working, or the entry team will be operating in a large building, or the entry team will be operating above grade or below grade. The backup team should commence entry toward the stricken entry team member within one minute of an entry team member declaring a mayday. When the backup team needs to be deployed further toward the hot zone, a second backup team should be ready to go 90 percent dressed.
The backup team could be used to assist the entry team if help is needed assisting with equipment requests or more hands on task like working on top of a rail car. If a backup team goes in to assist the entry team another backup team is put in place. If the entry team mission cannot be completed by the initial entry team the backup team can become the next entry team after a briefing where mission tasks are identified, and another backup team is in place. The backup team should possess any equipment necessary to support safe and effective removal operations for a member in PPE/CPC [rescue dragging device, explosion-proof (XP) hand lights, spare SCBA cylinder with buddy hose, suit cutter, etc.]. The backup team is not a rapid intervention team (RIT) or rapid intervention crew (RIC).
Refer to NFPA 1006, 1407, 1410, 1500, 1521, 1710, and 1720 for additional information on the definitions of RIT and RIC.

2024.11.29 02:40 Miss_Understood_wolf WIBTA if I cut off power to my ex-friend's place?

For some background info: I 31F, have been friends with Ron 42M (name changed for privacy) for a better part of six years. Our friendship has always been really good, and we've never had a real argument about anything.
I've been helping Ron for about 3 years with anything I could such as cooking, cleaning, watching his dog, signing for packages while he was at work, and putting the utilities in my name. With that being said his car broke down so about 3 months ago I lent him my car, on the condition that it was only used for work and groceries. I finally got it back on Nov 20th and it was in awful shape, it needs mechanical work done, and it needed a deep clean. The car was filthy and smelled awful (think sweaty gym clothes left to rot in a hot locker over summer), so I spent the day deep cleaning it and noticed my dashboard was all scratched up! When I'd asked him if he had his dog in my car he said "no dogs were ever in your car", and so I dropped it. Found out the next day that a mutual friend ran into him and said he had his dog in my car!
I waited until the next day to reapproach the subject, and asked him why he felt the need to lie to me. Instead of just admitting that he made a dumb mistake and had his dog in my car, he doubled down and claimed that it was his buddy's dog in my car and that it was responsible for the damage. When I reminded him about the conditions for using my car, he freaked out on me severely. He told me how he's done with me, how he doesn't need me or my car, and how he's got other friends willing to do stuff for him and watch his daughter. Fast forward to Monday (Nov 24) he proceeds to let his daughter into my house and take off without waking me up (this sadly is a normal occurrence because I told him no once), and tried to act like everything was fine between us. I proceeded to chew him out via text about how I'm not a doormat and he better not expect anything from me until I get a genuine apology for his behavior.
Remember how I'd stated above that I put the utilities in my name for his place? It's because the landlord refused to keep paying it, and his name is ruined with out utilities company. I didn't want him to suffer, so like a good friend I put it in my name (Ron has a bad habit of letting bills get really high and only paying them when he gets cut off letters). Even though I'm really upset by everything, I was gonna leave the utilities alone because I had no interest in being petty and really just want a genuine apology.
Here's where I might be TA: Ron was talking to my neighbor (a mutual friend) and told her he intends to run my bill into the ground, and knowing that it's already really high ($2,241.98) I'm scared. In Ontario there is a law that states power cannot be completely cut off between Nov 15 - April 15 and that if you don't pay the bill it will keep accumulating! If I take my name off his utilities it automatically gets billed back to the landlord. So in short if I cut off his utilities his landlord will most likely evict him or I could face a bill upwards of $7,000... so Reddit WIBTA if I cut off the power?
