2024.11.29 03:51 092973738361682 Is this common? I prefer to read fanfics where I have not read the original source material.
Sorry if this is answered before but I want to think I am not the only one.
It’s hard for me to get into fanfics where the story is not near identical in “feeling” to the original. For example I constantly compare the canon and fanfic characters and realize they are not really the same characters. And that makes it near impossible to get into the story. Since a great deal of my motivation is getting “extra content” from the original creator. It’s really difficult to remove that expectation I set if I read the original work.
And it’s not like the fanfic authors are bad, if you grade without considering the original. Some of there stories are genuinely great works but I just can’t get into it. I just feel it’s just really hard to fully mimic someone else’s writing style.
Which is why I read fanfics near exclusively from communities where I haven’t read the original yet. But I also really want to read original like ASoIF or Lotr that has been collecting dust. But if I do that, I can’t read the fanfics now. Please tell me I am not the only one.

Okay okay, there are other problems--bugs, lack of optimization--but they're mostly things that Bethesda has tackled by having us play and submit reports, and then fixing those issues. They're actually exceptionally responsive compared to other studios!
But a common issue I've seen in every bethesda title is that no one ever wants to finish the main story. How many times have you seen a post along the lines of "I'm level 529 and I just killed the first dragon in skyrim"? It's just.... how people engage with these games. It's a sandbox, and why finish the story when you're making your own stories???
But they actually did it. There's a compelling, exciting reason to go through the main story now.
Idk, occurred to me last night and I think it's kind of spectacular in it's own right

me and my boyfriend (both 17) just had a perfect healthy baby boy like an hour ago and i’m so exhausted but so happy im finally not pregnant anymore lmao
i got kicked out of my house when my parents found out i was pregnant so im currently living with his parents, but we’re both trying to get enough money together to move out and start our lives as parents
i’m aware this will change the course of how the rest of our lives will go, with finishing high school and going to college, but i honestly couldn’t be happier
