2024.11.30 03:37 georgealdogum Unpopular Opinion Week #1: Brisbane 1987 is Michael Jackson's best show. However, other shows like NYC 1988, Tokyo 1992 or Bremen 1997 have the chance to be better if released.
Inspired by u/M7keSonic's post. I wanted to start a series where I’ll share my unpopular opinion on a topic at the end of the week for us to discuss. Since this is my personal hot take, I would love to hear your own opinions on each topic through the comments or your own posts.
For the first one: I wanted to start with Michael Jackson's best show, where I firmly believe the Bad Tour: Live in Brisbane on November 28th 1987 is his greatest. At least from the ones we currently have full footage/audio of.
This concert was the final show of MJ’s first leg of the Bad Tour and it was made even more special with Stevie Wonder joining him on stage for 'Bad'. Unfortunately, we don’t have the full visual footage; we only have the visual for the first part and the audio for the rest but based on these, I feel confident in saying this is the best we’ve got.
Here’s why I think Brisbane 1987 stands out:
- Vocals: his vocals here are so crisp, clear and beautiful, as with all other 1987 shows. Being the last show of the 1987 leg, you would imagine his vocals to be strained even a little bit, yet he still sounds as good and even better than a lot of other 1987 shows, especially with 'Human Nature' and 'WBSS'.
- Dancing: his dancing here is more refined and sharp than early 1987 shows yet it still has the speed and energy of the rest of the tour. He incorporates many of his iconic movements, such as the leg shuffle, toe stand and robotics more than any show before.
- Energy: his energy is absolutely electric, like the rest of the 1987 shows. You can feel MJ’s joy and passion radiating through the performances. He also has a unique relaxed but focused attitude in this show compared to the more aggressive early 1987 shows.
- Look: MJ looks really good in this show. He's much closer to his 1988 look than his 1987 one, which I prefer. His makeup and hairstyle are fantastic as well as his outfits, which are the standard 1987 outfits so this concert gets the advantage of outfits such as the badass 'Beat It' jacket from the Bad Tour and the light-up 'Thriller' jacket. However, this show is also unique due to him wearing closer outfits for 'Bad' and 'Billie Jean' to the 1988/1989 legs than the 1987 leg.
- Instrumentation: probably the highlight of the show (along with Stevie Wonder), the band sounds incredible with all the instruments sounding clear and being mixed very well. This show has some of my favourite sounding songs out of all of his shows across all of his tours and I keep coming back to the Brisbane 1987 versions of songs even more than the studio/album versions. Do yourself a favour and listen to 'Shake Your Body' and any 'Off the Wall' song from this show because they're actually majestic.
Also, I'd like to emphasis the phrase from the ones we have because I know other shows could obviously dethrone it if they would be released; for example, the aforementioned NYC/Kansas 1988, any 1992 Tokyo show or any 1997 June show that is not fully released (Bremen, Amsterdam, Bettembourg...etc), could beat Brisbane due to the great vocals, energy and dancing yet I am lacking visual and audio footage for them to truly claim one the best. Still, Brisbane 1987 is unmatched among the shows we do have.

I have been practicing this measure for days now—inconsistent hours per day— and I am still not comfortable playing it consistently on 60bpm, which I am currently stuck. This is the pre-chorus of Shut Up and Dance with Me by WALK THE MOON. What I tried so far: - 1 bar at a time, from 40-60bpms - once I am comfortable with the first bar, I try to connect to second bar (this is where the struggle starts) - counting out loud including the rests My coach says I just need to practice it repetitively and one by one. I'm in my mid 20s and I'm almost done with graduate school. My parents are driving me completely insane. I can't "go no contact" at this time, so please don't recommend that. I live very far away from my parents but the holidays force contact.
So, in the course of a weekend, here is what my parents have done thus far:
- I invited my boyfriend over for the holidays. We started pseudo living together pretty early in our relationship but stopped due to literal distance. He's exceptionally kind, good looking, makes 6 figures. He is non-white. They've generally treated him like shit compared to my white ex that was not a serious boyfriend at all, who generally wasted my time.
-My parents made my boyfriend take an Uber from the airport ($60) and said he could "change his flight" (They complained about how hard flight changes are many times) and that "he has a job." They did host a social event so I understand why they didn't want to drive him, but they also wouldn't let me drive the car for some arbitrary fucking reason.
- Dad kept joking about disinherting me. Dad joked about how bad my salary is (he knows it's the same as my boyfriend's). Both parents kept talking about how rich they are
-Mother wouldn't stfu about her uncle's death. She hasn't seen him in 30+ years, and clearly just wanted attention and whined about how "insensitive" I am when I wouldn't give it to her
-I went on walk with my boyfriend at night in a SUBURB. They freaked out, and drove to come pick me up (because they have my location). I was a 20 minute walk from house
-Parents told me my boyfriend has a "weird personality."
-Mom talked about how my Grandfather doesn't have dementia and pretends to because he's bored. Honestly, I don't know why she does this, because he has severe parkinsons anyway so it really doesn't fucking matter if he has dementia or not
At dinner party,
-Mom slapped my butt in front of 15 people
-Mom begged me to play piano. I barely know how to read sheet music and I told her to "drop it"
-I said briefly my boyfriend's parents were separated. My mom said, in front of everyone, "Is that because his mom felt afraid of his dad?" And I said "No, I've literally never fucking said that" and left

Hey everyone, was wondering if anyone could review my tracker and give any pointers based off of it. I know it doesn't represent me as a whole of course but anything helps.
Last act, I focused on trying to hit more headshots and although I did, it felt somewhat inconsistent and would lead to me dying without any damage dealt in a few duels.
This act, I swapped to using phantom more and am not particularly focused on headshots, more just playing smarter with my weapons and util. I also decided to play more of my mains - raze and sova, so I could get better with them.

My Father was recently diagnosed with prostate cancer. Although he had a negative biopsy in 2022, his PSA went from 6.2 in May of 2023 to 9.4 in May of 2024 (then 10.3 a week later). In November, he went in for a biopsy that showed Gleason 4+5 cancer in 3 cores. Last week he got a PET scan that showed the cancer had metastasized to a number of lymph nodes and bone in the surrounding area. He currently is not being treated, but does have low testosterone. We are meeting with his doctor on Monday to further discuss the diagnosis and treatment options.
I have already done the following: * Attempted to get him to eat a Mediterranean diet (I know he needs a tailored diet - I am going to ask about an oncology dietitian) * Signed him up for a number of personal training sessions per month (I don’t know if he can see a regular personal trainer or if he needs a specialized therapist) * Trying to set him up for a second opinion at Sloan Kettering
If you guys have any advice on questions to ask or medications/therapies to inquire about, that would be greatly appreciated.
