I registered with getyourguide a month ago and couldn't complete verification, I presume because I forgot to add LLC to my business name. After a month of emailing, GYG has agreed to let me re-verify but told me “it’s my last chance.” When I go to my page I see “Verify Now” as a button, but no place to edit my business name. Does anyone know what happens when I click the “verify now” button? Does it submit me for verification? Or does it allow me to edit my business details?

2024.11.30 04:44 fanime34 I think I almost got close to crying on Thanksgiving.
For reference, the last time I cried was in 2011. It was either January or February. I was 13. I don't remember the month, but I know my birthday didn't come yet because I was going to turn 14 on March 6th. A Language Arts teacher I respected ridiculed me unprovoked. I felt betrayed, disrespected, and humiliated. So I cried. But more importantly, I felt weak. I felt so weak that I thought that I must never feel that way again. The next time I felt close to crying was the school year after when I was in an AP Human Geography because people in my second semester class would always tell me to shut up because they thought I was annoying. Even the teacher was annoyed by me asking questions. Only 4 people (3 girls and 1 boy) were nice to me. I felt devastated each day, but never cried. I did, however, just end up not speaking for the rest of the semester and failed the class.
To the main point of this post. It started during the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. When the Sesame Street float was on the screen, they played the song, "Sing" which is the one that goes like this:

When I heard the "Sing of happy, not sad" part, that was when it hit me. I don't even know what it was. Maybe it is because I've been stressed out on things like getting into graduate school for the past 2 years since graduating in 2022 with a bachelor's and the overall feeling of feeling incomplete (especially considering it took too long to even get the bachelor's from 2015 to 2022 because incompetent school workers tried helping me and messed me up). Maybe it was other aspects in my life like having to deal with multiple deaths this year or the fact that I have dealt with many friends and people near my age dying since I was a freshman in high school. I don't know, but I felt this sudden feeling of intense sadness over a song that's supposed to be happy in nature. I know some people might say that it was just a nostalgia hit or something, but no; I had an overwhelming feeling of dread and sadness over a song that's supposed to be a happy song. I wasn't necessary longing for something because I didn't have the happiest childhood due to a sometimes abusive father, occasional issues with brothers and mother, and bullying in school. Or maybe I was sad because it caused me to think of said childhood because the Muppets and people on the float looked so happy. The "Don't worry that it's not good enough" part also hit me hard, probably because I've been feeling inadequate and incomplete for a while.
Maybe this was pointless, but I just wanted to get this out. I haven't cried in over 13 years and it's not something I necessarily pride in. I wish I could stop associating the act of me crying with me feeling weak. I cried a lot when I was a kid because certain things moved me, but crying made me feel weak and vulnerable every time I did.

2024.11.30 04:44 seriouslyexhausted Forgot to book Peoria Charter or Amtrak? Here are a few other ways to get back to UIUC this weekend...
I love public transit and figuring out convoluted ways to get places without a car, so here's a few other ways to get back to Champaign if you don't have the option of getting a ride from someone, renting a car or getting a crazy expensive uber or cab from ORD.
However, if you are trying to get Peoria Charter from ORD, you should always check to see if there's an open seat on a bus because there is always the chance that someone's flight is delayed. You can pay cash at the door if this is the case and there is always a chance you could get an open seat.
Note: pretty much all of these originate in Chicago unless otherwise noted
Greyhound:
- If you're coming back Sunday, all tickets on greyhound are sold out. But there are tickets from Chicago to Champaign leaving on Saturday at 6AM and 9:15AM. 6AM trip is $91 and 9AM trip is $52. There are also tickets available on Monday at the same times at the same prices as well as a trip that leaves at 7PM for $59.
Tornado Bus:
- This is a Mexican bus company (I believe) and they operate buses three times a day from their station on the southwest side of Chicago to the roadrunner gas station in Champaign. The roadrunner gas station is a bit far out from downtown champaign but an uber shouldn't be too expensive, and if you really wanted to save money you could uber to marketplace mall which is a five minute drive away and catch a bus from there. There are buses available Sat-Mon at 1:00PM, 1:30PM, and 2:30PM, with tickets for each route running $145. Not the cheapest, but would still be significantly less expensive than ubering the whole way (if you can even get a driver willing to drive two hours down to Champaign).
Flying to Champaign:
- Would run you a lot more than an uber, and I really wouldn't do this unless you have the airline miles to get it on a discount. Flights available over the next few days and prices (according to Google Flights, all on American from ORD):
- Saturday 11/30: 8:25PM $435 non-stop
- Sunday 12/1: 9:48AM $838 non-stop; 8:25PM $838 non-stop
- Monday 12/2: both 9:48AM and 8:23PM flights are $395, non-stop
Here's where we start to get a bit more convoluted
- Decatur is an Essential Air Service airport, which means the government subsidizes the fares there. It is about an hour drive from Decatur to Champaign, so you'd have to probably uber to Champaign from Decatur, but overall this would still probably cost you less than ubering from chicago (including airfare) and you'd be far more likely to find a driver who would do it I would say. I did a test uber search from the airport to Illinois terminal and it was about $55 for an uberX. Or you might be able to have a friend in Champaign come pick you up because they wouldn't have to drive so far as Chicago. Here are the flights over the next few days (all on United from ORD):
- Saturday 11/30: 9:50AM & 1:30PM; $193 non-stop
- Sunday 12/1: 9:50AM $193 non-stop; 1:30PM $243 non-stop
- Monday 12/2: 9:50AM & 1:30PM; $193 non-stop
- If you can get to Bloomington-Normal from Chicago, you can take the Burlington Trailways or Greyhound bus (both bookable through greyhound) from B-N to C-U. Here are the times for those buses:
- Saturday 11/30: 2:35PM ($33) and 2:40PM ($36)
- Sunday 12/1: 2:35PM ($54, and only one seat left as of typing this post) and 2:40PM ($36)
- Monday 12/2: 2:35PM ($29) and 2:40PM ($36)
Train/Bus to Springfield:
- Going through the state capital is another option. There is one bus a day from Springfield to Champaign that leaves at 1:55PM, so you'd need to get to Springfield by that time to catch it. Here are the prices for this weekend:
- Saturday 11/30: $64
- Sunday 12/1: $71, only one seat left as of typing this post
- Monday 12/2: $32
- Greyhound from Chicago: You can take this option on Saturday & Monday. The bus leaves at 6AM and will get you into Springfield by 9:55AM. It costs $153 on Saturday and $140 on Monday.
- Train from Chicago: Only available on Saturday & Monday. You can take the 7:15AM train that will get you into Springfield by 10:10AM ($69 both days) or the 9:50AM train which will get you there by 12:53PM ($69 both days).
- Flying from Chicago: Not an option because the earliest flight from ORD doesn't land until after 1:55PM. Is crazy expensive anyways unless you have American miles to use.
Flying/Train/Bus to Peoria:
- There is one bus a day from Peoria to Champaign on greyhound, leaving at 1:45PM. It is $57 each day this weekend.
Here are the options to get to Peoria from Chicago in time to catch this bus:
- Bus: Unfortunately, no great options here. The Peoria Charter bus from Chicago to City Link doesn't arrive until 5:25PM, so that won't work. The option on Greyhound is an extremely convoluted route with a transfer in Iowa. It leaves at 6:30am and you transfer in Burlington, IA to another bus which gets into Peoria at 1:40, although I think it is the same bus that continues on to Champaign afterwards. So you'd probably be fine with the transfer lol if you really wanted to do this option. The bus from Chicago to Peoria costs $131 each day.
- Train: No trains available.
- Flying: Lots of flights into Peoria, but only one that will allow you to make the bus in time. Leaves at 9:13AM and arrives at 10:18AM, $275 each day on United.
- If you are flying to another city from Chicago and can change your flight to fly into Indianapolis instead, this might be an option for you. There is one greyhound bus a day that leaves at 7:10AM from the Indianapolis bus station and runs $64 for each of the days this weekend. Unfortunately, unless you can get an early flight into Indianapolis or don't mind staying overnight and taking the bus the next day, the timing of this bus isn't ideal.
Flying to St. Louis and then taking a bus to Champaign:
- St. Louis has two buses a day to Champaign and more flights than Indy does, so this is a slightly better option if you can change your flight to fly into STL instead of Chicago. Trains from Chicago to STL are largely sold out, so taking a train from Chicago and then taking a bus to C-U wouldn't really be an option (but that would also be insane if you did that). Here are the bus options:
- Saturday 11/30: 12:10PM ($94); 11:15PM ($48)
- Sunday 12/1: 12:10PM ($94, only two seats left as of typing this post); 11:15PM ($94)
- Monday 12/2: 12:10PM ($42); 11:15PM ($42)
This one is a little more out there lol. But is an option if you can fly into Memphis and come from the south to the north, as trains in this direction tend not to sell out.
Train: Leaves at 10:40PM and arrives in Champaign at 6:05AM the next day. $89 on Saturday, $158 on Sunday, $108 on Monday.

These are all the options I can think of for now, but I'll probably keep researching and will add some edits if I find any other routes. Feel free to comment other options as well.
