2024.12.01 02:30 One_Attention_7197 Indirect Connection?
Hello all!! (Plex amateur here so please bear with me as im not super familiar with a lot of the tech terms I’ve read on this subreddit.)
I torrent a fair amount of media and want to be able to share it with my family on our Vizio TV at home when I’m there to save everyone subscription costs. I downloaded Plex, set up the server, and for a bit everything worked beautifully.
I returned home recently and tried to do the same thing, but the quality on played files on the TV is bad even though the torrented file on my laptop isn’t. Eventually I identified that it seems the connection between Plex on the TV and my laptop is “indirect,” even though they are on the same WiFi connection.
In between these visits I did try and see if my parents could play a show on the TV at home from the plex media server even though I was away in my apartment half a state away. I remember them saying the quality was low which made sense since the connection was indirect then. I don’t remember if I changed any settings or anything to get that to work. But in any case I don’t understand why Plex thinks the connection is indirect.
I did do some Reddit scrolling and tried a few things like resetting the router and unchecking “relay” (resulted in no connection at all.) Any other ideas?

I have an iPhone 13 and I’m not sure if I should upgrade from IOS 17.7 to 17.7.2. IOS 18.1.1 is available for me right now, but I decided not to directly update to 18 since I’ve heard many people having problems with it. What I’m concerned about is the battery drainage. Would updating to IOS 17.7.2 drain my battery? Is it worth it?

 | It’s pretty cold atm where I live and it just started snowing too, so I bought some cat food for a few local strays and a tote to convert into a shelter for them. What sort of material should I use for the bedding? What should I do to make the shelter easily accessible while still offering protection from the cold, wind, and snow? I was considering adding some blankets to help insulate it, but I’m not sure if that’ll just make it more likely to hold moisture and the cats more likely to get hypothermia or not. 2024.12.01 02:30 Dj0sh Group of friends want to try DnD, I have a question regarding campaigns
None of the friends in my group have played Baldurs Gate 3, so I am considering breaking down its story (at least Act 1 for now) into basic blocks and adding some details etc for a campaign and using my memory of it to fill in the story and the areas. I suppose I could even print some of the maps from the game...
I figure if I at least get the basics down, I can build on it and add detail where necessary (like deeper NPC personality stuff that will be harder to recall and explain). If we start playing and things go off script from what I have in front of me at the time, I can refer to the memory of BG3 in my mind to keep things moving. To me this seems like a good strategy
Does this sound like a stupid idea? Can GMs make a good and fun campaign with a fairly simple setup or basing bits on memory of a game like this?
I am considering starting them all in pods on the Nautiloid ship and making them each roll a high number to break free, and the first person to do so plays solo for a bit, can choose to free the others when they find them, or not, and I'll make something happen that causes the others to get freed if they're stilled trapped later. I feel it might even be good this way as a new GM to only have one player active at the very start, build some anticipation for the others to get freed as well
Another question, just for the sake of it, if anyone knows any good beginner campaigns that might be worth checking out, like maybe you know a gateway campaign that got yourself and other friends into DnD or something, that would be much appreciated.
