Description: Josh and Arnold go out dancing and bump into a very out-of-it Patrick. They walk him home but he messes everything up. Arnold has an anxiety attack. Tom orders a prostitute but hides inside when she arrives. Dad proposes to Mae.
Notes:
- Tom thinking he’d be a “massive treat” for prostitutes. Very on brand.
- Arnold is very high energy to start. Maybe I don’t know what I’m talking about, but perhaps there’s a hint of mood disorder on top of the anxiety… or the mood disorder causing said anxiety
- Do gays go dancing on first dates? I feel like any time I’ve gone dancing it’s to find a hookup.
- Understated bit of reality in having that kid with the bow tie, Patrick and eventually Ella get separated from their friends at a club. Happens ALL the time.
- Love the boys having a munch on the park bench while Patrick dies on the sidewalk.
- Patrick claiming Josh kicked him out again, we’ll never know the real truth!
- Candice sounds like the nicest 42yo prostitute. Like your friends mom’s sister.
- So it seems like if he doesn’t have a monster that Patrick has a lot of self confidence issues due to his relationship with his (adopted) dad, and being gay. Note, he doesn’t mention the adopted part here.
- Patrick’s got a solid butt
- Yes, mental- but I do not understand Arnold’s freak out here (again, I know there’s no logic to mental illness). Josh was showing complete resistance to Patrick in the water. They had just left a gay club where anyone and everyone is up on everyone else groping and shit. Personal space is not a thing. If it was about not being ready for a relationship, then was he freaked that Josh was turning down Patrick? I know, there IS no logic in panic.
- Did anyone else want to see how Tom would have handled conversation with the prostitute?
- Alright, they didn’t film that in a real balloon did they? It looks real except that I would have imagined more wind? There were some shots that looked CGI, but then the way Josh kept passing in front of the sun, and the way hair was - THAT looked real. This was also years before the Volume tech.
- Hannah’s car IS very Hannah.
- Autism awareness: Hannah obviously not picking up on cues.
- Every time Tom has his shirt off I keep thinking, yeah I would. If I wrote fanfic, it would be the most dysfunctional erotic stupidity possible
- Would 10yo you be happy with where you are now?
- Josh cuddling up with Arnold in the end napping is all anyone needs really. More naps.
- The end montage with the tinkly music is seeet and beautiful, then it’s Tom honing on his belly- perfect.

Playing 4-person scrabble, two of the players had to leave early. I assumed I won because I had the highest score and did a happy win dance. The other opponent is now angry with me because there were still tiles left in the bag and says I shouldn’t have assumed a win. I said we could play it out as 2-person, but he wants an apology! I stand by the fact I won the 4-player game due to highest score and am willing to play it out to the bitter end as 2 person and concede victory should he win. If I’m wrong, I will eat crow and apologize. What’re your thoughts?

There is an addictiveness to roadtrips. Many people see driving on the road as monotonous and boring. But to me it is the one time I truly feel invisible. You might have fleeting, insignificant interactions with gas stations clerks or restaurant staff. But when you are the road, you are elusive. Roadtripping is the state of being constant stranger. And to us, that is bliss. If I had more money, I think I would spend my days driving across continents, stopping at interesting attractions, trying new food, exploring the weird corners of the world that no one cares about. But never stopping for lasting connections. Does this sound fantastic to anyone else?

I feel at the end people will just advice me to ask my therapist which I'm working on, but let's be real. Most therapists aren't LGBTQIA+-informed. Unless I'm talking to someone with a lived experience of being in the aro-spec community, they most likely won't get it and just tell me to identify what's most comfortable or shit like that which is useless tbh.
It's just that, I'm AuDHD and I have both emotional dysregulation and lack of emotional permanence, it's too easy to not fall in love and that's why I've always been comfortable identifying as aroace. Not to mention my trauma exacerbate these two traits and identifying as aroacs protects me too. I was comfortable for several years until someone barge into my life and makes me question what I'm feel about them.
I've been in the process of trauma healing for a while, there's still some baggage left but I've fuction well for day to day which means I'm not just clinging to them due to lacking affection yet... I want them to be happy and I want to be with them all my life. They're currently busy and hard to contact since the new years and these are times when I feel like I don't feel as strongly to them anymore. I still want them to be happy, but I think it's cuz it's only appropriate for someone to want their closest people to be happy.
It makes me want to reevaluate what I've felt for them. Was it just euphoria from the connection or was it truly falling in love? Am I currently falling out of love or did I just not have any feelings for them to begin with?
TLDR: I'm not asking if it's okay to identify as demi, I know the answer, but more like, am I in love or not?

I've been opting for the burnt haystack approach lately - making a profile that's authentic even if it's polarizing, and being very selective with who I swipe right on... if I'm in two minds about it then I swipe left... so I'm only swiping on about 1 in 100 profiles.
Being brutally honest with myself about whether or not I'm compatible with someone e.g. yeah she's sexy and she seems smart and interesting but she says she wants kids ASAP while I don't, so it's not going to work out.
Be cutthroat - if they're not matching your effort you cut and run
Making sure not to be cruel or selfish all the while.
For years I swiped on women I was vaguely interested in almost just to see whether we would match then chat to them almost just to see whether they were willing to go on a date before realizing I wasn't even particularly interested in them. I think a lot of people run with this approach and it's obviously a big waste of time and energy.
Of course being so picky might mean you miss out on meeting someone great who just had a crappy profile or who you incorrectly assumed you wouldn't gel with but at least this approach is saving me time.
Now when I get a match (rarely) I know they're someone I'm a bit excited about matching with not just some half hearted swipe I don't even remember doing.
Well, besides all the times Bumble matches me with profiles I've never seen before and would never swipe right on (what's up with that?)
