Politicians and lobbyists talk as if high speed rail between Sydney and Newcastle is an unquestionably good idea.
Putting aside the issue that it could cost 32billion to shave the trip down by half an hour or so, does anyone around here actually want this?

2025.01.18 23:00 Traditional_Thing_48 Homeless. IVA. PCN's. Wits End. Help.
Not sure if this is the right place to post. It's about an amalgamation of things and my head is a bit of a mess. Fairly complex situation.
My Dad was widowed in 2020 and he remarried in 2023 and has sold his property to buy one in Northern Ireland where him and new wife will retire.
My Dad bought a new car for use in Ireland. He gifted his 2.0L 2009 Nissan Qashqai to me and paid for my insurance for the year as an early Christmas present and so he didn't have to go through the hassle of selling it etc.
I'm 3 years into my IVA which is teetering on a breach. I am homeless as a result of fleeing domestic violence from my ex girlfriend in October 2024. I moved in with her as a lodger in June 2024 but was never on a tenancy agreement so had no rights.
Given the situation, I was sofa-surfing and staying with friends for most of November & December, but I have outstayed my welcome with all. One of my friends has cerebral palsy & epilepsy. He and his Mum allowed me to stay with them for a week at a time in December, because of the weather - if I would help them run some errands. His kids go to a school in East London and I was told to do the school run with him using my car in order to be able to stay with them. I might add that his mum does have a car on motability finance. Not sure if that is relevant or not.
My last registered address, where all correspondence will go to (another friend who helped me flee DV) is in another county, Norfolk. I find out from friends that letters are appearing. I authorised them to open them.
I received multiple (20+) PCN's for driving down this road, which happens to be a "Pedestrian Zone" with certain time restrictions. Himself and his mother, are obviously residents of the borough, and they drive down this road frequently but never get any letters. I also got two fines for parking inside a bay ourselves his house. His mum had a flat tyre and to prevent any possible damage to her alloys she did not want to move her car to make room for me on her driveway. The car is on Motability and they she has to have tyre repairs authorised and signed off by the leasing company, so it didn't get repaired right away. A couple of days had passed until she had a mobile tyre fitter out to remedy the tyre and from then on, I parked on the off-street drive way.
My phone contract built up arrears and went to collections. I then turned to Lyca PAYG who billed me erratically and as a result I've had to change numbers 3 times in the last month, making keeping in contact with people trying to support me, like the council, YMCA etc - a real struggle.
My conundrum is this. I don't have a fixed address. I live in my car. I literally wake, eat, breathe, sleep, keep warm, charge my phone and fart in the car. One department of the council already has details about my income & outgoings, I am on their CHAIN homelessness database, but on the other hand, the parking enforcement department have basically fined me £2,000 & counting.
I totally appreciate it is my responsibility to ensure that my registered address is up-to-date so that correspondence is picked up in a timely manner.
But...
What do you literally do if you are statutorily homeless and don't have an address to provide then with to get said correspondence to you?
What has put the fear of God in to me is that soon, I'm going to wake up one morning and find my car immobilised with me inside it. And the fact that there may be 20 instances or reoccurrences of this whilst I quite literally don't have a pot to piss in.
I have prospects! I'm educated, IT Engineer. I have been offered a well paid job, subject to DBS check but I'm in limbo until this clears so I can't ask for an advance to help until I get my contract.
I can't apply for a Universal Credit advance because I "earned over £2,600 6 months ago." Meaning I have £393.45 to keep my car on which gives me power, warmth and protection from the elements. I'm not eligible for grants because I don't have priority debts like council tax arrears or rent arrears etc.
Finding a landlord that will accept anyone with these circumstances is like finding a needle in a haystack.
How do I deal with this pragmatically? I can normally break things down into manageable tasks but my life is so disjointed at the moment it is very difficult to pick out what I need to do from here.
Do I fail my IVA and look into a DRO? Do I need to speak to an Insolvency practitioner? Is there a better way to deal with this? I don't want to bury my head in the sand because that's how I got into my IVA in the first place.
Anyone?

Hi all! I got my tragus piercing exactly a week ago. Hurt when I did it (more than my conch, but not horribly) and then it was perfectly fine for a couple days, no bleeding or swelling. Then for a few days it started hurting a bit, it swelled but not too much and the pain was bearable. When it subsides I think I did the mistake of falling asleep on it with over-ear headphones on and it has been hurting like hell all day today. I resisted taking painkillers this morning but now it's gotten so bad the whole right side of my face hurts and it throbs every time I make movement so I took some ibuprofen to help. The swelling isn't worse than previous days and I still have a lot of room on the bar. Picture to show position of the piercing. Would post the inside but I can't manage to snag a picture right now. Jewelry is titanium. To clean I've been using saline spray a couple times a day, maybe three I guess. Is the pain normal? It's my first time feeling so much pain so I am not sure. I also have to go away from home for a few days from tomorrow so I am extra worried. Thank you in advance

Trying to determine the best route to go here. I have a pretty good opportunity to start something fresh with my company implementing a client API. We will basically have them send us specific data but not every vendor does it the same way. So I’d like to also have an additional structure for custom data that would fit into the concrete api data
So an example would be:
Interface
GetData1 GetData2 GetData3
In order for a successful transfer of data we must have the data formatted a specific way, obviously.
But client may do “GetData1” differently by providing additional data points that we can transform into the way we need “GetData1”. But others may not and want to just give it to us exactly how it’s needed without additional data.
So we can set abstract classes for each client but I was hoping thatAra each time that happens instead we make it a generalized class so that we could potentially use that option as a selling point for future clients that may want to do something similar.
What specific design pattern should I steer myself towards that would fit this?
I want a very specific structure but allow flexibility in how the data points for that structure are set

Hey everyone,
I’m seeing a marine at the moment I met online. I am aware of his busy schedule and he can not talk all the time. We have only been talking for more than a month and I believe we are just seeing where things go. We have face-timed a couple times and text. I’m afraid he has a girlfriend where he is stationed and I am the girl he has back at home. He made all these plans and keeps telling me that he can’t wait to see me when he comes back. When we talk it’s electric and the connection is there. He never compliments my looks but only my personality. He values my opinion but i’m unsure he means all of this. His communication is lacking. He makes promises that he will text and call and than doesn’t. I am aware he can not talk every day and I am okay with him speaking to me once a week. It’s just the false promise. Am i wasting my time? I heard that military men especially marines, they play the game and cause a lot of heart break on women. I am f(22) and he is m(28). He seems to be genuine but when there is radio silence from him, I get scared. Any advice?
