2025.01.19 13:21 BorderKeeper Reliable fix for "Installation package could not be opened." when launching any Paradox game like Stellaris or HoI4
I have dug around a lof of forum posts and installer logs and finally cracked the issue. If your launcher refuses to load due to the error do this: 1. Download the latest installer directly from their site here: https://launcher.paradoxinteractive.com/v2/paradox-launcher-installer-windows 2. Run it and when presented the option to select the path of the launcher choose the same drive as your game is on. For me I had the game on E: drive so I selected a random folder on E: drive as well.
Reason why this works so you can followup with more digging if this doesn't work for you: 1. Run the steps above 2. Check the logs link in the installer if it fails and confirm it failed due to the Paradox launcher MSI failing 3. Go to your temp folder and find this log file that got created as the installer aborted: ParadoxLauncher_v2[time stamp]_[random number]_Paradox_Launcher.msi.log 4. Open it up and observe the error it should be "The path cannot be traversed because it contains an untrusted mount point." 5. This is where I figured out after a bit of googling that the error is OS protection of the process communicating on more than one drive. If you have a different error there google it and see why it might be caused. Most likely it's some setup weirdness you have got going on on your PC.

Currently coming back to this group as it’s been a couple years. I sort of stopped reading and responding here because I was trying my best to parent together after separation and divorce and while the support and advice is appreciated I had trouble being positive and moving forward. I just wanted to give an update though and get some of the recent things off my chest though.
So starting from the last thing I posted I pushed forward and had her served about a year ago, we ended up talking about it and she agreed to work with my lawyers and try to come to an agreement.
She called them once and talked to them and from what it seemed my lawyer was under the impression that we were 90% there. We went through and changed some of the terms and sent it back over. She then called me and started getting angry that nothing was right so I just told her to respond back to the lawyers. She said she didn’t have time and would do it at her own pace.
A couple months have gone by and she’s still refusing to respond to the lawyer, they say at this point we can just push it through. I told them to reach out, call an email a few more times and give another couple weeks while I go over the paperwork myself again. I made a few changes that she had requested and when they said that she still wouldn’t respond to email or phone we sent it to the judge and it got signed this past September.
This whole year we had been doing things together with the kids and haven’t had too many issues, even the holidays ended up going smoothly. We didn’t have any issues where I even had to bring up the divorce decree, she never asked about it and the only thing I brought up was her getting the old house in her name. I also didn’t get anything sent to me by the state with the signed copy, so I reached out to my lawyer and had them resend the paperwork to me and her in December. She still did not mention it.
Fast forward to about a week ago she starts bringing up taxes and last Wednesday she said she’s going to file with being listed as married. I said that she should be filing as single. She said no since we are still married. I brought up everything from the lawyers and that the divorce decree was signed by the judge. She flipped and started screaming that it’s not true because she didn’t sign anything and that it was underhanded and started yelling at me in her driveway. She then started screaming that I wasn’t going to get the kids and that I would have to call the cops. I just said alright and got into my car. As I’m backing up she goes and grabs her mail and stands behind the car. I end up parking and just sitting on my phone waiting. She said to come out and talk, so I figured sure, as soon as I got out of the car she threw a pop can at me and hit me in the head. I got back in and she still didn’t move from behind the car. I then called the cops and told them what was happening. As soon as she realized I was calling she left and went inside. I let them know that and the dispatcher asked if I wanted to talk to an officer. I said yes and started asking about how things would work that night with picking up the kids. He explained to just give a call at that time and asked what happened at the house. I explained that and he said to meet me back there.
When I got back to her house the cop was knocking on the door but she wasn’t answering, he came back up to me and asked me some questions if she had a car and was home. I said yes and when he went back to the door she answered. She started raising her voice at the officer and I just went behind a neighbors van and didn’t pay attention to what was being said. About 5 minutes later he comes back over and says that she said the same thing about blocking me and throwing the can and she is going to be taken in for battery. I asked if that should be the case since I’m not wanting to press charges and he said that it’s going to be the state.
She ended up going to jail until Friday evening, when she got out her friend’s mom picked up the kids with her in the car. She hadn’t messaged or called and her friend’s mom came to the door to grab the kids stuff. I thought it was weird but I checked the case information and found she has a no contact order and another court date in February.
Overall I’m surprised the court is taking it seriously. I’ve been deep in my head about everything that just happened but I am hoping it’s a wake up call for her.

My new PC randomly starts to make the beeping sound you can hear in the video.
As soon as it starts, it occurs every 10-15 seconds and is driving me insane...
I just found out that it seems to be linked to Armoury Crate and probably has something to do with the LED lighting inside...
Next to the Power button on the case is a light button, that cahnges the LEDs color and modes... the beeping is in sync with the button flashing...
Also, when I reboot, it is gone for a while and so it is, when I open Armoury Crate...
What the hell could that be? aber more importantly - how can I avoid that... I am about to throw this thing out of the window... ^^

2025.01.19 13:21 sweenygg I've got Samsung G8 32 Oled for console and switching to PC build
Hi guys,
I need to make a decision. I've been reading here and there for the last 2 days and I need a help from OLED community. I am still on return period for my G8 so I want to share my experience and concerns.
I will try to keep story short, I' ve lost my motivation to gaming and said myself to switch console and give it try.
I purchased Samsung G8 4K 32 and PS5 Pro. Unfortunately, being PC gamer for more than 20 years, it didn't met my expectations. I quickly needed freedom of pc usage instead of console.
Now I will build back PC around 9800x3d and 5080
G8 was good on console, but I've tested my macbook to give it try for desktop usage. It felt way too big. Desktop was too big and all the text was way too small. I felt like I can't deal with it.
Should I return and get G6 27 inch 1440p OLED instead of G8?
On PC I have a heavy usage, like 10-12 hours per day. I work from home so nearly spending all day on it. I don't think samsung offers 3 year burn-in coverage. Due to this heavy usage, should I swap to MSI instead Samsung?
Final question, I also play games like Dota 2, is it going to be a hard to play on 32 instead 27
I've always wanted to hop onto 4k and Oled gaming but I always concerned about performance drop and stayed with 2K IPS. This time I bite the bullet and now too afraid to regret my decision.

I broke up with boyfriend two months ago. I've prayed for us and our relationship but I had to break up with him due to huge argument. Since then I've been praying to him for reconciliation and bringing us back together. I've been praying for his change, addiction removal and fake friends influence. It's been two months and nothing changed. I prayed for my best friend healing and she's good. I prayed for new job for my mom and she got better job. Is God testing me? I feel like I should wait but I'm not sure. I'm afraid to be honest and I'm admitting it during prayers is it because of that? I had dreams about this boy before I've met him while I was praying to God for showing me my future husband. For two months he's still in my heart and I can't move on, the pain is huge. I'm also struggling with depression. Am I not ready? Should I really move on? Just give up on it already? If I give up won't I show God that I'm weak and easy to discourage? Or maybe I'm not seeing his work, is that possible?
