2025.01.19 13:00 BenevolentPixel Manual transmission - do you guys use the emergency brake when parking?
Living in the northeast buying used vehicles emergency brakes almost never work. Or if they do they will never come off after you apply them. I used to go around and fix them which isn’t that hard but can be a pain in the butt, and if you don’t use it enough it just rusts solid again.
So right now I’m driving a 94 f150 straight 6 with mdo5 trans and it’s slightly hilly where I live but I’ve always just parked in 1st or reverse and if it’s really bad terrain I’ll chock the wheels. What do you guys do? I find usually the motor has enough compression to hold back the truck from rolling.

I've gone back to YouTube, it feels hallow. I don't even want to look at FB bc I don't want to give them numbers to validate their corruption. Even searching YouTube for TikTok ban gives me nothing but mass media results, something I'd do on TikTok and immediately be delivered independent unbiased news sources. I thought maybe I could find the silver lining and distance myself from social media in an attempt to focus on self improvement, but something is missing.
It's not that I'm battling withdrawals from some strange addiction, albeit ill admit I've grown accustomed to spending too much time scrolling on TikTok. What I'm realizing is I lost my community, and in a way my family. I'm realizing just how profound of a connection that it was no matter how superficial or chaotic these relations or webs of information on TikTok was. It was a sense of connection with people whether we had different opinions or not, we were all coming from the same place and the same home to meet up on a playground of possibilities that made an ever increasing disenfranchised world feel just a little more hopeful.
It's hard to go into the true depth of loss here without it sounding merely trivial and like I can't watch my precious memes or shitpost or alt news anymore. All that said, I'm really sad about this. I'm sad for our country, and I feel trapped in a giant cage countless people gave their lives in vain to free us and defend us from in the first place. I feel like I lost a family and I'm being held captive in a foreign country, with foreign leaders who do not understand me, better yet, leaders who only want to steal from me and hurt me. I forcefully give them my money with nothing to show for it in return, now this in the name of my safety while they line their pockets trading what they swear to protect under the table? It's devastating from every angle and what it implies gives me very little hope considering the amount of power flaunted in our faces. It's easy to say oh I'll just go read a book, but what good is a story if you can't share it with someone.

2025.01.19 13:00 Sir_Coleslaw Created a Windows app for the VU-Dials
Since I was tired of constantly waiting and hoping for some integrations, and nothing was happening on the part of the big players in the market like Final Wire (AIDA64), I decided to use AI to develop a small app that reads AIDA64 data from the shared memory and passes it on to the DIALs.
I used GitHub CoPilot, VSCode and the model Claude 3.5 Sonnet for this.
The app has now reached a beta phase and certainly still has one or two bugs, but here it is for you to test.

What you need:
VU API server
AIDA64
The data is transferred from AIDA64 to the VU DIALs via AIDA's integrated shared memory function. So activate it, select the desired sensors, then confirm. Then start my application and enter the VU server address the first time you start it. The default value is already set. Then enter your API key from the server application, set the options as desired, and confirm.
The interface should be fairly self-explanatory.
I am not a developer, and I only have a little development knowledge. I am presenting myself here more as a product manager.
The entire application was created with VSCode and the GitHub Copilot. So this application was created by an AI based on my specifications and wishes.
Have fun testing the application.
