We are thinking of taking our 2 kids (8 & 11) to Costa Rica, possibly late June early July (school & work schedules necessitate this time). We would like to see wildlife but also get to a beach. We are considering a resort of some kind for a few days, and maybe an Airbnb or hotel at other destinations if they are too far to make day trips. We would rent a car. Can anyone offer some advice? Is one coast better than the other? Is there an area of concentrated things to do that we should try to be in or near? I have never been.

We just got new wifi thermometers that can alert us if a room goes below a certain temperature. Our very old 1880s-ish stone basement only has an electric water heater in it, so not much ambient heat. We do have an electric baseboard heater installed.
So, what temperature would be ideal during the winter. Located in Pennsylvania so it can get cold here. Currently the temperature is around 49F without the heat turned on. I'm cheap so I think that 45 is fine and we don't need to turn the heat on. My husband is practical and says we should leave it on at 50 and not touch it because busted pipes are expensive.
What temperature should a basement be? And what should we set the baseboard heater to? And what temperature should I set the alert to one the monitoring app?
