I’ve been thinking lately about something my mother said. My younger brother, who's in 5th grade, recently took the Navodaya exam (an entrance exam for admission to Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas )and did really well. My parents are so proud of him, and I am too, but it hurts when they compare me to him. When I took the exam , I struggled a lot. I had a strict tutor and barely managed to keep up with all the studying. I wasn’t a top student, but I passed the exam and did well in math later on. (Even my tutor taught me the basic maths of 10th std when I was only 10yo which was so difficult I mean imagine solving 10th ncert questions in 5th std , yeah saare questions solve nhi hote the but uss aadmi ne muje real numbers , geometry sikha di thi even though ushke questions itne hard nhi aate 5th k student k liye) ishka fayda bhi tha I became topper in maths till 10th like bina practice kiye 10th tak maths me 80 numbers lana wasn't a big thing to me.
However, my mom once told me I wasn’t a quick learner as compare to him , and it still stings. Now, my brother is excelling, and it feels like they see him as the better, quicker learner. It makes me question if I was a disappointment to them, even though I worked hard to get where I am.
I’m happy for my brother, but why do parents compare us, especially when we’ve tried our best? It’s hard to shake that feeling of not being good enough, even though I’ve grown a lot since then.
I just wanted to vent.

Hello, I'm sorry if this post breaks certain rules of this board, I am trying to be as appropriate with my language and terms as possible but I don't know many autistic people within my own social life other than my brother (whom this post is about) I'm not a parent but I take care of my little brother so I wanted to try posting here asking for help.
Within this past year or so my brothers behavior has been worsening. I don't know his exact diagnosis but I do know he has autism and cannot communicate besides small phrases he knows, and he can repeat some phrases. He sort of knows how to communicate, he knows how to ask for food from either my mom, dad, or me. But he can't do much on his own. But I've noticed recently he's became much more aggressive. He's 14 years old and is about 6'3, 160 lbs. He is taller and stronger than everyone else in my family, he's an inch taller than my dad.
But my reason for making this post is because my brother recently has begun to come up to us (unprovoked) and hitting us. It's mainly just slapping but he does it very fast and it seems to come from no where on our part. I do know most likely it's something sensory, and he doesn't know how to communicate it. But it is extremely scary for me especially because I'll hear him come up to me, and he'll start stimming (which is often a sign he is overwhelmed) and I don't know if he's gonna start hitting me. Usually my dad and my mom will try to hold him with a blanket since he likes to be kind of compressed but now he's just too strong and we can't really control him. I feel like I should add he was on some sort of behavioral therapy but something happened to that and we ended up being on an eternal waitlist and they never got back to us. I don't know how much of it works but I want to get him back into behavioral therapy and such. But until then I'd like any advice. I would appreciate it very much. Apologies this is so lengthy. How did it get this bad… I went from being an obese child/teen and binge eating, being bullied in school, always being the fat funny friend. To now being “skinny” and “beautiful” lost 80 pounds. It started with restricting to one meal a day, then sitting on the elliptical for 2/3 hours in a sauna suit, using laxatives, and then straight up teaching myself to vomit. I dreamed of being skinny and desirable while I was obese, that’s all I wanted in life. Now I have that and I am at the worst most miserable mental state in my life. My life revolves around this disorder. I can’t enjoy hobbies, time with family/friends, be productive with work/furthering my career.. it even made me end my year long relationship with a great guy because I mentally couldn’t put any effort into him because I am CONSUMED with being bulimic. Most waking thought I have is consumed by food, how much to eat, when I can eat, when I can binge, when I can purge. I body check like 30+ times a day and weigh myself more times than I can count. Really, how the FUCK did it turn into this. I borderline don’t want to be alive at this point, I would never actually do anything but I cannot fucking take this anymore. I’ve been through two ed therapists and I just started with a dietician specialized in ed, but the thought of recovering and gaining weight literally scares me more than anything. I genuinely think Id rather be dead than be fat again. This is just a rant I really really needed to get out, I hope someone can relate to these struggles and not feel so alone. I recently rewatched a couple of shows for old-time's sake, and I realized that a number of movies that I have on my favorites list were ones I saw because Siskel and Ebert recommended them (ironically, a number of them in reviews for other movies). For example, I found out about The Conversation when they brought it up in their review of Enemy of The State (also their show on the early 70s), I decided to check out The Professionals (1967) because of Gene's home video recommendation of it during the one show where, except for Roger's thumbs up on Predator, everything was voted thumbs down, their extensive review of My Dinner With Andre, and now I'm checking out Topkapi and Rififi because of Gene mentioning how they were an influence for Brian De Palma on the first Mission: Impossible movie.
Has anyone else here found some "new" classic favorites that way? If so, which ones?

My friend of a couple years gets mad at me whenever I am not able to hang out, I always make it a priority to see her when I can but if I’m busy that day then she’ll start being short with me and ignore me for a couple days. I try to compromise with her saying well I can hang out another day if you’re not busy or such but she doesn’t want to hear it. I’m worried that I’m doing something wrong? Maybe hurting her unintentionally, but I can’t help it if I’m not able to hang out with her anytime she suggests, what do you think? Thanks :)

2025.01.20 02:51 Thunder--Bolt The Sevastopol is an absolute monster.
I decided to restart my campaign after getting stuck after the first fleet hq.
Things have been going markedly well in this new campaign. I already found a hidden city that's close by the first fleet hq, and its location will make a good staging ground for further operations.
I had left the Sevastopol and the main fleet out in the desert while my Lightning/Skylark raid fleets blazed a trail ahead. As I was bringing the main fleet up, I got intel ahead of time that an SG was in between the path to the hidden city and the fleet. I tried to move forward on a different path to avoid, but it seems that the SG moved toward where I was going to avoid it by chance and we were intercepted.
We had to deal with six or seven cruise missiles at first. Most of them were shot down, and one slammed into my Yars Mk2, which was only damaged. And then the main SG descended upon us. When the battle planning screen rolled up, I briefly considered restarting the campaign again. But I remembered that one of the times this also happened in a previous attempt, the Sevastopol had completely body slammed the entire SG on its own, solo.
So, I decided to go through with the battle. And once again, the Sevastopol showed off its muscle. It completely annihilated the four heavy cruisers that engaged us, completely on its own. Those 330mm cannons are not to be fucked with. It was immensely satisfying to show the Gathering that it wasn't completely invincible.
So with the battle won, I managed to get the fleet up to the hidden city. My next course of action, I think, is to capture another intel base and spot out the next SG, before making a move on the fleet hq to get a save off. Then it's capturing prize ships to get funds to repair the Sevastopol. The repairs are only gonna be 11,000, which is way down from what I was expecting after the battle. But this early in the campaign, I wanna give myself a nice cushion of money so that I'm running into funding problems.
That's it. Sevastopol is awesome as hell and I can't wait to give it some up-guns to make it even more lethal.

2025.01.20 02:51 crazy_monkey_ninja Under-extrusion issues with a seemingly uncommon fix
Figured I'd share this since I couldn't find anything about it, and it was absolutely plaguing me for the last couple days.
Here's the TL;DR version first:
Seemingly out of nowhere, my Neptune 3 (base model) was having a ton of issues where it would act like it was under-extruding or my nozzle was getting clogged (then start flowing again like nothing was wrong), regardless of what filament I used (old roll, brand new roll, roll fresh out of filament drier). I basically rebuilt my hotend (new heat break [slice engineering], nozzle [microswiss], PTFE tube), e-step calibration, leveled the shit out it (I have silicone bed spacers), set my z-offset properly, and it would still seem like it would intermittently clog/under-extrude. On a whim, figured I'd take a look at my extruder since I hadn't touched that side yet. Played around with the tension on the extruder arm and still no dice, so I decided to remove it and take a closer look. Removed the extruder, took it apart, pulled out the rotor assembly, and come to find out the top bearing was 100% seized. I couldn't rotate it by hand to save my life. To add to it, the inner race of the bearing felt like it was press-fit onto the extruder shaft. After a bit of finagling, I was able to free the bearing from the shaft.
- Had "nozzle clogging"/underextrusion issues
- Hotend rebuild didn't fix a thing
- Found out extruder rotor bearing was seized, bearing is the same size as POM wheel bearings.
- Using a bearing from an old POM wheel fixed my issues
With the loose bearing in hand, had no idea what to do other than scour 3djake for an extruder assembly. Looked at the bearing again, and the size looked incredibly familiar. Lo and behold, the bearing for the extruder assembly is literally the same bearing as the POM wheels (625ZZ). I had a few old wheels in my bin, so I pulled the bearing from one, put it in the extruder housing, was able to slip the shaft into the bearing (fun fact, they're not press fit), and so far, my test prints have been good.
