Forced log out and not loading I was literally just on this app not even an hour ago and I’m now logged out and can’t log back in. I tried changing my password but it won’t even load. It’s stuck on “processing” or “connecting”. Is the server down? Anyone else have this happen?

2025.01.20 13:00 PothosPuppy Columbia VP&S

Hi everyone, earlier this year, I asked about Cornell vs Columbia for med school, and I ultimately went with Columbia. It's a great program overall, but there have been some accessibility issues that I know would be a huge problem if I weren't as able bodied as I am, so I wanted to put this out there for anyone considering this school.
1) The automatic doors break and go unfixed for months at a time. The ADA entrance for the education center (where we do almost all classes) has been out of service for months and there is no other accessible entrance.
2) The elevators are down often. There's usually at least one operable, but today both of the ones in my apartment building were down and I had to walk down 12 flights of stairs, which my hypermobile joints are seriously feeling right now. Fingers crossed the elevators are fixed in a few hours, because I know I can't climb 12 flights.
3) Elevators are inefficient. The elevators are always PACKED. With 140 students going to class at the same time, elevators are always stuffed to the brim, which means a lot of standing waiting for one to come with space to fit. If I was in a wheelchair, I'd always be late to class because there would be no room to fit in the elevator. At least 10 students have decided to just take the stairs all of the time, but climbing 10 or so flights is definitely not possible for a lot of people.
On more of a "culture" note, I don't know anyone else with a chronic illness or disability, so if they're out there, people aren't open about it. I've also had some people assume ability or say some invalidating things about chronic pain in younger patients that I've had to speak up about. It's definitely unconscious bias and they're always apologetic, but it is unfortunate and a bit disheartening.
All of this being said, the disability services office is great with accommodations, so I've been able to get the support I need (I haven't reached out about the above issues, although I honestly think they shouldn't need a disabled student to reach out for basic ADA accessibility standards to be met.)
Feel free to reach out with questions!

2025.01.20 13:00 thunderstorm4 iPhone 16 Pro 256gb vs 512gb

Hi, I'm planning to get a 16 pro and am confused between 256gb or 512gb. Is it really worth splurging the extra amount?
Till now I used to get the basic storage, be it 64 or 128gb. But eventually it used to fill up to the brim (in around 3-4 good years of usage). I usually take pictures when I'm on a trip or out with my friends. So, is 256gb okay for long term usage or should I go for 512?

2025.01.20 13:00 Ok_Constant_1188 Studienteilnehmer gesucht für 120€

Hallo zusammen :),

2025.01.20 13:00 liquidcoffee110 How to pace while working

I work a relatively active job. I'm a laboratory scientist so most of my day is standing and basically cooking and doing dishes. I was just doing the dishes and had to take a break halfway through to put my feet up and drink water (and write this post hehe) because my HR was high and I was getting dizzy. How does anybody else deal with this? I can't have my water in the laboratory so I have to walk to the locker room or lunchroom to drink (Not far it's a small building). Do you tell your supervisor about these things? Your coworkers?

2025.01.20 13:00 deamonsunset I accidentally beat the entire ORT raid without using a single 5* unit

I overestimated the amount of servants I'd need to beat ORT and ended up going by class from the bottom up. By the time I used the first few 4* i was already done (the last unit I used was Summer Illya).
I honestly feel quite underwhelmed simply because I was looking forward to using some characters I usually don't touch, and while that certainly happend I wish I'd deployed someone like Constantine when I had the chance.
So yeah totally my fault, you definitely don't need to be super strategic about which servants to deploy, I ended up only using about 1/7 of my total roster. (227 servants, all at max. Ascension)
Though I wish I'd taken a screenshot of my servants before the final bar because that would be pretty funny.

2025.01.20 13:00 Dismal_Ad9435 5 year old octopus?

Hello, I need your help please! My brother-in-law bought a whole bunch of things during COVID and stuffed it in a chest freezer in case the world ended. It didn't... and he gave us the freezer as they needed the space. It came with this 1 kg of cleaned octopus and has been sitting in the freezer since then... Do you still think it's okay to eat? How long does frozen food last for without going off?

2025.01.20 13:00 Willing_Insurance_69 Roll the dice.

First post on Reddit but have to share this experience. Got myself an Ultrahuman Air Ring. Within the first 3 months stops working. No bluetooth connection, have tried all online troubleshooting. Hard reset does not work. Have reached out to support - reply times stated at 180min. Honestly you’re lucky to get a reply within 2 days from customer service just randomly blabbering. No dedicated support. Really a roll of the dice if it works or not.
Ultrahuman I understand this was a kickstarter project but scale your product so support does not lack. Malaysian price is RM 1600 or around 350USD. We expect better.
Please reach out and fix this nonsense.

2025.01.20 13:00 20minutebooks The Fear Factor - Book Summary

Explore the Complex Role of Fear in "The Fear Factor" by Abigail Marsh
In "The Fear Factor," Abigail Marsh challenges our traditional perceptions of fear, revealing its unexpected connection to empathy and altruism. Discover how fear, often seen as a negative emotion, can actually inspire acts of kindness and courage.
Marsh, a renowned neuroscientist from Georgetown University, dives into the cognitive and neurological underpinnings of fear, exploring how it influences behaviors in surprising ways. Her research highlights the amygdala's critical role in fear and empathy, particularly in understanding the behaviors of altruists and psychopaths.
Key insights from the book include:

Marsh also explores how literacy might boost empathy, suggesting that higher literacy rates could foster a more compassionate global society. Through compassion meditation and deliberate practice, altruism can be cultivated, transforming fear into a powerful motivator for good.
