Hello everyone! English is not my native language so please excuse me for mistakes. All names are fake.
This looks like a school drama but I'm 28 and my bf Adam is 29. I've met him 2 years ago through one of my college friends Amy. Amy and I are not best friends, but we are close and meet regularly. We've both moved to this city for college so didn't have relatives or friends here. So when her brother decided to move here too she introduced him to our friend group, we hit it off and started dating. We have a good relationship, with ups and downs but nothing serious, we've talked about previous relationships and life in our hometowns. So I thought that I knew him or his friends quite well. We've visited our hometowns together, I've met his childhood friends and he mine.
So one evening we were together at my place watching movie, we don't live together. Plan was for us to watch movie, eat pizza and then he will spend the night here. While watching movie he received a Whatsapp message, and another and another. At some point it started irritating me cause it was constantly beeping. Asked him what is it about, he answered it's his best friend. I assumed it was Jack, his college friend who convinced him to move here. I got back to movie but any time I was looking at Adam he was texting, he spent whole time on his phone. Even after movie he was texting all the time and barely can hold a conversation with me. At this point I was pissed and said that he clearly is more interested in his phone than me. We started arguing and he left. The next day he apologized, said that he got carried away and was very sorry. We met later and made up, but he was still texting, just not so frequently. At some point he started again completely ignoring me and texting non stop, so I asked him what he was so eagerly texting about to Jack. He said he was not talking to Jack, I reminded him about his reply "my best friend". He said he meant his childhood best friend. I've met several of his childhood friends but he never pointed out "the best friend". I asked him who exactly it was and he said Ashley. I was confused cause I've never ever heard that name before - not from him, not from his hometown friends or family. I asked him about that and he said that at some point before going to college they had a fallout and stopped talking. He wouldn't say about the cause of fallout, just it was long time ago and now it doesn't matter. I pointed out that it's weird that no one ever mentioned Ashley if she was his best friend. I asked if they dated and he said no. After their fight she left town and they blocked each other because they both said hurtful things, but now he wants to meet her and catch up. Adam was trying to calm me down that it's just a friendly catch-up and they never had any feelings or anything for each other. They are meeting on these weekends but I still feel kinda strange about it.
Would I be AH if I ask my bf's sister about Ashley and what had happened between bf and her? I don't want to go behind my bf's back but his story doesn't make any sense. But most of all i'm really curious why no one mentioned his best friend Ashley.

What the title says. I'm looking for some brand recommendations. I've tried running leggings from REI, Title 9, and Oiselle. When I'm running I have to keep pulling the tights up (and yes, they are the correct size). It's not like they are actually going to fall down ...just don't like the "crotch gap" lol. it's been over a decade since my dad died from alcohol related conditions.
Yet it doesn't fail ever time I feel lonely and as though I can't move on i miss him so much. He was my only parent and he did his best. I just saw a post about a great dad and I had one of those. One of the best humans I ever met and till this day I strive to exhibit the parts of him everyone admired including me.
In alanon I've learned that he didn't want to drink he just couldn't stop. In therapy I learned he didn't leave me it was just his time to go.
The unrealistic part of me says its silly to be mourning so many years later but when he died I realized he was the only family I ever had.
Sure meeting him at bars at 630am was weird but I drank my coffee and he his whiskey and we both left ready for a new day. A tradition we held from the time I was 11 which moved from his kitchen to the bar when his at the time wife kicked me out.
I knew things were wrong when he would miss our weekly date . If only I could travel in time but that wouldn't change anything. He left this plane and there is no brining him back. Yet how much I miss him.
The more I lean into this uncomfortable feel the more I recognize he did something no one else ever did. He saw me for who I was and loved every part of my personality. He was proud of me and I knew it. He was my confidante in a world where I could trust no one. He was the only person despite being drunk my whole life who always had time to talk to me, hold space and support me in my dreams.
As an only child who is an orphan some times I think I need to get it together, I'm 40 years old. My daddy's been dead since I was in my early 20s and yet, it's almost like i miss him more every single day. I value all he did for me differently and mourn how much he gave me with his sheer presence.
in the same feeling I blame his second wife for being abusive and giving him valid reasons to drink. I hate she survived him and wonder would he have found recovery if he had gotten away from her? Would he have found true partnership and given me a healthy mom if she never showed up? I know that's all irrelevant. He's dead and all this is a waste of energy.
Nothing will bring him back but he will always live in my memories as the most amazing dad that ever lived.
