I recently saw in the WSJ that Harvard MBAs are struggling to find employment.
23% are still looking for jobs after graduating in spring 2024. In 2022, that number was only 10%.
How could this be?
It seems that MBA seekers are actually risk averse people. They pursue a career path that "guarantees" them a high paying and respected job.
The dirty little secret? The middle management positions that they've been groomed for are gone. And we've destroyed them.
You see, building an org chart historically has come from people and their preferred tools.
Say you need to build a sales motion. You hire a head of sales, maybe a CMO. They bring their CRM of choice, something outdated and expensive. They need someone to be responsible for it. Then you need a software for financials.
Then you hire a CFO and the minions that surround them in accounting. Of course they bring all of their softwares too.
All of a sudden, you have stewards of these tools. It's created process where there was flow.
Constipation where there was movement.
An innovator didn't setup these processes, often it's the people who were taught "best practices" at a fancy MBA.
For the first time, however, companies don't need this form of knowledge worker, if you can call them that.
They are being phased out.
A friend of mine said that he used Gemini for a deep research project for his firm and it was similar quality to a McKinsey report they payed 2m for.
Management consultants should be afraid.
AI, agents and AGI. The triple A's of this year to end the bureaucracy and stagnation of mangers of managers.
Along with it, they will be the strong wind to dispel the mind fog of genies and soothsayers.
Meaning your average employee or VA is now a Goliath, if he can use the tools correctly.

Has anyone weighed out the pros and cons of leaving the country? I’ve been holding on to hope for soooo long everything seems bleak now. I’m tired of living in fear. It seems like I have my back against the wall and have nowhere to go. Has anyone considered leaving for good? Or know anyone that has left and made a better life for themselves elsewhere? I’ve always wanted to travel the world, then settling somewhere nice and quiet to live out a long and happy life. This doesn’t feel attainable in the US anymore.

I'm filing a claim for a leaky roof. Long story short, insurance won't cover the roof, but will cover damage to inside paint and drywall.
Adjuster estimated $3800 for drywall repair and paint. After deductible and depreciation I got a check for $64. The depreciation was around $1600.
My question is this: what happens if I get an estimate more than $3800? Will they give Me a check for more? First time ever using insurance.

I’ve never had PPF on a vehicle. I’m seeing lots of posts about PPF. I just took possession of my 2024 OT+. I doubt if I’ll do much (if any) off-roading. I just liked the look of the OT, no third row, and the bigger tires. So, do I need PPF? The car came with a dealer installed graphene/ceramic spray-on protection with 3 years coverage for paint including water spots on chrome, bugs, and bird droppings. It’s from www.caltexus.com and called ResistAll360. If I have this, do you also recommend PPF? If so, where? Grill, hood, and side mirrors. What benefit would PPF give that this dealer-installed coating does not? Thanks!

Hi everyone. I’m brand new to this sub but I feel like it will be a nice place to browse and lurk and get involved in some discussions :)
I’m curious to know if most of you have been in previous relationships before becoming “single and happy”, or if you’ve just never been into dating.
I (27F) have never dated or been in a relationship with anyone. Never even went on an official date. It’s not that I’m opposed, I really just keep to myself, don’t go out of my way to meet guys, and am content doing stuff (hiking, camping, vacations) on my own. I don’t plan on always being single but I don’t actively try to change being single, you know? It might be the only child in me… plus I have seen a lot of my friends and acquaintances working way too hard to keep toxic and stressful relationships afloat, and I would rather be single forever than deal with any of that.

2025.01.21 00:48 FriendlyNeighborOrca My ear has been feeling clogged, no wax and I have lost hearing in that ear.
For a year now, I have felt like my left ear is clogged. There is no wax when I clean. I have felt like I have lost hearing in that ear. I don't know the reason. I have also started having tinnitus in that ear.
At first I thought it could be using ear buds but I only use them on my right ear. So, that I can always have one ear to listen to others when they talk to me.
I have been trying to live with but today I looked it up on Google and it says it could be a brain tumor. I'm scared know.
I've had two surgeries done on my ears before. One in 2010 when I was 12. That was my right ear. And one in 2018 that was my left.
