2025.01.21 00:43 SSAS02 Caused a major car accident with a trailer truck and I feel so stupid.
I don't know if this is relevant but I just got my drivers license a week ago, and been driving by myself for only 3 days. So I am driving to work in the winter and I had both defrosters on because my windshield had this white film on it that I thought was frost because I have been driving across state in worse weather conditions and to an from work and I did the same thing I did then the day of the accident and my windshield visibility would clear up. It was getting cold as I was driving and I decided to press the defroster for your legs too which turned off the big defroster thinking the windshield won't get the white film on again because it cleared up by now. As I am driving down route 1 to go on I95 the white film comes back stronger and the sun shining on my window is making it 100x worse. Wiper fluid is not working, probably frozen? And as the windshield was getting worse I slow down from what I remember 30-40 in a 50mph road and I put the big defroster back on so I can see the road again, and this time, it didn't work, the white film combined with the sun starts blinding my view of the road. At this point I am in the lane to get on the ramp and I told myself I need to pull over because I can't see ANYTHING! I put my hazards on, slow down, can't see anything in front of me and I can't look anywhere else but in my rear view mirrors. So I start freaking out and attempted to pulled over on the shoulder but I ended up hitting a legally parked semi-trailer truck that was right in front of me and my rental bounced back into traffic another car hits me from behind and my car almost ended up under the semi truck. Car is completely totaled, I was charged with reckless driving and I have been inconsolable ever sense. I feel so stupid for not doing things experienced drivers told me after the accident happened like slowing down and don't try to go into other lanes without having a clear view of where you can safely move to, another one was rolling my window down so I could see? Another one was wiping my window, because they think it could've been the condensation from the cold air and intense heat? I think it may have been the salt from the roads but I think I should've cleaned my windows. I didn't know and feel so stupid for not knowing.

2025.01.21 00:43 DomDomBear When to ask for a roll.
New keeper here. I've been reading the rule book back and forth (even converted some chapters to text to speech to help cement the information in).
The rules say many times to try and only ask for a roll based on what a player says or investigater does.
I've come across a few areas where the player wouldn't necessarily think a roll might be needed or realise one was possible.
For example. We were playing The Lightless Beacon and in the study it says there is a chair on its back by the writing desk.
When the players entered the room, I gave them a quick overview of the room, but left out details unless they went to look (eg, "there is a desk with scattered papers across it".)
It says in a successful INT check they can assume the chair was flipped over as if someone got up suddenly.
My question is, what would promt me to ask for the roll? It felt a bit clunky saying "you can give me a int roll on the chair".
It could be myself and players getting used to how the game runs, and what things they should be checking over.
Another example in the same room with the paintings. (I forget the exact rolls as I don't have the text to hand), but there were 2-3 different rolls that could be done, for different pieces of information. They might succeed on a art/paint roll and I give them information, what's for them to know more information would be available? Rather then think they've exhausted that clue.
Bonus question: is it good practice/scary to ask for a roll not telling them what it is against, and myself checking if they have passed/failed on their character sheets. (I am think specifically about the mother's gift in Blackwater Creek, they might drink or eat something.) I feel like if I ask for a roll and they don't know what it is for, or if they passed or failed, with the possible outcome of these showing up later might illicit dread. Though I didn't see mention of this in the rule book

Something curious I realized now that we are in the finale of Wonderful, is that Subaru shares not just his animal friendship with Gaou like the Wonderful Cures do between themselfs, but along side the real Gaou, both follows the naming pattern that the protagonists have in their Cure names:
-Cure Animal (cry/sound onomatopoeia) -Cure Human (bond/union allegory)
Thus we have the two duos: -Wonderful (Wan = Woof) & Friendy (Friendship Bond) -Nyammy (Nya = Meow) & Lillian (a style of thread union with yarn)
Then we have: Gaou (sound for howl) and Subaru (which literally means "to unite" in japanese).
Interesting how Subaru was actually named to be a parallel to both Iroha and Mayu while Gaou was a parallel to both Komugi and Yuki name wise.

2025.01.21 00:43 iConfueZ Why are there so many delays to most actions
Jumping while ADS has a delay. You can't make fast ads/sprint to fire weapons like you could in MW3. While you can ADS while sliding, the slide itself feels heavier and slower. Consecutive slides have a significant delay.
Game takes a step forward with omnimovement, but takes 10 steps backwards with all the delays and the "heavy" feeling.
What do y'all think about the movement of this game compared to MW3?
