2025.01.21 00:43 Moonpotato11 Ski Public Transit Trip Report: Arapahoe Basin
Today I took the Snowstang to A-basin. This will be a shorter report; if you want more general details about the Snowstang, check out my report on taking the Snowstang to Copper.
A lot of you clearly didn’t learn to ski in the -2F freezing fog of northern Idaho — due to the cold, the bus, I-70, and the parking lots were as empty as I’ve ever seen them on a holiday. The bus had about 12 people, and I invited 3 of them. Two of those people asked the bus driver if the bus would continue on to Copper when we arrived at A-basin, which brings me to a tip: the Snowstangs all go to one mountain, so make sure you get on the right one. They are pretty well labeled inside and outside, so I don’t think it’s super difficult to confirm. The bus left fed center maybe 10 minutes late (scheduled 6:35) and got to A-basin at 8:30 (scheduled 8:10). The road was mildly snow packed, but pretty alright. Things unsurprisingly go better without traffic, though there was a brief stop at the tunnel to send hazmat trucks through (or something, I was napping). The Snowstang never goes over Loveland Pass, which, while probably prudent for a big bus, does slow the trip down a bit. As for the skiing, A-basin didn’t fill their lower lot and never opened the backside (Booooo!). Snow was a bit slow, but it was a nice time. My rage about people driving to the mountains alone kept me warm early on, but it got tougher to stay out in the cold in the afternoon. The bus left A-basin on schedule at 4:10, and we were back early to Fed Center after an uneventful drive at 5:45 (6:15 scheduled)
As a final thought, A-basin is a really great place to ride the Snowstang. You avoid paying for a parking reservation and are likely to get a ticket even if the reservations are gone. Additionally, it parks right next to the lodge, saving non-negligible time compared to walking from the upper lots.

2025.01.21 00:43 Ratio01 Absolutely struggling to grasp Generations 🗿
I've been getting into Sonic a bit recently between watching the movies and hearing such fantastic things about Shadow Generations so I picked up the game of course. I decided to play Sonic Generations first before hopping into Shadow's campaign and, I'm lowkey having a miserable time
This is effectively my first Sonic game. I had Colors, Rush, and one of the 50,000 classic 2D game collectipns growing up but barely any of em
Anyway, to get into my issues I'm hoping to fix, my main problems are the controls. Modern Sonic in particular feels incredibly unresponsive. His turning radius feels extremely weird/sluggish, jumping physics have felt about as bad, I keep getting tripped up by that landing burst move thing if you hold down X after jumping, and the aiming reticle for Homing Attack has been extremely finicky in my experience so far. I'm only an hour in, currently collecting the boss keys for the first 'world', and I just cannot get used to the controls and movement at all. I've tried both the D-pad and analog stick on my DualSense (I'm playing on PS5), and neither feel great
I'm mostly worried that I'll have these same issues with Shadow's controls, but if there's any advice yall can give to improve with Sonic that'd be ideal. I did buy a copy mainly for Shadow Generations, but I've been wanting to play base Generations for a while anyway so I decided to go through the base game first
If there's any advice on how I could improve or approach the game better, it'd be very much appreciated

I just moved here 2 days ago and as a former New Yorker (upstate) I am finding Houston’s response to a mere 5 inches of snow comical. I saw blankets on bushes today, like Disney fleece blankets. Jokes on me for trying to escape the NY winters. (Ps relax it’s a joke I understand Houston does not have the infrastructure in place to handle snow and freezing temps, that being said stay safe and warm everyone)
