I got a parking ticket and successfully requested a hearing by mail to explain the circumstances. My “court date” was January 16. They said the results of which would be emailed to me. I filled out and faxed my papers in.
It’s now January 21, I have no emails, and I just got a letter which says pay by January 31 or it will be sent to collections. And the amount on this paper is about $20 more than the original ticket amount.
I keep trying to call the municipal court to talk to someone and every single time I call regardless of time/day, an automated message says they’re experiencing heavy call volume and it hangs up on me. What are my options? Go down to the court in person?

Hi! Yes, it's one of those, but my case seems to be extremely specific.
I downloaded SNES9x and FF IV, and I played it with my controller for about an hour. Then I minimized the window to write a message on Discord.
When I went to the game again, the controller stopped responding. The keyboard input still worked, but it didn't read anything by the controller.
The strangest thing is that it didn't never worked. It was fine at the start. But as soon as I minimized the game once, it broke everything.
Troubleshooting:
- Unplugged and plugged the controller.
- Restarted SNES9x.
- Redownloaded SNEX9x.
- Tried other ROMS.
- Restarted the computer.

- WIndows 10

Hello. I relocated to Maryland in the DC area two years ago. I’ve been renting a condo/studio from a property management company. The lease I signed was for 1 year and then went month to month. It was fine, since the owner didn’t increase the rent. So fast forward, I come back from my hometown vacation January 5th, 2025 and I get a letter in the mail dated January 9th, 2025 on January 13th, 2025 (mail was delayed due to federal holiday and snowfall in the DC area) from my property management company indicating that I have to vacate by March 31st, 2025 due to the owner wanting to sell.
Okay, fine, that’s their right and I’m not gonna push back against it. I go into overdrive and today, I was approved for an apartment and I indicated I wanted a February 1st move-in date. I tell this to the property management company, but they’re telling me that I’d still owe rent for February because I didn’t give 30 day notice. I’m trying to do things the right way, but I feel like if the owner wants to sell, why do I still need to give a 30 day notice and pay rent for February, when I can be out? I just want to know if there is anything I can say or do for the property management company and/or owner to just make this transition as smooth as possible? Because if I pay rent for February, I’d feel obligated to stay, but after all that has happened, I want to leave ASAP and don’t want to potentially lose the new apartment I was approved for by asking if they could push back the move-in date.
I just need some general advice here, because I want to do the right thing, but I’m also frustrated at the timing of everything and dealing with my current property management company.

I have a setup where my MacBook Pro is connected to my Pro Display XDR with a single cable. I frequently unplug and replug that cable as I am in a university. Should I get a simple external hard drive connected to the display, or should I set up a NAS? Is a NAS unreliable for Time Machine? The only thing I'm worried about for an external hard drive is having to eject it every time I unplug my computer, does anybody have a solution for that?
