2025.01.22 00:01 Boori-Cat27 Emergency Leave excuse to skip work and attend a job interview
I recently had to take an emergency leave to attend a job interview for 3 hours as it was scheduled in the morning. I just told my boss that I had to take my sister to the hospital. Now they are asking me to get a medical certificate from the hospital, to ensure that I took my sister to the hospital.
I have been working for this company for 6 months, the job is easy but it has a toxic work culture and environment. I am thinking of handing in my resignation tomorrow as when my boss told me earlier that this might not be the job for me. And he has also mentioned that my family has to understand that I have work and job to do. They basically told me that job is important and family comes after that. I was shocked to hear it. There was one instance, 2 weeks ago I had to attend my husband's Nan's funeral. I did tell them about it prior to the date, but I was told that they prefer that I work half day. I don't really want to work for a company who doesn't care for their employees.
Am I required to provide a medical certificate in this instance?

When I was 10 my grandmother passed away. The injury was still healing, one night I dreamed about my parents driving me somewhere and the skies were dark and cloudy, the car was parked in the exact same parking lot where we used to park the car to visit her. One of my parents told me to come in while I started to rain. One if them said "come on let's walk in" then I don't remember what happened later. This is to this day probably one of the most dark dreams I had.

2025.01.22 00:01 Chris_P_Tiddies Need help urgently
I had a Lenovo Legion Y520 Tower for a while a couple of years ago and suddenly it stopped working one day. No power was coming through and I couldn’t figure out what it was.
The past couple of days, my brother and I were trying to see if we can find out what the problem was by eliminating potential causes and even going as far as replacing parts from our current basic pc. We thought maybe it was the power supply, so we switched it out with the one from the other computer and it still didn’t FULLY work. Here’s the weird part. On the working PSU, There’s a little button for I guess forcing a kick / triggering power for as long as you hold it. Soon as you let go, it shuts off again. Whenever we held it, everything turned back on as long as we held the button, but there was still no actual image coming through or anything. So seeing that the PSU worked and everything actually switched on, we tried the screwdriver method, thinking it may be the actual power switch at fault. Still, it didn’t boot up. We tried switching out a couple other potential faulty parts for working ones but nothing works. The only clue we have is that if we use the button on the PSU, power comes through to the motherboard but it doesn’t want to stay on.
Any help would be appreciated, I can provide pictures in DM

If I dont mind doing the W8-BEN and inheritance tax risk, what would be in your opinion, the downside for an australian to buy and hold any one of those ETF for long term (25 yrs+)? For context I use IBKR to buy US domiciled ETF
