As a foreign attorney looking to join a real estate team in V100, I am wondering when do firms potentially look for entry level associates given that most are hired through summer associate programs. I have 5 years of experience working on real estate transactions outside US and have one year of experience as a law clerk in the US working at a boutique law firm doing mostly trust and estates litigation. I passed the July CA bar and await admission. I reached out to my network which I have built extensively and have been told by most to keep checking in but there is no opportunity as of Dec 2024. I have been told by some partners that there was an uptick in the market in Q4 of 24 so there is hope and there will be need for associates. Besides reaching out to my network and applying to recruiting department of firms, is it a good idea to email the partners directly who I want to work with? I am also in touch with a recruiter who was referred to me by a Gibson Dunn partner and she is waiting for me to get the license before she can assist me. So any suggestions/advice on how I can get back to doing real estate transactions would be appreciated.
PS: Despite my experience, I am okay with entry level because US firms like to discount outside US experience and even at entry level I would earn more than I do right now so I don't mind starting from zero.

How long did it take for you guys to potty train your puppy? I’ve had mine for a month and have been very strict with it. He’s still struggling. The past week he was doing good so I decided to give him a little more freedom and let him run around and play upstairs while I cleaned and he had 2 accidents (note he was let outside 10 minutes prior to this). Not sure if I did this too fast. Any advice is appreciated. I’ve had other dogs and potty training was a lot smoother than this.

Is it significant that the USW Flex is marketed on the UI website as indoooutdoor while the Flex 2.5 Poe is not marketed that way and seems to operate in temperatures as high or as low as the USW flex. Makes me wonder if another 2.5 outdoor flex is on the way or if they figured 1 G USW flex is good enough.

It finally happened. Almost two years from my layoff I have an offer. I've endured what so many others on this thread have shared. Conditional offers rescinded, not filling a position after a final interview, ghosting, ageism, AI impact on Higher Ed MarCom roles and the like.
I've been to the same very dark places you have experienced with in your search. I've wrestled with the demons you have. The fear and hopelessness, the anger and despair, and the inability to even get out of bed some mornings mixed with sleepless nights other days.
I am one of the lucky ones. I am 60, but I got dozens, if not, hundreds of interviews and was a finalist close to a dozen times or more.
My advice to other older searchers? Get your resume professionally redone by a reputable firm, update all your social media platforms, especially LinkedIn. Be more active on LinkedIn. Do not post anything anywhere else but if you do, make the content relevant to your desired profession. Stay away from politics.
Learn AI basics and use it for interview research. "Tell me five unique opportunities company X has in the market in your area. Tell me five important challenges facing company X and the industry." I found Claude AI most helpful.
Give yourself 24 hours after a rejection to experience the pain. After that, move on. Don't kill yourself by looking at job sites every hour. A few times a day is all you need. The LinkedIn job post already has over 100 applicants, move on.
Finally, be angry. Be angry at God, your circumstances and your plight. Give to God all these feelings. It wasn't until I prayed that I can't do this anymore, only God can solve this did I finally see a change, and finally an offer. I'm not the most religious person but I could absolutely see a change in my interviews after I surrendered myself. Now I have an offer I will accept and another final interview tomorrow that might even be better for me!
