So, I stayed home from work to sign for a package that was scheduled to arrive before 2 PM, according to FedEx lol. Well, it's 8 PM now, and no one at Fed Ex can tell me if the package on the way back to the terminal or still on track for delivery today.
Why does FedEx over-promise with delivery dates and then disappoint by failing to deliver as promised? I'd rather have a realistic delivery date than get fooled by FedEx again. I have three FedEx packages on the way to me, and all three were promised early, but after failing to arrive early, the delivery date is now just unknown. Limbo.
What kind of business model does FedEx run? Does the ever-changing delivery date appeal to gambling addicts or other mentally unwell people? USPS and UPS are generally good about keeping their delivery dates, so why is FedEx still in business?

I just got back from my second trip to CDMX. My last day there I hired a driver to take me to the monarch reserve in Michoacán (so 6+ hours in the car). He spoke and understood English fairly well and told me he was learning English and I of course told him I was learning Spanish. This man said to me: “you speak Spanish perfectly. I understand you well. You are Mexican!” 😭
Now, my Spanish is FAR from perfect, but hearing him say that was was so encouraging, and further proof that this method works as intended. A year ago I couldn’t understand a word of Spanish, and now I’m able to understand and communicate essentially everything that is necessary to get around in a Spanish-speaking country.
For context, today I am at 876 hours of input with three hours of speaking practice that I did with WorldsAcross around 750 hours before ultimately deciding to deepen my vocabulary with more listening before continuing to speak. Obviously, in many instances it’s not possible to speak in English, so I forced myself to interact in Spanish whenever possible and truthfully things came very naturally.
I still have a bit of imposter syndrome but it is so exciting to think that eventually I’ll be able to truly speak and understand with confidence (because obviously I have a long way to go) but I know this would not have been possible without Dreaming Spanish and this sub. I look forward to posting a 1000 hour update soon!

I just really need to rant because it is still relatively new and driving me crazy. In 2023, I was grateful to have been accepted into two graduate programs. One program was very established, prestigious, and close to my home, in turn it was much more expensive (over 200k in loans) and longer duration. The second one was newer, still developing, but shorter and the faculty seemed very nice and impressed me. I ultimately chose this program due to the lower cost and less time in school (I felt rushed being 24 years old, now I realize I shouldn’t have felt so rushed). Anyways, I had forfeited my deposit to the other program and began school this past august. Immediately I felt uncomfortable going to school everyday. I had an hour commute, culture in our cohort was toxic, and program was unorganized. I did well in every class except one. I failed the first exam and was crushed. I reached out to faculty early on and truly sought help. I was able to improve my next two exams, however by the time of the final I was so overwhelmed, very borderline, and my anxiety unfortunately got the best of me. I ended up failing the course and was dismissed before I could even attempt a retake of an exam. I was devastated. I reached out for help so much and at times was ignored or told “you’ll be fine”. Reality was I was not fine. I often think back on if I chose the more established program things could’ve been so much different. I hate myself for wanting to rush my education. I hate how I let finances get the best of me. Coming from poverty I was so excited to have a masters degree and break the generational curse, but yet I’m finding myself back to square one, re thinking what I want to do with my life. I know this mindset isn’t healthy, and that even if I took back time and chose the other program things might not have been different either, but I am just so upset. Any thoughts or words of advice would be nice. Thank you

Hello. I am hoping to find a good friend, someone with whom I could spend many evenings together on call, pondering about life. I am introverted and neurodivergent. I prefer small company.
History. I have had an interest in history for almost a decade now, it started back in school and developed from there. Well, now that I think about it one could argue that it started even earlier in my life as I liked watching the odd historic documentary or film aired on television but it wasn't regular back then, I never actively sought it out. I am mostly interested in European history in the period between the 18th-20th century but I sometimes branch out to other time periods and other parts of the world. I watch various channels related to history and read articles and sometimes books. I have recently got a few books on the German revolution of 1848/1849 and a historical magazine on the Thirty Years' War. Besides that I try to visit museums sometimes.
Literature. Especially old novels. I like to immerse myself in the Worlds of these books, I tend to read them while listening to thematically fitting music and take my time with them. One time you are following a troubled Youth in his quest for spiritual understanding of the world, another you see the aged and decrepit Doctor waging his very Soul on the promises of abtaining satisfaction in earthy pleasures, then again your olfaction notices the most pleasant scent known to man even as the one eminating it has the appearance of a revolting Frog (Can you guess it in your reply?). These and many other stories open up to you once you decide to set foot into the literary World.
Languages. I know three, with one being a bit rusty. I am currently working intently on strengthening it. I believe that if I continue to apply myself in this regard then I should be able to finally conquer it. What language am I working on? Well, if you were to stack all the major works in it they would be as tall as a house... It is fun to go through different works in multiple languages, the same goes for film, games and such.
Games. I recently played Cyberpunk 2077. Well as recently as I played any major story centric game. Now that the dust has settled and the bugs mostly removed...It's not that bad. The main questline at least. Besides that I tried Fallout 76 (Very average, I'm dissapointed with what they made the "RPG" system) and I might give Deus Ex Mankind Divided another spin (since it's somewhat similar to Cyberpunk when it comes to its aesthetics). Dark Souls is one of my favorite series, I still haven't beaten Elden Ring though. When it came out I wasn't in the right mindset to invest a hundred hours into it, with all those bosses and difficult locations. I think I'll only consider playing it if I am streaming it to someone. I am generally interested in either streaming games or having the person I am talking to stream them to me. To be specific I mean streaming to a single person while being on call. Besides that I'm a big fan of Paradox strategy games, especially Europa Universalis IV and Heats of Iron IV, I tend to only play single player since I find multiplayer with many people to be rather stressful but on the other hand I have nothing against a co-op game. I'm not the best player though, despite the ammount of hours I have in them. Another great game I would mention would be Dragon's Dogma. A very underrated RPG. I recently beat it again and it was an atmospheric and interesting experience. It is one of those games that feel like they have an endless ammount of depth and constant new secrets to discover.
Anime and Manga. In recent times my interest in them has waned but I still watch the occasional series here and there. Some of my favourite series include: Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, Death Note, Fate;Zero, Psycho Pass, Code Geass and Attack on Titan. I wouldn't mind if you were to introduce me to some new series, maybe based on the ones I mentioned. My favourite Manga is Berserk which I still follow, althought I am still not certain on the direction that the new author is taking. I suppose it really is a matter of contention whether a somewhat (or considerably warped) vision is better than an unfinished work. One could argue that a few novels remain unfinished and possess a macabre appeal to them as such.
Music. Classical music has a very special place in my heart. A few of my favourite pieces would be: Clair de Lune, Nocturne Op. 9 No.2, Devil's Trill Sonata, Danse Macabre, Valse Sentimentale, Symphony No. 7 in A Major, Op. 92: II. Alegreto (by Beethoven) and Suite from Swan Lake, Op. 20a: I. Scene. Moderato. There are more but these ones always invoke something in me when I listen to them. Besides Classical I also enjoy listening to Synthwave, old Western pop and J-pop, both modern and from the 20th century.
Esotericism. I am interested in things spiritual, mystical, magical and esoteric. I have read religios texts, magical grimoires, introductions to various schools of thought. It is interesting to me.

 | I’ve got some Tribal branded Triple Burger Live Resin FSE from Cannara under scrutiny today. It was purchased from Mendo. All of the Tribal live resins I’ve had looked similar, and this one’s no exception, a darker yellow sugary sauce in the usual big top, small bottom jar. In my Carta 2, the tasting notes were gas, rubber, onions, garlic, and a little meat. It’s a very complex flavour with lots going on. When you write it out like that, it sounds like it would be horrible, but I think it’s actually super tasty. YMMV. 😂 A nice easy cleanup, with a light brown reclaim at 495. This is excellent medicine. It was exactly what I expected from Tribal, which is their strong suit, consistent quality at a reasonable price. This was a recommendation from Reddit, and they were right, I think this is my favourite Tribal resin so far. Unless you have a real dependence on digits, don’t depend on these, the THC was 75% and 8.5% total terpenes, with limonene and caryophyllene as the top two. Hi lovelies! :3 so I always thought that matter eater is just like a black hole modifier so ti speak: it goes through anything consuming it in its entirety. However This run I found a wand with always cast matter eater and now that I'm in the Temple, I found a place that was turned to cursed rock and tried to remove it for convenience and safety. But ye, I couldn't xD now there's just a black patch of it that'll be harder to see 🤭 anyone know if this is supposed to happen? Thanks for any and all input! O7
