Before we start, i need yall to know my history with my mom.
My sister, dad, stepmom, and stepdad have said they see favoritism from my mom to my sister
2 months ago my mom lost her job, but still funds my sisters skating and herself.
Before this, my mom had been going about the same routine i mentioned previously.
I had been planning a day out with friends for my birthday. And lunch along with that My mom asked me the day of my birthday "happy birthday! What would you like for dinner and cake?" I answered with some stuff that could be made from home. And expressed that I might not make it for dinner that night
As me and my friends were heading back, my mom asked me where I was and what I was doing. I had just eaten at the local Dave's Hot Chicken, and i said that.
My mom said "I get it, you would rather spend your birthday with your friends instead of me"
That put me into a panic, because she hadnt said that she wanted to take me out to eat.
When i asked har about it later, she said she called out of work for today, and expected me to be there for my birthday.
Which i found odd because she never lead me to believe she cared about my birthday up until this point.
I talked to my sister about this and she said the day before, she asked my mom if they were taking me out for dinner, and she said no.
So, reddit, am I the asshole?
