Idk why i took this degree its not math enough for me to enjoy. I hate how empirical the classes are and im just an intern and everything i like about strucural was the theory behind it and now its depressing asf seeing the software do what i like doing for me. I honestly despise the business model i hate the oversimplification and i def hate how im suppoemsed to memorize equatiins rather than understanding how to derive them. Like i made a matlab script for continuous beam analysis using slope deflection method and now i get to the job and im pissed and dissapointed. I hate how the equations are spoonfed and not shown how they became governing equations.

2025.01.22 19:23 Lanky-Ad-1603 Sorry if not allowed - is it worth asking for a referral for TRD?

26 year history of chronic mood disorder, previously predominately anxiety and now switched to predominantly depression (assessed as 'severe').
I feel like I'm at the end of my rope. My condition has been frequently disabling, frequently for years (eg being trapped indoors for years due to agoraphobia - this is no longer an issue, just wanted to give an example). The impact it's had on my life is in itself extremely distressing - loss of jobs, loss of education opportunities, no serious relationship for ten years when I wanted to get married and have children eg. I think the illness is the biggest factor that led to this due in part to previous agoraphobia but nowadays just the pervasive hopelessness makes it hard to engage in the world.
So far, I have almost always only been seen in primary care and by psychologists. I had a psychiatrist briefly as a child, then I was screened for bipolar at one point and psychosis at another point at GP request. (No history of psychosis, I think the GP misunderstood something I said).
Have tried almost all meds available by GP but haven't had courage to get Mirtazipine (history of anorexia) or Duloxetine (very severe sexual dysfunction on the last drug I took that I haven't been able to recover from even after discontinuation so just scared of SSRI/SNRIs now).
Loads of psychological therapies.
I recently found out you're allowed to request a referral to a psychiatrist on the NHS but I'm unclear on the benefit of doing this. Is there something a psych can do for TRD that a GP can't? Or perhaps it's better to ask my GP for something specific rather than try to see a psych as waiting list might be huge? I thought psychs only deal with SMI on NHS - is this incorrect?
Desperately want help now as I'm really just living hour by hour and I don't know how I'm going to survive this. I feel like I haven't been alive the past 2-3 years. I just don't understand my options. I am trying to see a private psych ATM to try a second line drug (Buproprion if they'll allow it, especially given distress over sexual difficulties) but I can only afford one appointment so it's not sustainable.
In case it's important, no history of suicide attempt or self harm or anything that would bring me in contact with crisis team. Lots of ideation this past year, but no action on that.

On the back of the post about banning links from the former Twitter here, I wanted to point out that actions like Musk's are not the beginning of fascism. They are closer to the end result. This has been coming for years, and what is very concerning to me is that there are early warning signs from NACTFirst. We must not fall into the trap of thinking that it wouldn't happen here then go all surprised Pikachu face if it does.
Here is an article about the subtle early warning signs. Alarmingly, there are already a few that our own government is ticking off. This makes sense given the ties of various politicians to the Atlas Network and industries like tobacco, and oil and gas. Also, Seymour's admiration for Trump.

I just have rearranged my Gunpla and I have realized that I like my Gunpla just standing there in default mode on my shelf the most. I don't have the biggest collection (14; 18 including backlog) and I have to be a little careful about the little space I have.. Having them standing there without any action posing, the whole situation looks much "cleaner" and they don't take as much space as before.
Don't get me wrong - I do appreciate when people put their Gunpla into cool poses and many people (excluding me) seem very gifted in doing so, but I feel like I can appreciate my Gunpla the best, when they are lined up in the most basic way. Do you know what I mean? Like they just came out the factory.
Anybody here also don't put their models into individual poses?
