Hello, I am a second-year bachelor's student at EPFL, and I am trying to sign up for a summer internship program at another university. A recommendation letter from a professor is required, and I wanted to know if professors would be willing to write one in this case. Is it common for professors to write recommendation letters for opportunities unrelated to the curriculum?
Additionally, I would like to mention that due to the large number of students, I haven't had many interactions with professors apart from asking a few questions.

I (21F) am currently staying with my parents for a bit to save money before going off to grad school. I have a little sister, who is 9 years old. I love all of my family dearly.
But the thing is, my little sister hits. Like, will wind up her entire body to hit you with as much force as possible. She'll also kick and scratch, but she doesn't bite. I want to add that she is from a very loving family who has never so much as spanked her, so I don't know where she gets this from. I have never hit her either.
Today we were playing and I jokingly did something against the rules (went in a "no grown-ups" zone) and she came up and hit me on my collarbone as hard as she could. She's still a child, so it didn't hurt that much, but it definitely hurt more than it did when she was smaller. She immediately ran back to my mom and smugly smiled in her arms.
I walked up to both of them and said "discipline her for hitting me." My mom just said to her "don't hit people" and my little sister giggled. So I said, "She's already 9, what about when she's 11, or even 14 years old and hitting people? What then?". Mom only replied with "She won't be" and continued hugging her.
So then I said as calmly but as seriously as possible "You're right, she won't be. Because the next time she hits me like that, I'm going to hit her back. And I'm going to hit her like an adult. And I don't want to hear any crying when I do." And then I walked away, because I'm not going to keep playing with a child who hits me.
I'm currently up in my room and my little sister is hiding, upset in her room. So, I kinda feel like an asshole. I don't want to hurt her, I don't even really believe in corporal punishment. But she has hit me like this so. Many. Times. I've never even thought to count. I'm honestly very open to advice as to how to get her to stop hitting since my parents won't.

The number looks a good bit higher than last year, and our “donations” definitely are a part of it. They were bumped up to $400/seat in our section a year or two ago (section F), and now they’re up to $445/seat. Definitely discouraging to see that, and that might hasten a non-renewal from us.
It appears as if ticket prices might have risen a bit, but the numbers in my account history are all out of whack, so it’s hard to tell.

Both teetering on the edge to either be loyal to the family, or loyal to your friends. The scene where Nishikiyama aims a gun at Kiryu is exactly the same as Matsugane demanding Higashi to pick his side. Higashi made the choice right to him because he had the support of Yagami and Kaito. Nishikiyama without Kiryu made him fall. I order the office stationery. Just one office out of 50 plus in the building. There is a cupboard full of pens, post it notes, notebooks and every other kind of daily stationery. I also keep a few extras of these items in a cupboard that is locked. It's locked because other stuff are in it, it's not a locked cupboard full of stationery. Everything in the locked cupboard is exactly the same as what's in the free for all cupboard. I only stash some away so we never run out of things like pens. When my stash runs low I order more. A good system right?
Well there are a couple of women who got angry at me today because some of the stationery is locked away. I showed them what's in the locked cupboard and explained why it's there. They then made fun of me and started saying other departments stationery cupboards are really good ect. And kept asking why all our stationery isn't in one cupboard even after I told them why.
This did upset me because I'm not used to confrontation and I thought their attitude was absolutely ridiculous. They are being completely unreasonable right? What I'm doing is a reasonable thing isn't it?

Getting nowhere with the NHS
I've been going to the doctors about my facial pain and sinus problems since 2022. Tried various nasal sprays. Referred to ENT. Dismissed by ENT with chronic rhinitis. But the pain and swelling carried on. Went back to the doctors but got nowhere.
Went to the dentist who said I had TMJ. Got a nightguard.
Then the pain got so bad that I went to A&E in summer 2023. They diagnosed me with TN there and then, reacted badly to both amytriptyline and carbamazepine so on 0 pain relief.
Referred to neurology in December 2023. Still waiting..
Referred to max-fax. Was in and out within minutes, 0 scans, they just told me to go to a dentist.
Went to 2 different dentists. Had x rays on upper and lower Jaws. Nothing wrong with my teeth. Dentist referred me to a max-fax at a different hospital..
Idk how much longer I can take this pain, and I'm already anxious that this neurology and other max-fax appointment won't help either. Then what?
