I would like to start with this: I am not, in any way, shape or form, a fan of the Chinese government. China as a whole is just as much a capitalistic hellhole as the US, or any other capitalistic hellhole of a country we reside in right now. For full clarity, I live in France, and my country is, indeed, just as much as a capitalist hellhole as other capitalist countries (WHO WOULD HAVE GUESSED?)
However.
The mod team has made public a post where they explain they ban "CCP affiliated content" from the subreddit on the basis that "China is a hostile foreign government", and using shareholders as a basis to judge what is considered "CCP affiliated content"
I would like to start by reminding everyone that Tencent owns 11% of Reddit, and as such, the Antiwork subreddit IS "CCP affiliated content".
I would also like to ask: "hostile to WHO?" Hostile to the US government? Was this an "antiwork" subreddit that don't support workers that live over imaginary lines drawn on a paper map? Does the moderator team think they are the government?
Or let's be a bit nicer and assume they meant "hostile to us, humans who have to live under our capitalist overlord and are forced to slave away all through our life". But then, the US is just as much of a threat, nay, even bigger of a threat (if only because of its military power), to anybody, be they US citizen or not.
This is, and I won't mince my words, US nationalist propaganda. Plain and simply. This is not acceptable, whether it was on purpose nationalist propaganda or the mod team not thinking much about it and copying patterns (we are ALL living surrounded by propaganda, and NONE of us are immune to it, particularly in the US where anti-communist/socialist/leftist propaganda was an is still immense, and lot of people there grew up drowned in it)
Either way, this requires a public apology from the mod team. Not for criticizing China, which I don't care about, but for applying double standards and publicising nationalist propaganda, either knowingly or unknowingly.
It also requires discussion about the topic Outright banning Tiktok makes no sense. While I am *not* using Tiktok, and while I am against Tiktok purely because of how predatory it is and how damaging it is regarding attention spawn and concentration capacities, this is neither the subject here, nor is it the role of an antiwork subreddit to decide.

Has anyone ever had a credit counsellor and know about navigating credit card debt? I’m skeptical about the advice I was given. Here’s the short story. I owe a collections agency that bought my $2000 debt from my bank credit card. The interest has taken the debt from $2000 to $3300 in about a year. I’m getting daily calls with intimidating messages left on my voicemail.
So I decided to speak to a credit counselling agency. I chose specifically the Credit Counselling Society.
I arranged a phone appointment with one of their credit counsellors. I was advised that since the debt was under 5000 and my only debt that I should and I quote “walk away from the debt, and ignore the phone calls.”
I asked what if they decide to sue me for the debt and garnish my wages?
I was then told that because I am a person with disabilities that lives on a disability pension and part time income, and that suing and hiring a lawyer is expensive and it might not be worth it for them for this small amount. (I had previously disclosed my disability to the counsellor)
The credit counsellor also said that going after someone who is disabled is not a good look for a judge and that very likely the case would be thrown out and that the credit charges would be written off.
My questions are: What do you think Reddit community? Should I seek a second professional opinion? Should I try to arrange a monthly payment that means I would have to cut into my already small budget for groceries? Do I let it go to small claims court and hope the counsellor is right?
Please advise especially if you have some expertise on the subject.

Or am I practicing self care? Something else?
I’ve done pretty well when it comes to growing my career. Got a PhD from a prestigious school in a STEM major. Worked at some incredible companies in industry and increased my responsibilities as my career moved along.
I transferred to another career that was supported by my STEM experience and have done well.
Here’s the thing: the more time I’ve put into my career, the more I’ve hated it. Professionally it’s been an upward spiral but emotionally is a downward spiral.
I’ve been through something pretty traumatic the last two years and through that moved even higher up in my career by changing jobs. Per my pattern, it’s my highest level yet and I couldn’t feel worse.
I’m not motivated and am doing the absolute minimum. Not only do I not care about succeeding, I don’t care if I get fired and have no where to go.
My spouse makes good money and while me not working would impact our lifestyle we’d survive. Not sure what I’d do once I became unemployed but I’d want something radically different and radically less demanding. This would also mean less money.
A part of me wants to leave the workforce for good.
How can I apply stoicism to this? Am I already doing that?
