2025.01.22 21:52 ashes-16 New filament issues
 | Just got 2 new PLAs (basic i believe) from Flash Forge and my prints are no longer sticking to the bed. Have the FF adventurer 5M. All of the files I tried have been previously printed successfully with a different brand of PLA. Nozzle is still set at 220 and I’ve tried 55 and 60 for the bed temps. Hey,
odd question, but which software would I have used 10 to 15 years ago to mine Bitcoin? And where would it typically store it? Do I still search for a wallet.dat? I think I never used anything, because it was too difficult for me back then (and my hardware too weak), but the recent pump got me dreaming.
Is there any mining software which just starts mining without requiring to create your own wallet with another software? I have strong doubts that I was capable enough to configure the mining software and setup a wallet for it.

I hope you're doing well. I'm currently on vacation visiting family and wanted to buy a birthday present on Kleinanzeigen.de to ensure it arrives on time. Unfortunately, I can't log in or sign up from abroad.
I had initially planned to buy proxies for a separate web scraping project, so I thought, why not kill two birds with one stone?
If anyone has a subscription to Bart's ISP Proxies, which offers German IPs and allows you to change your IP address for free once a month, I would really appreciate it if someone could try to see if it is possible to sign up on Kleinanzeigen.de using the proxy. If it works, I'll buy my own and sign up myself. If it doesn't, I’ll save myself 50 bucks. I’d be happy to PayPal a few bucks as a thank you for your help.

“No no no!” Fritz frantically shouted at me.
“What, what?” I froze, looking back up at him. At least I think it's a he.
“You can't open the airlock before depressurizing. It'll blow the doors off. First, check the pressure gauge, once it reaches zero, you can initiate the proper docking procedure.” Fritz held up one of his hands? At least I think they’re hands. Each one has six digits with a palm split down the middle between them. Kinda like a crab claw but… Fleshy… And fingers. Gross.
You know, I've never really seen anything like Fritz before. His head was structurally a human analog, but with some differences. For starters, he didn't have a nose. Then the eyes. Two pairs. An upper pair, and a smaller, lower pair. I'm assuming they're tubular in structure. Like a jumping spider’s. Then his mouth is much wider it doesn't seem like he breathes through his mouth. Instead there's two holes on each side of his neck, just above his shoulders. I believe one might be an ear while the other is for breathing.
From what I can tell, his language is tonal. Before my translator can tell me what he says, there's a cacophony of whistling pitches and slight tail movements before his voice is translated. On the back of his neck, there's a patch of slicked back black hair that appears to run down his back. His skin is purple while the front of his torso is coated in smoothe large white scales. As they make their way down to his tail, they shrink in size.
“You know I don't have a perfect memory, right? So explaining things to me once and only once is a very bad idea.” I replied, crossing my arms and looking away.
“I understand, however, you need to succeed in a performance evaluation. If not, you don't get the job, you don't get paid, and then eventually you starve or desiccate to death.” Fritz replied, mimicking the gesture, although with his tail as well.
I sighed. “Yeah… I get it… But it's so boring. I can't focus at all.” I exaggerated my words and body language. By the subtle tilting of Fritz's head and the universal translator telling me, Fritz agreed with my sentiment.
“Yeah, I get it. Your evaluation is in a 10 day period… But for now, take a break. You must be mentally fatigued by now…” Fritz’s shoulders slumped slightly, my translator telling me the obvious. The wind has been thoroughly blown out of his sails. Dejected.
“Alright alright. I'll just chill out here for 30 minutes then get back to it.” I leaned back on the plush seat. It's like a booth, but table sized. It's weird but kinda comfy I guess. My eyes look around the station, making their way to a glass tablet of sorts. I picked it up. “What's this?”
“Hey! Put that down.” My translator told me Fritz was embarrassed.
“Oh yeah? What's on it?” I snickered.
“Nothing! Please put it down.” The hair on Fritz's neck stood up. I could probably guess it's a reflex to make him look bigger. But the translator is telling me he's embarrassed, slightly scared, and a little peeved.
“Alright alright. But only if you tell me what's on it.” I responded.
“It's a book I'm writing… In my spare time…” His shoulders slumped in resignation.
“Ahhhh. A hobby, huh? What's it about?” I asked, tilting my head.
“First, tell me about your species’ homeworld. Then I'll tell you.” Fritz said almost smugly, crossing his arms again. It kinda hit a nerve in me. After all, Earth was inhospitable to humans now thanks to HMTRV-36 plague. At least I think so. The ship was pretty much Humanity's last hope.
This time my shoulders slumped. “O-okay… I'll drop it…”
“Anyway, you have a two hour break to rest or eat. There's a vending machine in the break room.” Fritz's tail shifted, in what I assume to be his species version of a shrug.
“Hold on. Two hours?” I asked, bemused by the possibility.
“Hm? Yes. It's galactic standard. It allows for the muscle groups and major ganglia structures to relax and regain energy from digestion.” I Fritz held up his tail, almost like a human would a finger.
“Huh. Paid?” I raised an eyebrow.
“Obviously.” Fritz's shrugged. “It's actually a bonafide right ever since a member of the Talihan species sued his business owner after he passed out from overexertion.”
“Huh.” My mind went back to my old job. A botanist. A 30 minute paid break. One I didn't even get to take for a 10 hour shift. Yeah. This is much better. I made my way to the break room. The floor is entirely cushioned. I guess it's to let you sit or lay wherever without making 30 different seats of various sizes for different species. And the vending machine takes credits.
I sighed. “Damnit.” I saw the machine next to it with some writing on it. My universal translator telling me it says ‘nutrient paste dispenser.’ I grabbed a bowl, placing it under the nozzle and pressing the big red button above. A viscous, chunky, grey fluid poured out in a decent portion into the bowl. I gave it a quick sniff and nothing. Completely odorless. Grabbing a plastic utensil that looked kinda like a spork, I gave it a taste. It was lukewarm. It tasted like chomping down on a multivitamin, chasing it with an absurd amount of sugar, and then forcing a stick of butter down my throat. I immediately gagged as my body interpreted the taste as poison. Even if it wasn't. I have never in my life tasted something so evil.
After laying down, eating about half of that abhorrent goo, I made my way back to my desk by Fritz. “Please tell me the food and beverages in the vending machine are better than that nutrient paste.”
Fritz quickly responded. “Actually I'd advise against eating from our vending machine. See, since your species is unknown, we can't be sure if our foods are safe for your consumption. Plus the nutrient paste is palatable.”
“No. No it is not. It's evil.” I feel very strongly about this. “Who would make such a thing?”
“It's a little savory and a bit doughy but it's not that bad. Quit being dramatic.” Fritz’s tail waved it off.
“I'm going to attack you if you try to paint it in a positive light one more time. Got it?”
“Alright I get it.” Fritz continued. “Anyway, you should receive your payment by tonight. It'll be 15 credits for the 10 hours of training for today. Once you get approved by the performance review, it'll be 20 credits a day.”
“I don't know if that's decent pay or not. So I'll just say okay.” I shrugged. “But pay is daily?”
“Of course. It ensures you're able to pay for food and water daily.” Fritz responded. “And I can confirm, it's livable. I, myself, make 22 credits a day.”
“Yeah, it just doesn't feel like as much. I'm used to about 1500 weekly in our own currency.” I thought about it for a minute.
“Your economy must've been suffering from inflation. However, our government ensures that everyone’s cost of living is low enough to survive.”

This mode use to be fun when the stories was in depth and full of surprise turns. Now it just has turned into a side mode that has lack luster attractions. While there is still a story it isn't as interesting, as the Aether and Chaos storylines. Those were the days when zombies had hype and substance, now it's just driven by maintaining a franchise that is dying.
