I just don’t like the overall fake or cheesy K dramas, I like ones that have characters that feel real and have good development, are relatable and flawed. Even if the situation they’re in is very unrealistic (like fantasy elements) I’m OK with it as long as the characters and their back stories feel real. Some that I’ve liked are all of us are dead, squid game, parasite, Alice and borderland, and I want to watch young adult matters, train to Busan and the handmaiden. The one exception for a slightly cheesy kdrama was semantic error, but even then it didn’t feel as cheesy as many others that I’ve tried to watch. it’s not romance that I don’t like, I love romance. I just don’t like the cheesiness with shallow characters, shallow conflicts, or cutesy effects. Other romance ones that I liked were the eighth sense and itaewon class. Any and all recommendations are very much appreciated! I am currently learning Korean and watching people speak. It is very useful for me, but it’s hard to find good shows/movies sometimes lol. so i got hellboy on vinyl for christmas and it sounded wrong when i played it. it was ordered on amazon so i had it exchanged. new one came in and also sounds wrong. it’s oddly slowed and reverbed sounding. i tried adjusting the rpm on my record player even tho this one is 45 rpm and all my others are also 30-45rpm and sound normal. (adjusting rpm didn’t really help much)
has anyone else had this issue? could this be bc it was bought off amazon and not the official site? i looked at the reviews on amazon and couldn’t find a single bad one so i really don’t know what’s going on or what to do

(Trying not to make myself identifiable) I’m in my early forties so I feel a twisted sense of pride in being one of the first victims of online child grooming/enticement. In 1996 I was younger than 16 and he was just under 30. We talked intimately for about 6 months (nothing prosecutable, ie nothing overtly sexual, “just” love letters and a certain amount of obsession (20-hr AIM sessions). [AIM was AmericaOnline (AOL) Instant Messaging]
He bought tickets to see me. We were to meet and attend a major event in less than two weeks when my parents uncovered the chat logs and pictures of the plane and event tickets. It was a big to-do and I was TOLD (by my father) that the FBI was involved and charges were filed but only now, damn near 30 years later have I learned that the local PD had absolutely no idea what to do with this kind of case. And nothing whatsoever happened. And even TODAY, in my state (US), and even his state, there are ZERO charges that could even possibly be filed. There were no pictures, no cybering logs, and of course, I defended his every step and thought my parents were overreacting and completely crazy (even though my diary was full of insane dreams of marrying him when I turned 17… dreams I now realize he placed there like a cherry on top of a sundae). [fyi “cybering” is what us old folks used to call sexting in a chat room environment]
Anyway, until last week I never considered myself a victim. I didn’t even think it was super serious or dangerous even. I guess I knew I might’ve been convinced to run off with him but somehow, FOR THIRTY YEARS, I rationalized, blamed myself, etc instead of seeing this for what it really was. Only when I did a random (not so random) search and found two social network profiles stating his profession did I have an awakening. Only when I learned that he is surrounded by pubescent girls all day every day did I realize how absolute disgusting and dangerous he really was to me. Only last week did I become a victim.
After researching enticement and grooming laws in the U.S. I’m absolutely appalled that there is no recourse for parents and children dealing with this. I wanted, originally, to reach out to the school where he works JUST TO WARN them or beg that they stay hyper vigilant of his email and internet use. But how can I do that if there isn’t a single law he broke back then OR EVEN NOW!?
I want to send him a message that he has no business teaching middle schoolers. Wtaf. How many girls is he grooming? How many has he groomed? How many will he groom? I know for a fact he married an 18 year old not that long ago (divorced again already) and had two children with her. I wonder if she went to the school where he taught? What if he’s building relationships while they’re underage and then only making moves after they turn 18? My head is spinning with what if scenarios. No one seems safe. I’m sickened. I have a toddler and it makes me so sad to know he and his peers can’t be safe online anywhere ever. I have friends and family in the state where he is, how many have a connection to the school where he teaches? How many degrees of separation are there, really, between me and his other victims? Probably not many.
What would you do? An anonymous letter to the superintendent? Befriend an IT person that works for the district? Burner accounts on the parents groups for the school? I’ve thought of it all.
Oh, and, what if, the highly unlikely happened and he got help for his proclivities and has never re-offended. What if I was a one-off? What if he’s perfectly well behaved and an upstanding citizen in every sense? If I raise a red flag for nothing?

2025.01.23 01:24 DBshaggins Why isn't my yeast taking off?
I'm a little worried. It's been almost 48 hours and my cranberry wine must doesn't seem to be fermenting yet (no bubbles in the airlock). This is the longest I've had anything go without taking off, granted this is my 5th batch of wine ever and I've never done cranberry. Recipe and process went as follows
Fresh cranberries 16lbs
sugar about 10lbs (SG 1.103)
yeast nutrient 2.5 tsp
pectic enzyme 2.5 tsp
acid blend 3 tsp
I froze and thawed the cranberries and then mashed them with a potato masher until all of the skins were busted. Dissolved 10lbs of sugar in hot water, poured over my fermentation bag full of cranberries and topped up to about 5.5 gallons. Let cool to room temp and mixed in pectic enzyme, yeast nutrient and acid blend. Crushed 5 campden tablets, mixed that in and let sit for 25ish hours.
Yeast: Hydrated 2 packets of 71B 10:1 in 98F water. After 20 mins I added a cup of grape juice with 1tbsp of sugar dissolved in. I let it sit for about three hours, adding 1/2 cup of my must to the jar and swirling every hour. The starter was bubbling and fizzing the whole time. Added to the must, mixed and put the lid on with an airlock attached.
Notes and concerns: Acid test kit I got gives results in %tartaric. (measured at 30%). The room I put the ferment bucket in got a little cold that night (55F) I moved it to a room that's 72F where it's sat for 24hrs now. Bucket is confirmed sealed tight at the seem and airlock.
Mashing all those cranberries turned out to be a lot of work, so I'd be pretty sad to see this must go to waste. Any help or advice would be more than appreciated!
