So, my cousin Ryan (fake name) calls me last week in full panic mode. He’s racked up $5,000 in poker debt and needs me to cover it “just until his next paycheck.” Naturally, I ask how he managed to lose that much.
He starts rambling about how he’s been using this app, Preflop Wizard, to “study the game” and how it’s been working he was up for weeks. But then, at his big casino game, everyone played “wild hands” and “ignored the math,” and suddenly he’s down five grand.
I tell him no. I work hard for my money, and I’m not about to light $5,000 on fire because he thought he was the next poker prodigy. That’s when he hits me with: “You’re family. You make way more than me. $5,000 is nothing to you.”
I hang up, thinking that’s the end of it. But nope. He goes crying to his parents my aunt and uncle and makes me out to be the villain. Next thing I know, they’re calling me for a “family meeting.”
They sit me down and try to guilt-trip me, saying, “Ryan made a mistake, but he’s been working so hard. He just needs a second chance to bounce back.”
When I point out he shouldn’t have been gambling money he didn’t have, they start rationalizing: “Well, he was winning before, and he’s really gotten good at the technical side of poker. Plus, he’s family. If we don’t help him, who will?” (I make significantly more money then anyone else in my family combined so they are super entitled)
I refuse again. They’re annoyed but ultimately agree it’s “my choice.” A week later, I hear they caved and gave him the money themselves. They even told me, “If he uses it properly, he’ll win it back in no time.”

2025.01.22 22:01 vexeval That's not my animation (NLA, preview doesn't match game view)
Hey all! Had an issue I'm looking for another pair of eyes on. I've recently started getting a handle on using Blender NLA strips to export animations to Unity, but I'm finding that for whatever reason my idle arm animation is simply not what the preview & blender clip shows it as. For reference, the weapon has its own animator and is parented to the right hand of the arms (things like the priming handle being static and arms not reaching properly is due to me breaking and reassembling this thing for hours trying to fix it :p). I'm planning on cleaning everything up after the issue is resolved. I suppose the main part I want to highlight is that in Unity, the "idle" animation playing during gameplay is not the same as what the double-clicked clip preview shows it should be. Not only is is facing downward, it is ambiently moving slightly almost reminiscent of my actual idle animation, just without the hands in the right place to support the rifle (denoted as APR88 for now). As far as I'm aware, this fake idle clip seen at runtime doesn't exist anywhere in my files. I checked my animator layers to see if something had a mis-set weight or other issue, but it is lined up correctly. I would ultimately like to line up the animation process by starting with idle empty hands that transition to the weapon upon an animation trigger sent to to the arms & weapon. This would play my initial equip spin animation, before switching to the true idle animation, with the weapon raised at the ready (not downwards with incorrect hand placement as now).
I've been badgering the project with tweaks to the Blend project, Unity animators, and tweaks to the weapon source, but I seem to be stuck. Any insight to this would be super appreciated! I'm newer to posting here, so constructive criticism around that is welcome as well.

Here's my second attempt at a floorplan. I switched to straight columns and flush girts, made the bedrooms smaller, extended the garage, enlarged the closets, added kitchen counter space, made a dedicated mudroom, eliminated most hallways. The front door is now centered and looks better from outside. There is a central mezzanine denoted by the grey rectangle. 9 columns shown in case I decide to do a freestanding mezzanine. I haven't decided if I want to do a freestanding mezzanine or make the walls below load-bearing. Does anything here stand out as a bad idea?

I just adopted a street kitty, her name is Kiwi- she’s a fluff ball (her parents are apart of a colony I feed- Siamese and Himalayan) and is a total PEACH. She’s about 3-4 months old. When I took her in she was COVERED in fleas- I gave her a gentle flea bath and combed all those little bastards off of her and she is definitely 10000% flea free. Her ears are also clear of mites. She is really congested and has scratched her ears almost completely raw and has quite a few scabs on her. I wonder if it’s cat herpes and she has her first vet appointment in a few days for her first vaccines/general wellness/fecal read/etc- but until then she’s just so uncomfortable and itchy I want to see if I can do anything to ease her irritation. I know flea baths are drying to the skin- she only needed one and it was very diluted. She has great hygiene- grooms herself fine (not excessively) but is just scratching her skin raw in a few places. Her appointment isn’t until Monday, is there anything I can do to help ease her irritation? Could it be feline herpes? Mange? Any suggestions/advice are greatly appreciated!

2025.01.22 22:01 Shin_Ryuuji I am sick and tired of Soulslikes and Soulsborne clones in games (AND I HATE THE STAMINA BAR IN GAMES. ITS SO UNNECESSARY)
I am sick to death of the majority of action games and action RPGs. Almost every single action game and their mother tries to be a Soulslike or Soulsborne clone.
I am sick and tired of it.
Whatever happened to hack-and-slash? beat-em-up? Fast paced action? The slow and tactical, heavy, janky style of Soulsborne really turns me off so much. I have played so many Soulsborne games and Soulslikes I am tired of it. And I HATE THE STAMINA BAR. it's one of the most unnecessary things in gaming.
Every single time I have a stamina bar in games, like Monhun for example, I find a way to get infinite stamina or negate it. Same with every other game that copies Soulsborne for having a stamina system. It's absolutely unnecessary for MOST actions, especially when you either can get infinite stamina or negate it entirely.
STOP giving us stamina bars in games and STOP making Soulsborne clones/Soulsborne likes. I just want more pure fast paced action games like we used, and more hack-and-slash/beat-em-ups
While I'm at it, go buy Monster Hunter World+ Rise + Wilds, the God Eater games and Dynasty Warriors Origins. These are games that do action right (Also yes I do get sick of MH and GE having a stamina bar but I tolerate it because I love the games)
