2025.01.22 22:21 Heavy_Preference_251 Fellow vets, Do you ever feel guilty about having a high VA rating? (80%)
Hey guys, just wondering if you feel guilty or undeserving of your VA rating.
I separated at 6 years and I’m 24. I initially thought I was going to get 10% and did a BDD claim and was given 70% and was extremely shocked, 2 months later they raised me to 80% and I was even more shocked. The C&P provider I had was exceptional, and really cared about my concerns.
All I did was be completely honest about musculoskeletal pains, mind you I was never seen in person while I was active duty for my injuries because I did not like to complain. There were times when I needed to be seen at medical for pains but I kept my mouth shut because I wanted to fly missions and do my job. The only time I mentioned anything was at my SHPE and my C&P exam.
Now that I’m out of active duty I do actually see the repercussions of my flight medic job on my body and my daily life is affected and I feel like an old man some days. Even knowing this I still feel undeserving of my 80% rating. I know this is amazing for my family but I still ask myself why me?
I grew up with nothing and the military gave me stability. Knowing I have over $2k coming into my bank account by just waking up and breathing blows my mind everyday. It feels like someone turned on a cheat code in my life and I see others suffer financially around me like my close family or friends and I know I’m not supposed to tell them my rating (thanks reddit) lol I know it wouldn’t really benefit them to know so I keep it between me and my wife.
I don’t know if this is survivors guilt or what.. or imposter syndrome when I see the proof that I am an Air Force Disabled Veteran.
What’s crazier is that I didn’t even mention everything I could have claimed for. I know I could easily get 90% or even 100% if I really wanted but I just don’t feel like talking about some of the things that messed me up mentally while I was in. If I was given 90 or 100 I’d probably feel even more undeserving.
Why do I feel this way about this VA compensation? Why do I have to try and convince myself that I deserve this? Does anyone else feel this way? Were you guys were rated way higher than you expected as well and felt the same way ?
Sorry if this was a rant. Just wanted to reach out and see if any of you vets feel the same way I do. Have a blessed day guys

It's been a long time since I read it but I think it was a full color comic about 4(?) different women that had their own secret. One was a Yakuza who was pretending to be an ordinary housewife to her husband. Her men lived in the apartment next door and would do the cooking and cleaning for her cause she was terrible at it. I think one women was hiding her age. I don't remember what the other 2 were but they were all hiding something. The women either knew each other through school or they worked together. It was like hide your past/ hide your age for the different sections but I can't find it anymore. Thank you for any help.

Im not entirely sure what more I need or was expecting- it does exactly as advertised... its an electronic note tablet made to read documents and capture hand written content emulating the feel of paper.
However, it's a little underwhelming? This is my first eink tablet, So please take what I say with a massive grain of salt.
I am still dedicated to finding the right fit- im a medical student and paper pile monster who learns best by putting pen to paper. I also love drawing the biology and physiology of medicine since im a visual learner. I would love to hear feedback on what I can and can't expect to help guide my search.
And yes, I know some of these are really silly- but I wasn't even aware that it mattered to me until now.
- Absolutely hate the app. I wasn't sure what users were talking about- but it's massively inconvenient, pedantic, and annoying to place my PDFs into this. I don't even really know why besides the fact that it feels like im being owned by Remarkable. It's this odd feeling that in order for me to use the device I have to give it my stuff- what's everyone's favorite way to transfer files? which device do you think does it best?
- as someone who is reading PDFs that contain images and data, I often need to scroll not turn the entire page. Elements on page 1 will flow over onto page two and I'll need to see both pages to interpret. But having to use two fingers to scroll is a little tedious. call me high maintenance but I thought I would be able to use my thumb and keep my hand positioned on the device as I read.
-maybe its because I am looking at more complex PDFs, but I am quite surprised by the lag and refresh frequency. Yes this is inherent to the technology, but again since I am scrolling its distracting to lose your place when the screen clears.
-the screen doesn't have a light- which I knew. But it's way dimmer than I thought. or the ink is faded? not as rich? At 30 y/o I have perfect vision, and have yet to need to bring anything closer to adjust focus, but I find myself having to do that with the RM2 since the ink color and the grey background sometimes are too close in tone.
- Can't see shit when you highlight it
- (silly/superficial) there's no fun screen saver. There's no fun customization of anything. Can I even include symbols of any sort?
Let me know which of these things are inherent and which of these things are based on the model of the device. I am also considering the Manta...but after some thought I think I might need something in color if only for the highlight function.

So I was doing my yearly "why tf do I have 100+ apps" cleanup and realized there are actually a few I use or appreciate almost daily that I didn't want to delete. Thought I'd share in case anyone's looking for some genuinely useful stuff:
Strong: Probably the least BS workout tracker out there. Super clean UI, quick to log sets, nice haptics and sounds and the rest timer actually makes sense. I've logged over 300 workouts now and it's really helped me make progress. I pay for the premium version for more templates, but honestly I just want to support it.
Endel: Stumbled on this in some YouTube rabbit hole about focus music. It's really minimal and well designed which I like. The soundscapes adapt to time of day and I use the focus mode for deep work. It's science based. Weird how good it is to get into flow.
Open: I don't use this all the time, but I appreciate it and keep it around because it makes me feel better whenever I use it. Love the daily meditation sessions. The sound design is the best I've seen. This is the most expensive subscription I pay for, but the few times I use it make it worth it.
YapNote: Found this on reddit and it's become a daily tool. I use this when going on walks to speak what's on my mind or to remember everything from meetings. I like how simple and clean it is and it transcribes well. Automatic summaries and ai answers are solid.
Left: Saw this on X a few weeks ago. It's free. Shows you how many days left in the yeaday. I keep the widget on my home screen. Sounds depressing but it's oddly motivating to me.
Haby: Nice and simple habit tracker with widgets. Got it during a free lifetime promo on indie app santa. Clean, simple, works with widgets. No unnecessary bells and whistles.

HI,
So i added a new disk on the system and a rescan shows the new disk, However, it does not have a uuid, i tried doing
# pvscan # pvscan --cache Is it possible to fix the missing uuid without doing a reboot? I already googled and most of the fixed i found is running the command above or just rescanning.

Love the exploration aspect and sense of urgency in survival games, but I really don’t enjoy base building and complex crafting systems that force me to gather materials to build a compost heap to be able to get a special type of seed in order to build a grow a special form of tree that allows me to finally build the sword I want.

2025.01.22 22:21 zingyzongy I can’t stop vaping smoking and drinking!
So i’ve vaped for 4 years pretty much non stop every day and i’ve smoked 🍃🍃 almost every day for 3 years and drank alcohol most days of the week for about a year 1/2. I finally want to stop because i feel really unhealthy and i’m starting to notice it effecting my physical appearance more and more (i’ve lost a lot of weight, got a lot more acne and my face just looks generally more ugly and sunken in, my boobs have shrunk and my hair has dropped out a ton). Ofcourse lots of these things could be to do with other things like the fact i’ve dyed and bleached my hair loads and had a lot of struggles with eating for the past few years. I’ve started to feel a lot more comfortable eating recently maybe because i’ve been going to the gym as well but i still crave vodka and weed and sometimes feel like it’s all i can think about. I’ve tried to quit vaping lots too but i think hitting my vape acts as a distraction from the intoxication that i crave, or at least that’s what i tell myself. I haven’t smoked or drank in almost a week but i’m still vaping. Does anyone relate or have any tips and advice on how to get over this?
