I have been an Android user for my entire life and have never used an iPhone. I switched from Samsung to Apple just recently when I purchased my iPhone 16 Pro last month. I already updated to 18.2.1 and I still have these issues. I just want to share the things that I have noticed which were quite inconvenient and head-scratching.
Non-exhaustive list:
- Opening camera shows the UI but it is just black, buttons were unresponsive until after some time everything loads in
- Using the action button to turn on the flashlight sometimes does not work despite the haptic feedback and display screen signifies that it is turned on
- Random settings being turned on randomly (e.g., Bluetooth)
- Some UI elements shows template reference (example: changing the function of the Action button shows "TOGGLE_FLASHLIGHT_APP_INTENT_TITLE" instead of just "Flashlight", this happens to every shortcut too)
- UI rearrangement and grouping is very egregious, Apple is new to this so hopefully it gets better
- Clicking a shortcut for example lets say searching "Back Tap" from the home screen and selecting it takes you for a tour through the entire Settings > Accessibility > Touch.
- Back tap feature does not work most of the time, requires me to reapply the settings for it to work until it does not again then the cycle repeats
- Face ID gets slower and slower. Restarting the phone makes it snappy and quick again.
- Most applications do not support the swipe to back which would require you to click a tiny button on the top most part of your screen
- Apple Intelligence is buggy and mostly unresponsive, it would start listening and then just gives you the cold shoulder
- The lack of built in keyboard functionality or customization such as hold & press shortcuts
- Screen orientation is frustrating to work with, it does not allow you to choose which side of the phone you would like to be on landscape
Onto the discussion, I want to know who is encountering these things or if there are any Android users who recently switched that would like to share their experience with the phone. If you have any suggestions or tips for me, I would like to know them as well.

2025.01.22 22:02 explosivewaffles Bluetooth issue with NSO controllers
I have a second batch Mister Pi and using the wifi + Bluetooth adapter that is sold in the same website and most people here seem to use.
When I pair my Xbox and PS4 controller they pair up instantly after I turn the Mister off and on between sessions. The same can't be said for the NSO controllers. They pair and work perfectly initially but once I power the Mister on and off between play sessions they don't pair again unless I open the pairing menu and hold the button down on the controller.
What's strange is while they refuse to pair instantly the Mister still shows that it remembers the controller as it has to forget the controller before it pairs again. I use all the NSO controllers (NES, SNES, Genesis, and N64) and they all do this. Any suggestions on what could fix this?

I (22M) became friends with "Claire" (25F) in mid-2022 while training as pro wrestlers. We quickly grew close due to shared interests, experiences, and even attending the same university. Over time, we became best friends, and she was someone I felt I could rely on.
In late 2023, I went through the worst depressive episode I’ve had in years. I felt like no matter how hard I worked, I’d never be good enough. I distanced myself from everything but tried reaching out to Claire for support. She often responded with long, reassuring messages, promising to be there for me, but her actions rarely matched her words. Calls went unanswered, and I felt like I was the one always reaching out.
By early 2024, I decided to distance myself from her to focus on standing on my own. After a few months, I found stability, and when we reconnected, we picked up where we left off. I thought things were better.
Unfortunately, in late 2024, I hit another depressive spell, worsened by unexpected medical issues. I reached out to Claire again for support. She responded with her usual reassuring messages but then ghosted me again. It’s been over a week now, and while she’s posting about spending time with others and training, I haven’t heard from her.
I’m not looking for constant attention or full conversations. I just wish she’d check in occasionally, especially when she’s told me she’d be there. I created an album. Selected specific friends with whom I wanted to share this album. Then I added the photos. It created a post, which apparently was made available to ALL of my friends, because two friends who I did NOT add to the specific friends list “liked” this post.
I did not want everyone to see these pictures.
This should be a very simple thing to manage, yet Facebook screwed it up.
