Heyo.
This is bananas but - I am adopting a lurcher very soon! He's a rescue. Totally lovely temperament. He's around 4.
I have loads to learn, but one question:
I am planning on him sleeping in the room opposite my bedroom. With the door open and my bedroom door ajar. I do not want him sleeping in my bed. He can get on the furniture, but I draw the line at beds.
Should I crate him or would he stay sleeping in the room on his own? I like the idea of him coming in to let me know if he needs to go outside.
Any tips? He's very untrained (he may have been previously owned by travellers) but seems to learn fast with treats.

2025.01.22 23:14 SaddamsKnuckles We need a better Chat UI/UX

I like to keep certain subjects categorized. For example, I have a "Random" chat for quick questions and a "Software" tab for help with programs. However, I don’t like how the app automatically opens a new window for typing when I start it. I’d love the option to choose which chat opens by default.
Secondly, why does every voice interaction with GPT create a new chat? By the end of the day, I end up with transcripts about the same topic split into 20 different chats. It would be much more organized if voice interactions could continue in the same thread instead of creating separate ones.
We need a more userfriendly and customizable app across the board.

Hi, a relative is asking me to be a lease guarantor for him (international student, no credit history). His family is more than likely to keep up with the rent, so I don’t worry about him defaulting. However, what I’m wondering is how the guarantor liability would impact my mortgage application. Would it create any disadvantage for me? I have two mortgages, plan to refinance one within the next 12 months if rates go down, or I may apply for another mortgage for another property. Appreciate any insights!

2025.01.22 23:14 castironman10 Need some opinions from professionals who work on cars.

So I just got my brake fluid flushed and refilled at an auto shop in town that I've been using forever. Right afterwards, I go on a 15 minute drive, and my brakes are spongy. At an intersection, I have brake power, but the pedal sinks in and I had to use my emergency brake to keep still at the light, and even put it in park just because it was letting me slide forward a tiny bit.
I called them right after and they said to come right back. Turns out that one of the screws were loose and every time I was braking, I was losing fluid and air was getting in.
I'm just a little shook up. I did some searching and on a scale of how negligent this was, it was like a 7 or 8 because brakes are so serious. Granted, I only used the car for about a little less than 40 minutes, but it doesn't diminish the potential risk of this.
I trust these guys for everything and they've worked on cars I've had for about 7 years on and off. But this is seriously a huge mess up in my eyes. They said it looked like the screw was tight and it was not. I know nothing about cars, but how could you miss that?
I'm scared to use the car even after doing some brake tests and it seems fine now I think. It refuses to sink against me. Am I good? Should I give these guys another chance moving forward or go to the other guy in town who I've gone to a few times that also does good work from what I've seen? What other checks should I do on this car? I trusted a business in an indirect way with my life in this car, so I'm really anxious now to keep doing so.
Any actions should I take? Should I call back and scold them or something? They were quick to fix it but I'm upset processing everything. It just didn't feel like it was taken ultra-seriously and I didn't hear a "sorry". It was handled very much "matter of factly" to me.

Kids and I are cruising Fantasy out or Port Canaveral in a few months. Due to the high prices to fly out on disembarkation day, we will stay extra night. We will be saving $800 if we fly out the day after. If we have one day to spend at Disney World, which park should we go to? We are annual pass holder at Disneyland, California so we want to try something different. Kids (5 and 10 year olds) love rollercoasters. We kinda want to check out Avatar land in Animal Kingdom, is there anything else to see there?
I understand that a day at Disney world would be like $800 plus one additional night at the hotel. Is this a bad idea? I'm open to any suggestions, really.

Ciao a tutti, Sto finalmente per iniziare a fare un pac mensile con etf, vi dico la mia situazione e i miei ragionamenti.
Ho 33 anni e uno stipendio medio e vorrei continuare ad investire per i prossimi 25/30 anni. Il capitale non sarà tantissimo, e siccome ho una buona capacità a sopportare la volatilità (background crypto da qualche anno), ho pensato di fare solo azionario. Ho scelto SWRD, ma sono indeciso se invece di un 100% su singolo etf, spingere leggermente l'acceleratore con un 90% SWRD e 10% XNGI. Tra tutti i settoriali che stavo valutando, penso che internet sia l'unico in grado di resistere ancora per i prossimi decenni a venire. Mi tentavano anche altri ad esempio SMH o JEDI, ma tecnologie simili potrebbero essere soppiantate (SMH) o perdere d'interesse (JEDI).
Molti sconsigliano di andare sui settoriali, e comunque ho sempre il mio portafoglio crypto per la parte più speculativa (da cui non prelevo niente e ancora non lo farò per anni).

Might be a dumb question but a client is asking me to do edits for a website that's supposdly been done with C# and Blazor and he has it hosted on Valuehosted. He didn't give me the source code and just gave me credentials to access the code on the hosting website.
Thing is, i'm confused with their file manager and don't know how to extract the source code from it. I want just the source code in a zip or a github or something. Should I ask for it, or is it normal to download files from the hosting website?
