Hi everyone,
I'm at a bit of a position that I didn't think I'd be in quite as soon as I am. Last fall, I had a job that I liked and I was in for a short time, but I got a job offer to work for a department for my country. I applied to it before I even started working at the job I had at the time. With the job offer, I got a substantial pay raise, good retirement, and ability to work mostly from home. The thing that mattered to me especially was job security. I have trauma from being let go from jobs every one to two years. I have landed on my feet, but I don't want my luck to run out. I've been seeing a therapist of course to deal with the trauma, but unfortunately I'm feeling very anxious right now because all my fears are coming through very quickly.
I knew I was taking a risk on things, but it's happening even worse than everybody said. First everybody at my current job said that any changes would take months if not years to enact. I just found out that since I'm on the one year probation for being a new employee, I might not even have a job for long with a new memo that went out the other day. I also just learned that my ability to work remotely now is going to be gone very quickly, as in within a few weeks. There are reports of running out of desks with multiple people sitting per desk. Those who don't have a desk just simply have a chair to sit in. I was fortunate in getting my work hours changed to be early in the morning so I don't have to deal with traffic, but I'm concerned about everything at this point. Honestly, it's just creating a nightmare scenario for me to deal with.
I know that a lot of people are telling me to not give in because the intention is to push us out, but it's easy for them to say. I know it's good to still have a job, but things have turned completely hostile. It's a shame because I like my actual work and my team, but if the uppermost people in charge are going to make our lives miserable, if we even get to stay, this is a major problem. Even if I still get to have a job, I don't think I can deal with being in a crowded office considering the condition we all share. And an accommodations note I could easily see resulting in a target on my back with new policy that pretty much eliminates that being possible.
I have dusted off my resume, updated my LinkedIn, and started applying to jobs. At first I was thinking I wouldn't go until forced to be, but losing my ability to work from home so quickly is honestly a very difficult thing for me to deal with. And I have no guarantees on anything anyway.
I am wondering if I should reach out to my old employer, but I'm worried that of course it just looks desperate and that I've been replaced. I'm at a loss of what to do. I really did enjoy that job and had I known what I do now, I would have never taken this one.
If I do reach out, I don't know how to come across as not desperate when I wanted my career to be as good as it could be, but it seems like everything I aspired to is potentially compromised now.
I need to keep my career strong, and unfortunately, I have no one I can fall on, so I need to figure out something pretty quickly here. Any advice is welcome.

2025.01.23 05:01 TrafficK_ Is there something like a leap year for the time left over after so many years?
We have leap years because a year is technically a bit longer than 365 days so we add a day every 4 years to balance it out. The problem is that would make each year 365.25 when they're actually closer to 365.24, meaning every 4 years we get 0.04 days further away, which isn't much but after 100 years we'd be a day behind. The same can be said for the other decimal places in a year (365.241...)

Im on day 22. Id recommend learning a musical instrument or something that requires a lot of your time practicing!! Cause with guitar you have to practice practice practice honestly i dont get enough practice time in a day. And when im not practicing i want to listen to music or watch guitar covers on youtube and so im doing that instead of just lounging around and looking at my phone which lets admit is the main cause of people peeking at porn and causing relapse! Or if you catch yourself on a porn website or something stop yourself and put a song on and pace around your room to the music or something

2025.01.23 05:01 One_Association_6543 Can progesterone (prometrium) cause a sedative, calming effect?
I've been taking prometrium (100mg) right before I crawl into bed as part of my HRT routine for a couple of years now. On a whim, I took it this evening around 6:30pm, before dinner, and here it is about an hour later, and I'm sleepy, super calm, focused (and I have ADHD), which feels really nice. My anxiety is soooo high 24/7 - especially since peri-meno symptoms started about three years ago (I'm 49). I've never had this side effect because I take it and pretty much fall asleep thereafter. This is going to be a great way to wiomd down after a (always) hard day. :)
That said, I can't be sure it's the prometrium. Maybe it's a fluke? I haven't been drinking alcohol since peri started (it makes my heart race and sleep is crap) so I can't say I drank or imbibed in anything else that's sedating tonight. (I normally don't).
Does anyone else experience a sedative effect when they take progesterone/prometrium?

2025.01.23 05:01 UNCLE_NIZ Who doesn't Odin replace in arena?
I unlocked Odin today, and I took Gorr off my arena team to make room for him (Mephisto, Apocalypse, EndGame Thanos, Gladiator, Odin) and I feel like I struggled significantly more than usual. Should I have replaced someone else? Is there something else I'm overlooking?
