Iām 30F, childless, single, and I love Bluey the Australian kids show. I usually watch it to heal my inner child who didnāt really have a great childhood.
But a recent realisation of mine has really gotten to me.
I wouldnāt be able to get into too much detail but in short, I am now grieving the fact that I will never be able to experience the kind of āfamily loveā thatās always present in the show.
Most of my family or rather relatives are alive but I am healing from trauma Iāve had from how they have treated me from my childhood up to last year. Whatās ironic is they were the ones that cut me off.
I think a part of whatās adding to my sadness is I have moved from my home country to Australia three years ago. I love it here, but so Iām far away from my friends from high school to uni. I do have a number of friends where I live now but as an immigrant, I think I now feel like thereās no place I can truly call home.
For example, the friends I have here either are Australian so their family is here anyway or immigrants as well who are here with their partners or now have Australian partners.
Donāt get me wrong. I love my friends and would do a lot for them. And I am so happy for them that they have their own families and partners. Put it this way: my friends here and back in my home country are my family but Iām not really family for them.
Most of the time, I donāt mind being physically alone because I prefer this kind of peace over the chaos I grew up in.
But there are times, such as when I was dealing through multiple ailments during the holiday season alone that really got to me because of course everyone else is busy with their own families. (Disclaimer: my friends did visit me on Christmas day as a surprise because they knew I was sick. It was all the other days during that period that I was alone.)
I know my biological family was toxic to me and their absence in my life is actually healthier for me, but I am still crushed by the isolation I feel. Maybe itās because for the culture I come from, family is a big thing.
I also hate how that realisationāme not having relatives I can actually call familyāhas really soured my perspective of the tv show I love and now it hurts to watch it. Itās like Iām grieving a longing that will never be fulfilled.
Does anybody else feel this way? Would you have advice on how to deal with it?
I have been going to therapy (but itās going to stop soon unfortunately because I cannot afford it) and have brought up my family issues during my sessions. I was just curious to see if other people grieve this kind of loss.

2025.01.23 15:21 pandabronze My bank just called to revoke my overdraft protection.
I always have issues with the tellers at this local bank. She stated the reason it was revoked is cause I am constantly negative. But I always pay off the balance every paycheck. I thought that is what overdraft protection was for. I was suddenly called without warning and was told it was going to be on a case by case basis from now on. Also live in a racist town they do are not particularly friendly to hispanic people like myself hence the issues with those tellers. But I go to another branch and they still always call me and send letters in the mail from that particular branch. I signed up to receive paperless communications and I get bombarded with notices. Any advice?

My partner and i have had problems in the last few years and it led to him being really depressed and frustrated. During that time he broke a chair, tear off my pillow, punched the bed next to me and few times lightly punched me on my thighs. He is saying that this is reactive abuse due to my emotional abuse towards him. The abuse that he is talking about is that i suck at communicating, i am neglecting him in his opinion, i am running and hiding from our problems and i canāt make myself stop avoiding serious problems because i am afraid that i can not resolve them.
Last time we were in a really big fight was last summer. He tried to take my phone and i refused because he has done it several times and there is nothing on it. He tear the pocket of my pants and i started screaming and pushed him away maybe too harshly. We didnāt see each other for day. He called me and apologised and i got back home. He hasnāt layed a finger on me since then.
So my question is, can you forgive someone for being even slightly physically abusive if they are in a really dark place, they need help and you havenāt been the beat partner to help them feel any better?
