In HTML using for space, I get one space in the output. i've been learning french for nearly a month now, but what i've noticed is that my speaking level is not aligned with my reading level. i don't expect to speak fluently but i wanna be able to be as good as i am in reading or writing. right now i'm struggling to even say my age without stuttering. is it normal to be this way? if not what can i do to improve it? perhaps im not studying the correct way

Im struggling to find jobs in my field because of my old employer who ended my probation period because of a power trip that didnt satisfy her ego.
She would often ask me to work overtime and pretty much expect things that are outside of my iob description.
And when I confronted her about it, she said « this is how we do things here » and ended my probation soon after because she didn’t like my resistence to such treatment.
because of that I’ve been jobless. Because when I describe to future employers that my probation ended early, they assume I’m a bad worker. Which created a one year gap now that I’m struggling to justify.
Please help me articulate this better to interviewers.

The need wasn’t quiet— it roared like an engine without brakes, driving me past every soft shoulder, every exit ramp, to the cliff.
But it wasn’t a disease. It wasn’t random, like a rogue wave capsizing a calm sea. It was deliberate, sharp as a needle threading through flesh. I chose it the way one chooses silence when the room is loud with questions.
And I knew— God, I knew— the hurt it would leave behind, a hurt like glass beneath bare feet, like ink spilled across every page of your life. I knew it would ruin you in ways no architect can rebuild, but still, I chose it.
I chose it with the clarity of a scalpel, with the cruelty of an empty garden planted knowing nothing would grow. I did this, and I did this to you, because the pain demanded it.
But it wasn’t your fault. You couldn’t stop the tide or patch the cracks in my dam. Don’t carry it like a suitcase stuffed with stones. Let it rest. Let it sink. It wasn’t your fault.

2025.01.23 16:51 thelionessinside Does 35 hours of extracurricular activities a week sound fake?
This isn't every semester, but when you add up the hours that I put down, during my most busy semesters it's 35 hours total on just clubs, not even counting my on-campus job. I honestly think I am *underestimating* how much time I spent doing extracurriculars. I was a massive workaholic in college, so I spent nearly all my free time and sleep time doing things for clubs. So, I just went with what sounded like how much time a normal person would've dedicated to each. But since I had a lot of different roles, even doing that means I still have a ridiculous amount of hours.
So, basically, if I put the actual amount, I feel like they won't believe it because it would mean I barely slept or had free time (which is true, but I feel like they're more likely to believe I'm lying than that).
For context, I was the president of a sorority, was on the board for 2 additional clubs, and did 1-2 theatre productions per semester as a crew member and/or creative team member. I have my sorority as 10 hours per week right now, when honestly, I probably spent 15-20 hours doing stuff for it, no exaggeration. (I promise I'm not bragging - this literally was me doing whatever I could to not have to sit with my own thoughts. Only positive I guess is that I'm mentally equipped to handle the schedule of a lawyer lol!)
So basically, I need help figuring out how to make the hours both sound realistic while also conveying that I did put in a lot of time. What's the maximum threshold before it starts to look like I'm lying?

2025.01.23 16:51 Double-decker_trams I realised that there's no video game I've ever played where I find crafting fun. So I don't do it unless it's truly necessary. Are there any games where crafting is actually - you know - *fun*?
This post made me think about it. I never craft anything because it's always so boring and tedious and I find it annoying when the best gear in the game is available only through crafting.
So - are there any games with an enjoyable crafting mechanic? I.e not crafting like in WoW or Skyrim or Runescape or w/e. Is it even possible to make it fun for someone like me? And - as in the post linked previously - many other people like me?

I just recently got my childhood TV and it still looks great watching content on it. Its an old Sanyo CRT tv, and I've been watching my modern movies on my 360 lately.
Its got a display mode, where you can make it go from 16:9 to 4:3. But was kind of curious if there are any better methods to watch modern stuff on older TV's?

I hate that I am so bad at staying in touch with people. I think about people all the time, have their birthday in the calendar, think of people when I hear a song they'd like etc etc but messaging someone or emailing them is such a huge thing. I don't know why, I feel like there is some kind of mental block where even thinking of messaging someone just to say hello makes me so anxious that I react physically - right now even typing this I have a tight stomach and my heart is racing, and I feel this massive sense of dread.
this came up today as I need more participants for a study I am doing, and though that one way to seek more would be to make a flyer and share it online. I know some people who might be able to share it on their Insta to some effect, but I haven't messaged those people in a while, not even to say merry christmas or happy new year so I would feel so guilty hitting them up just because I need something.
it's eating me up because I want to be a better friend, and like my aunt sent me a lovely card for Christmas but even the thought of sending her an email to say thank you makes me feel sick. wtf???? and it's so rude of me to not even say thank you??? I hate it so much. the more time passes the guiltier and guiltier I feel; I feel paralysed by this
