2025.01.23 19:49 tuliprox Virus/Malware From Downloading Brave? Help!
As soon as i downloaded it, it created a shortcut for itself on my desktop, as well as another shortcut that has the Brave logo, but it says "Tecobuy_New Order #BUS..." under it, whereas the actual Brave shortcut says "Brave" under it and opens up the Brave browser. So when my husband noticed that, he was like wtf is that? And i was like idk. So he tried to open it to see what it was, and it kept trying to load some page up in the browser, but it would never finish loading.
So then the next day when i booted up the laptop, all of a sudden some of my shortcuts are moved around to different spots and they're all blown up like 2x the size they were before. So i told him and was like is that bad that looks bad and he was like yeahhh that sounds like a virus.
So yesterday when we were talking about it, he was like we need to right click and look at the properties of that shortcut. So today when i booted up the laptop (he's at welding college rn so i can't talk to him and ask him rn til he gets out of class in like 4 more hours), there was a ANOTHER new shortcut. It also has the Brave logo. But this one says under it "Removed Apps". So I tried right-clicking on it, and I literally didn't even have time to try to click on "properties". Literally all i did was right-click that new shortcut. And INSTANTLY like 4 windows popped up all in a row and they were black screen with white code text starting to come up on them and they said something with .exe at the end at the top so i just mashed the power button and turned the whole bitch off and ripped out the power cord lol.
I waited like 5 min and then powered the laptop back up. It seems back to how to was when i booted it up the first time today, before i tried right-clicking that new shortcut. But i'm kinda scared now lol so like... what do i do? Is Brave safe? It seems to be from everything i've read... i just really down't understand how this happened if I have Javascript turned off and have for years now and also haven't downloaded literally anything else in years :/.
I also just got a new phone and was wondering if it was safe for me to download Brave off of the google play store for my new phone or not?
My husband said it maybe could have been a mirrored site?? Idk, i just really don't understand how this happened and how fucked i am :/. Please help lol!

According to Synergy Research Group, worldwide spending on data center hardware and software in 2024 will grow by 34% from 2023, âpushing it to an all-time high.â
Google, Meta, Amazon and others led much of that investment. Indeed, according to the BofA analysts, those cloud companies are expected to grow their total capital expenses by more than 50% in 2024 â with an additional 22% growth in 2025. Much of that is due to the expensive hardware required to run high-performance AI applications in the cloud.
BofA told investors to expect data center investments to evolve through three different phases. The first is clear and happening now: Big cloud companies like Microsoft and Meta are investing in data centers for generative AI (GenAI) applications. The second phase will include smaller cloud players â think Oracle, Bytedance and Apple â building their own AI infrastructure.
âLastly, phase 3 is related to enterprises finding the right applications for the trained AI models,â the analysts wrote. âWe expect this phase to have slightly different characteristics, as we believe enterprises will build their own edge cloud capabilities for inferencing purposes.â
All that investment is drawing a variety of new faces into the sector, including those that have traditionally sat in the smartphone market. For example, Nokia â at one time a smartphone company â is now touting its sales into AI data centers. And Qualcomm â which mainly makes chips for smartphones â is reportedly preparing silicon for data center applications.
But in routing solutions that connect data centers, the BofA analysts said Cisco is the dominant player with 31.8% share â Nokia, Huawei and Juniper, meanwhile, each have around 18% share. Cisco is also the commanding leader in the core routing market, they added.
In edge routing â an area poised for growth thanks to AI inferencing â the BofA analysts found that Cisco holds 26.1% share, slightly lower than Nokiaâs 28.7% share and higher than Huaweiâs 18.9%.
âWe believe this market could experience higher than historical growth ⊠due to Data Center Interconnect (DCI) deployments by cloud titans on the back of buildouts of Ethernet-based AI networks,â the analysts wrote.

Iâm 33w today & my boy has measured large the whole time.
20w anatomy scan he was 94th percentile (1lb8oz). 28w growth scan he was 99th percentile (3lbs8oz). 32w growth scan he was 98th percentile (5lbs8oz).
I just feel like I should expect the 36w growth scan to be the same.
